#138 - POLICING DREAMS: A SECURITY SUCCESS STORY - Matthew Bewski

#138 - POLICING DREAMS: A SECURITY SUCCESS STORY - Matthew Bewski

Matthew utilized the formula of success and he got into policing. I'd say just, just taking it day by day, waiting to earn my role with the company is what got me to the position that I am today. And what's made me so successful to get into Halton police. So, like I said, a lot of people want to have this, this big role.

They want to do all the, like the dirty work, quote unquote, they want to, uh, help out in the biggest way. Now, when I started, my first four months, I was standing in an accessibility section, making sure that the guests that I had in my section were enjoying their time, and that nobody was impeding them. In my time, when I've been managing, usually it takes people to speak up after two shows, that they don't want to be in that said position.

It was a boring position. It was a boring position. However, you did it. I didn't even know this. Yes. But you're right. There are people that, that'll work, you know, a shift or two. And then suddenly it's like, I don't want to do this. Yeah. What would you tell those individuals? I've told a lot of them, like we've all started here.

Everybody has to work their way up to the top. It's success is earned, not given.

#137 - SECURITY VS EXECUTIVE PROTECTION - What Would You Do?

Dive into the critical differences between general security and executive protection with Protection Specialist Shawn Cooper. This episode analyzes a moment at the Toronto International Film Festival, where an executive protection agent's fails to me the need for specialized skills and advanced preparation.

Shawn Cooper explains the essence of executive protection—meticulous planning, situational awareness, and constant "What if?" scenarios to ensure mental and physical readiness. Unlike basic security tasks, executive protection demands a comprehensive approach, considering every possible threat to ensure the safety of those under protection.

Learn why executive protection is a specialized profession that goes beyond mere presence to a state of perpetual preparedness. This concise exploration offers insights into the high standards required for personal safety and security in high-stakes environments.

#135 - ASPIRE TO INSPIRE: A JOURNEY OF REPRESENTATION - Inspector Kolin Alexander

As we continue our Black History Month police personnel spotlight, we wanted to share this inspiring clip featuring York Regional Police Inspector Kolin Alexander.

In the clip, Inspector Alexander shares his insights on overcoming challenges and not letting obstacles define your path. He encourages us to keep pushing forward, even when we hit walls. This message is especially relevant as we navigate the ongoing pandemic and its many challenges.

To tie in this message, we reference a famous Michael Jordan quote: “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”

Let's take this advice to heart and keep pushing towards our goals, no matter the obstacles we may face.
