Life goes on, even when faced with unexpected challenges. David, the podcast host, shares his recent experience of undergoing Achilles surgery but assures listeners that his publishing schedule will continue with some exciting episodes coming up, including interviews with Seth Godin, Ryan Holiday, and Steven Pressfield. In the midst of this, the discussion also touches upon the benefits of using NetSuite for businesses to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Johnny and Yousef from propanefitness.com join the podcast, bringing along Johnny's dog Dexter. The conversation is light-hearted, with the group discussing various topics such as cinnamon and Netflix shows. Despite the host's recent surgery, the show continues to deliver valuable insights and engaging conversations for its audience.

    • Sudden impact without pain from snapping Achilles tendonSnapping an Achilles tendon results in unexpected disorientation due to lack of immediate pain, requiring immediate medical attention, significant swelling, and long recovery time with immobilization.

The experience of snapping an Achilles tendon involves a sensation of being shot or hit without the accompanying pain, which can be quite disorienting. The lack of immediate pain can make it difficult for others to recognize the severity of the injury. Additionally, the injury often requires immediate medical attention and can result in significant swelling, making it challenging to get to the affected area. The injury also often involves the need for a boot or immobilization, which can be inconvenient and require adjustments to clothing. The use of the phrase "I am cinnamon" is likely a reference to a viral video or meme, and its inclusion in this context is likely for humor or to illustrate the unexpected nature of the injury. Overall, the experience of snapping an Achilles tendon is one of sudden impact without pain, followed by the need for medical attention and significant recovery time.

    • People react differently to unexpected situations like accidentsUnexpected events can elicit a range of reactions, from calmness to indifference, and memories of such events can shape experiences in unexpected ways.

Even in unexpected and painful situations, such as a car accident resulting in an Achilles rupture, people may react in unexpected ways, like extreme calmness or even indifference. The speaker shared an experience where a man remained calm and uninjured after an accident, despite the car being badly damaged. The speaker also mentioned a viral video of Ellie Goulding's reaction to a motorway accident, which was criticized as cringy. The speaker reflected on how people's reactions to accidents or unexpected events can vary greatly, and how memories of such events can linger and shape experiences in unexpected ways. The speaker also shared that they had booked various entertainers for events, including DJ Gokwan and Phil Mitchell from EastEnders, and that people's perceptions of these entertainers could be quite different from reality. The speaker also shared that they had received several messages from people who had recently ruptured their Achilles, highlighting the common nature of this injury.

    • Impact of conservative management vs. surgery on athletic function outcomesThorough research and consultation with medical professionals are crucial when deciding between conservative management and surgery for athletic injuries, as both options have potential benefits and risks.

The decision between conservative management and surgery for an injury, such as an Achilles tendon rupture, can significantly impact the long-term athletic function outcomes. The speaker shares his personal experience of seeking advice from doctors and conducting research, which led him to observe that while some high-level athletes have opted for surgery with successful recoveries, those who have chosen conservative management often report loss of function, sensation, and mobility. However, surgery comes with its own risks, including open wounds, blood thinners, and strong pain medication. The speaker expresses frustration with the perceived lack of advanced pain management options in his situation compared to what is available in the US. Despite his reservations, he ultimately decides to undergo surgery due to concerns about long-term function. This experience underscores the importance of thorough research and consultation with medical professionals when making decisions about injury treatment.

    • The importance of discernment in content consumptionBe cautious when consuming content, question the source's qualifications, and seek reliable information to avoid empty content creation.

The line between productive work and empty content creation can be blurry, and it's essential to be discerning when consuming information from various sources. During a conversation, the speaker shared their experience of encountering a content creator who seemed to be producing without much substance. They also discussed the process behind some popular self-help books and questioned the value of mass-produced content. The speaker also mentioned the importance of seeking out reliable sources for advice, particularly in areas like accounting and medicine where qualifications matter. They also touched upon the risks of taking advice from unqualified sources online. Overall, the conversation highlighted the importance of critical thinking and discernment when engaging with information and content.

    • Grant Cardone's Interview with Jordan Peterson: Aggressive Behavior and Pyramid Scheme AllegationsDespite accusations of aggressive behavior and potential pyramid scheme involvement, Grant Cardone continues to fill stadiums with followers, leaving some questioning the legitimacy of his business and its impact on individuals.

