"At The End, It's Not About What You Have Or Even What You've Accomplished. It's About Who You've Lifted Up, Who You've Made Better. It's About What You've Given Back."

    — Denzel Washington

I am extra excited about this conversation as a lifelong Colorado athlete! Today we welcome hometown hero, Jake Plummer, to the T&T mic. Jake shares the journey thus far with success and failures as well as new ventures he is deeply passionate about and currently launching from Colorado. 205. How I Ran 48.6 Miles in 4 Days: #TheDopeyChallenge

“It's the possibility that keeps me going, not the guarantee.”
    ― Nicholas Sparks

That’s right- 48.6 miles in four days- also known as The Dopey Challenge, by Run Disney! I am excited to share how and why I took this challenge on as I am not a competitive runner, nor had I run more than a few miles at a time in years! I break down my experience with the race itself, all of the logistics, and my personal strategy on executing a 5k, 10k, half marathon, and full marathon in the span of 4 days. In addition, I share my nutrition and fueling, suggested gear and shoes, training strategy, and maintaining a possibility mindset. Most importantly I share on what I really gained from completing this challenge and it had nothing to do with running or fitness. If you are thinking about taking on any challenge (fitness related or not), I say, do it! Regardless of how it shakes out, there are so many wins even before the challenge starts- listen to this podcast and get motivated to say yes.

    Highlights:

Doing hard things. Completing a 5k, 10k, half marathon, and full marathon in 4 days. Running through Epcot, Disney World, The Magic Kingdom, and more. Rain, shine, darkness, or dead batteries- we run. Recovery, possibility mindset, nutrition, and gear. Focus, me time, commitment, and steping/leaping outside of the box. Sucking at something new. “This is the power of gathering: it inspires us, delightfully, to be more hopeful, more joyful, more thoughtful: in a word, more alive.”

    -Alice Waters

We have local cocktail fam in the house and these are not your average college creations- these are top notch beverages to impress your friends, family, and your own taste buds… made easy! The holidays are here and there is no better gift than a good hug and varsity libation, so listen in on how this amazing idea came to be a full-on business creation leveling up you party and home bar with ease. Uncle Tim’s Co-Founder, Tim Felkner, joins us today to share how he merged his passion for craft cocktails and hosting with his in-depth experience in the high-end restaurant industry to create a quality sipping experience right at home. Tim shares his journey in entrepreneurship, intentional personal self-growth, and how he looks to set the bar on the “already made” cocktail experience with top notch, tried, true, and tested recipes, as well as putting human connection at the forefront of the mission. After all it’s in Tim’s blood to keep the party going as his great grandfather was a rumrunner during prohibition, and his smuggled alcohol kept New York City speakeasies running. This is not only a product you want to try, it’s a company of mission driven humans you want to know. Order online wherever you are OR be sure to drop into their local tasting room or pop ups here in Denver, Colorado!

    Highlights:

Local, classy, and lit- let’s toast something delicious! Entrepreneurship. Mental health and community. Family, friends, and the importance of gathering. Chasing the dream and finding yourself. Breaking stereotypes and leading by example. Work and play balance.

For enthusiasts of craft cocktails, there always exists that iconic moment where a bartender introduced you to the world of unique flavors combined with high quality spirits. For founders Tim Felkner and Patrick Stern, that was San Francisco’s restaurant renaissance starting in 2008.

Inspired by the diverse landscape of options out there, they found themselves hosting a wide range of events and found a need for ready-made cocktails that provided the same caliber of unique flavors we found across the city's greatest bars and restaurants.

Over the last decade, we developed the recipes what came to be called Uncle Tim’s bottled cocktails, most of which you will find in our collection today. The tradition of unique cocktails is what we love, and hope that you find inspiration in these bottles to share and enjoy with the company you keep.

    Keisha Mathes, Herbal Honey:

Some call her poet, mother, and women’s health advocate. At Herbal Honey, Keisha Mathes is also known as master herbalist and owner. She began her studies in herbology, botanical pharmacology, and formulations in 2005.  It was then that she was inspired to develop her first herbal formulation for an ill family member. Her relative was suffering from a great deal of pain and inflammation and wanted to try something natural to relieve it. With accessibility, community, and mental health guiding the Roll Mobility ship- Joe and Rachel know that they are sailing toward positive change for this world. The more accessible things are the more humans can connect, be seen, be heard, and be understood- and we all need more of that. Let’s make the world more accessible with roll mobility.

    Highlights:

Accessibility. Community. Mental Health. Able bodied awareness and self-education. Business owners and builders, what you can do no to help. Diversity, inclusion, and bar crawls. Life changing in a minute- attitude over everything. Adversity and acceptance. Faith and the journey as whole

    Introducing Roll Mobility
Where able-bodied people see options, people with mobility issues often see questions. Roll is here to provide answers. Roll Mobility is an app providing reliable accessibility information, specially designed for wheelchair users and those with mobility issues. The Roll platform equips users with information on restaurants, public spaces, businesses, trails, and parking areas. Say goodbye to doubts about whether a destination is truly accessible. Search for a location, and if reviewed an icon will represent its accessibility rating. The top of the icon indicates overall accessibility, and the bottom indicates bathroom accessibility. A green rating means that the location is accessible for a power chair user. Yellow indicates the location is mostly accessible but some barriers or obstacles might exist. Red indicates the location is not wheelchair accessible. Roll Mobility is a community-driven accessibility tool. Unlike other search engines, we understand that accurate data requires a united effort from the community.

Together, we're paving the way for a more inclusive future.

Originally working as a pediatric physical therapist, their journey took an unexpected turn when they sustained an incomplete spinal cord injury, prompting retirement from clinical practice. Undeterred, Rachel found a new calling in the tech world, where they now thrive as the communications lead for Roll Mobility, a groundbreaking start-up that has revolutionized the way people with mobility issues interact with their environment through their innovative accessibility rating app. Off the clock- you can find Rachel hitting the trails on their adaptive off-road trike, promoting disability visibility through lifestyle and adaptive sport, or reading a book.

As a former D1 athlete and mutil-appearance CrossFit Games athlete (mostly past the age of 30), I made it a point to find the best in the biz to help optimize my own sports performance to stay competitive as long as possible. If you have competed at a high level, you know you need every advantage you can get and building your team of practitioners is critical. Sean was referred to me years ago from another competitive CrossFit-er and he has been my go-to ever since. Now it’s more about peak performance in life than it is about being a competitive athlete- which is far more important. The health and wellness industry are multibillion-dollar industries for a reason- health and fitness sell- especially quick fixes! Check out his bio below to see all the accolades- beyond impressive. What’s more impressive is that he is on the trend setting tip for the new age techniques and technologies for all thing’s human optimization- from sports performance to brain health to chronic illness. He is the one you go to when everyone else can’t figure it out… and if you’re ahead of the game, you have him in your back pocket right now so you are not only living, but thriving. Check out more here and be sure to drop into Dr. Sean’s beautiful Boulder clinic to see all the optimization possibilities at hand- just for you.

    Highlights:

Varity humans sticking together, it takes a village. Questioning a better way and challenging authority. Competitive athletes, special forces, and people who want to feel good as they age.
