    2686 What Evidence is True for Your Health?

    When aging catches up with your reflection, it's hard to accept what you don't want to see. However, there is beauty in all stages of life. What evidence is true for your health?

    Over the past few days, I've been fighting monkey grass. Looking in the mirror, all I could see was a tired woman with more still to do.

    As we age, it's hard to forget that our inside and outside changes too. But, we don't have to get stuck in how we feel.

    You can choose how you accept the evidence, whether true or false.

    However, a lot of our opinions come from what the world shares. With Hollywood, plastic surgery, and concoctions that prove to turn back time, it's hard to see what you wish you would never see; the reflection of aging.

    Yet, I don't want you to get stuck there. Life is not about a number on the scale, a size on a hanger, or the number of wrinkles you don't have.

    Life is how you choose to view it.

    The K.I.S.S. ~ What evidence is true for your health?

    There are so many angles you can take on your health. And only you know what is best. You can have a coach, doctor, spouse, friends, and family. But ultimately, you need to understand where you see yourself and the evidence before you.

    This is a great time to take inventory.

    And I only know this because I've been thinking about it since removing the monkey grass over the last few days.

    Muscles hurt that I forgot existed. Yet, I am impressed with what I can do at a half-century.

    1. How do you feel about your reflection in the mirror? Are you focusing on the wrinkles or the rolls? Where do your eyes draw you in immediately causing a thought of "if only"? Maybe it's your thighs, upper arms, or back.
    2. What part of your body do you think looks older than you feel? This can be anything. And it doesn't have to mean anything specifically, except you feel older. What this does is give you a clue about what you would like to change up.
    3. What area of your body needs some oil like Dorothy's Tinman? Maybe you are a little tight or not as strong as you thought you were. 

    Now after you answer these questions, I want you to go back and look at the evidence. What is true for you versus what society says?

    Because the key is not about trying to be like everyone else. Just be YOU and enjoy life at the age you are.

    Now, age does not have to define who you are. You can change anything you don't like, except going back in time.

    So if it's the rolls that drive you crazy, then start eating more vegetables, and leaner meats, and move more intentionally.

    If it's the wrinkles on your skin, hydrate first with water. Aim to drink half your body weight in ounces. Then, think about what else your skin may need. A moisturizer? Some collagen? Skincare does make a difference if you use it consistently.

    Maybe you are not feeling strong. Your muscles are sore from the monkey grass, or whatever monkey is on your back. Start strength training your body intentionally. Do some yoga or pilates. Incorporate walking every day.

    The evidence that you discover does not have to be the end of the world. Aging is beautiful. So embrace this new season you're in and make it an adventure. 

    Because soon enough, you'll be in another season and making more changes.

    Change is a constant. So consistently love who you are becoming at any age.

    2847 How to Fall Back to Spring Forward
    Who doesn't want to feel energetic and ready to attack their day? Just because busyness rules the day, it does not have to rule the night. Learn how to fall back to spring forward. I'm not sure where you are living, but this weekend is the end of daylight savings time. Most of us here in the U.S. gain an hour. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT It's where we fall back Saturday night into early Sunday morning.  If you go to church on Sunday, this is where everyone gets confused as to what time the service starts.  But seriously, sleep is vital to our health and well-being. If you don't get sleep, your body and mind have no way to rejuvenate, restore, and repair.  Sleep is where your mind and body get to recharge for the next day.  Don't deprive yourself of something that's great! Aim for eight! The K.I.S.S. ~ Aim for eight! You need sleep. I need sleep. We all need sleep to thrive. Even though our clocks are manmade, sleep is natural. So you gotta put in the time to spin on a dime.  If you want to be spot on, you must get your rest! Aim for eight!
    1. Embrace the obvious. Daylight savings time is ending. So there's no need to fight what you can't control. Instead, focus on what you can control -- your bedtime. Get an extra hour of sleep and indulge a little more for your health. But if that doesn't work for you, shift your bedtime by 30 minutes. You cut the time in half, and it allows you to slowly become adjusted without too much interruption.
    2. Stroll earlier rather than later. When you fall back, you are losing light. And light is what helps set your circadian rhythm. Plus, when cortisol levels spikes, gives you energy, and stops producing melatonin. If you're not a morning person, then become a dancing person in the morning. Put on some good tunes, and dance the morning away. It'll wake you up and set your day on the right track.
    3. Snack less and eat dinner earlier. In the fall and winter months, most of us like to curl up and eat cozy snacks with warm drinks. That can add up to unnecessary extra calories, and some with added sugar. The body doesn't like any of it, and will most certainly upset your sleeping patterns. So be cautious when you snack and eat dinner. With darkness coming sooner, your body will naturally begin to go into its sleep cycle. So eat a little bit earlier and snack less. Your body will love you for it. 
    Gaining an extra hour of sleep is wonderful. But be sure to pay attention to how you feel physically, mentally, and emotionally. Give yourself permission to take a nap even this weekend.  This is a great reason to start this new season.  "Train for life.     But for others, it is truly a fight every day. We wake up thinking about what has to be done that it feels like a chore. And if you were ever once a kid, no one likes chores. 

    So how can healthy living be achieved? And is it even attainable?

    To answer the last question first, of course, you can attain it.

    However, in order for you to take yourself seriously, your actions must match your desired lifestyle.

    So A.I.M. for what you want.

    The K.I.S.S. ~ A.I.M. for what you want!

    1. Determine the lifestyle you want. Is it one of convenience? Or is it one that will sustain you as you age?
    2. Take inventory of your good actions. What good actions are you doing right now? Celebrate those.
    3. Implement a change with new actions. What actions do you need to match your desired lifestyle?

    Your lifestyle does not have to challenge your willpower. When you A.I.M. for what you want, you are choosing not forcing.

    So if for some reason you decide to make different choices, then be okay with that decision. It's not the end of the world if you eat fast food for one meal. What is the end of the world is how you beat yourself up when you think you've failed yourself.

    Be careful as to what you ask of yourself. Be clear with your choices, and encourage yourself with the actions you take every day.

    "Train for life. Love your journey!"