The interview between Grant Cardone and Jordan Peterson showcased Grant's aggressive behavior and inability to answer direct questions, leading to accusations of being a "dick" and potentially running a pyramid scheme. The interview reminded some people of "fake gurus" or martial arts masters who rely on their cult followings to maintain their image. Despite this, Grant has a large following and fills stadiums with people. While some may have found success with his programs, others have lost money and were likely part of a pyramid scheme with stooges in the audience promoting his courses. The balance lies in the thousands of people who are happy with his teachings. This interview raises questions about the legitimacy of Grant's business and the potential harm it may cause to some individuals.

    • Understanding the difference between legitimate investments and pyramid schemesResearch thoroughly before investing and be cautious of unpredictable market environments to avoid falling for pyramid schemes and risky opportunities.

While some individuals have made significant profits from predicting market trends and making strategic trades, such as Bill Ackman's bet against the market during the coronavirus pandemic, not all investments are created equal. Some, like certain multi-level marketing schemes, may be pyramid schemes designed to make money for those at the top rather than the participants. The line between legitimate investment opportunities and pyramid schemes can be blurry, and it's essential to do thorough research before making any investment decisions. Additionally, the current market environment is increasingly unpredictable, with more people engaging in risky behavior and sentiment driving prices. It's crucial to approach investing with caution and a solid understanding of the underlying fundamentals of the companies involved.

    • Exploring Global Issues and Pushing Technological BoundariesElon Musk's companies, Tesla, SpaceX, and The Boring Company, tackle complex global issues while pushing technological boundaries, leading to controversies and debates about regulation and innovation.

Elon Musk, a visionary entrepreneur, is focused on solving complex global issues, such as congestion and space exploration, while also pushing technological boundaries with companies like Tesla, SpaceX, and The Boring Company. His ability to innovate and outpace regulations has led to controversies, like building tunnels without explicit permission. The rapid advancement of technology often outstrips the ability to litigate against it, as seen with companies like Facebook and Google. Musk's influence and expertise in various industries make him a formidable figure, leaving many questioning who will come out on top in the tech race. Additionally, the podcast "Can We Pull Back from the Brink?" by Sam Harris is a thought-provoking exploration of pressing issues, including the internet epidemic of child pornography.

    • Lawmakers struggle to understand advanced tech conceptsDespite the need for regulation, lawmakers face challenges in comprehending advanced tech concepts, leading to inconsistent policies and regulations.

There's a significant gap between lawmakers and technology experts, making it challenging for the former to effectively regulate the latter. This was emphasized in a senate meeting where lawmakers struggled to understand advanced concepts, drawing comparisons to their inability to unlock iPhones. The conversation then shifted to personal experiences, including a trip to Iceland and the high costs and challenges of finding affordable food. The discussion also touched on the inconsistencies in calorie tracking and gym equipment, highlighting the arbitrary nature of these measurements. The conversation ended with a reflection on the challenges of comparing weights across different gyms and the concept of consumer lock-in. Overall, the conversation underscored the need for greater understanding and adaptation to technological advancements, especially in areas like health and fitness.

    • Data security and exportability concerns in password managersLack of export feature in password managers can leave users vulnerable and locked in, raising concerns over data security and user control.

Data security and exportability are crucial aspects of any service, especially those dealing with sensitive information like passwords. The lack of an export feature in some services can leave users vulnerable and locked in, as was the case with Chris and his password manager experience. Additionally, the value and wealth accumulation by individuals and companies, such as Amazon's Jeff Bezos becoming the world's first trillionaire, raise ethical and societal concerns. These issues highlight the importance of transparency, user control, and responsible use of technology and wealth.

    • Managing Large Sums of Money: Challenges and StrategiesEffective planning and execution are crucial when managing large sums of money, as operational issues, bureaucracy, and societal perceptions can pose significant challenges.

Trying to spend a large sum of money in a short amount of time comes with its own set of challenges, such as bureaucracy, operational issues, and trust. The speaker in the conversation proposed a strategy to buy cinema pick-and-mix across all UK cinemas using a million pounds, but faced operational issues in employing and managing a large workforce. Ensuring that employees followed instructions and policing commissions proved to be additional challenges. The conversation also touched upon the societal perception of names, with the speaker discussing the stigma attached to the name Karen and how it could be turned into an advantage. The speaker drew inspiration from Stoicism, suggesting that having low expectations can be an advantage. In essence, the conversation highlighted the complexities and challenges that come with managing large sums of money and the importance of effective planning and execution.

    • Improve viewing experience with original language subtitlesWatching a show like 'Dark' on Netflix in its original language with subtitles enhances the viewing experience by allowing viewers to better understand nuances and maintain immersion.

The viewing experience of a show like "Dark" on Netflix can be significantly enhanced by watching it in its original language with subtitles, rather than relying on English dubbing. This is because the mismatch between the intended mood of the scene and the dubbed voiceovers can be jarring and take viewers out of the moment. Additionally, voice actors who provide dubs have to match their performances to the original actors' expressions and intonations, which can be challenging. The use of subtitles, on the other hand, allows viewers to read the original dialogue and better understand the nuances of the language and culture. While it may require more effort, the improved viewing experience is worth it for many viewers. Overall, "Dark" is a highly recommended show, despite some viewers' initial reservations about its subject matter.

    • Life's small challenges and their big impactNotice the small moments in life, they can have a big impact. Keep pushing through discomfort for a strong reason.

Life can present unexpected challenges, just like trying to take a step and not quite making it or missing a glass with your mouth. These small moments can be frustrating, but they are a part of life. Serious situations, such as conversations about drugs, should be handled with care and sensitivity. We are all calibrated to notice even the smallest details, and these small moments can have a big impact on us. The importance of having a strong reason to push through discomfort was emphasized, whether it's recovering from surgery or facing other challenges. The speaker's experience of opening doors too hard and having to wait after surgery to bear weight on his leg were shared as relatable examples. Overall, the conversation highlighted the importance of perseverance and finding reasons to keep moving forward in the face of challenges.

    • Considering Risks and Making Informed DecisionsAssessing risks and making informed decisions is crucial in managing complex situations, whether in finance or healthcare.

Even when faced with complex situations, whether it's managing a financial institution or dealing with a medical emergency, it's important to assess the risks and make informed decisions. The speaker in this conversation expresses uncertainty about whether to remove a bullet or leave it in, highlighting the importance of considering all factors before making a choice. In films, wounds are often portrayed as minor issues that can be easily fixed with a bandage, but in reality, they can be serious and require careful consideration. The decision to leave a knife in or take it out also depends on various factors, and it's crucial to make the best decision based on available knowledge. Ultimately, life is a series of experiences, some of which involve getting things in or out of our bodies, and it's essential to approach each situation with care and consideration.

    • The Right Mindset and Tools for Putting Things In and Getting Nice Things OutWith dedication, the right tools, and mindset, you can effectively put a lot into people and get nice things out, but be aware that not everything that goes in is nice and the barrier for nice things going out is generally lower.

With the right tools, mindset, skills, and motivation, it's possible to put a lot of things into people. However, not everything that goes in is nice, and the barrier for nice things going out is generally lower than for nice things going in. The speakers also mentioned a surprising third thing, which listeners may find hard to believe. For those interested in starting an online PT business, they recommended checking out Propanefitness.com/modernwisdom for resources. The speakers also reminded listeners that they rarely get to speak to each other due to their busy schedules, and encouraged them to check out Chriswillx.com/lifehacks for a free ebook with over 200 life hacks. Overall, the discussion emphasized the importance of persistence and the right mindset in achieving goals.

The Atlanta Story podcast features meaningful stories of Atlanta’s builders, creators, and entrepreneurs. In this episode Jon Birdsong sits down with Asif Ramji, of Paymetric and Chief Growth Officer at FIS

Asif took over a struggling Paymetric in 2009. At the time, the business was losing $2m a year. Fast forward 8 years later, with the financial backing of Francisco Partners, Asif sold the business to Vantiv for $550M. Through 3 other acquisitions, Asif now holds the title of Chief Growth Officer for FIS with a divisional budget of $1B. In addition to building businesses, Asif stays civically focused by holding board positions on the Atlanta Ballet and Alliance Theater. After listening to today's podcast, we’re confident you’ll be inspired to find a niche, lead a team, and build something substantial.

Anambra Airport Approved For Commercial Flights

Anambra Airport Approved For Commercial Flights
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has issued authority to Anambra State Government to open the international cargo and passenger airport for commercial operations with effect from 2nd December 2021.
The aviation authority says that it has received security clearance from relevant security agencies for the opening.
They stated that the negative security clearance was the reason the authority had declined approval for the opening of the airport on the 30th of October 2021, when the state government had scheduled the commissioning.
Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ifejiofor, commended the efforts of Governor Obiano who never relented even while on vacation to ensure that the Anambra airport becomes operational ahead of the Christmas 2021 mass return of the people of Anambra living in the diaspora, and other visitors.
