What constitutes happiness? In this episode, we discuss happiness and whether Japanese people are happy relative to people in other countries. We also refer to the World Happiness Report and whether the index accurately reflects the happiness of the Japanese. We also discuss our concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the possible increases in infections due to the extended holiday break.

As a follow-up to our previous conversation on parental leave, we discuss housework in Japan in this episode, specifically the distribution of housework between husbands and wives. We also take a closer look at the number of hours of housework spent by each spouse and discuss how housework can be gendered.

In this episode, we discuss parental leave in Japan, focusing on paternity leave and the Japanese's attitudes toward men taking a leave of absence from work. We notice a big gap between what Japanese law offers and men's willingness to take leave. We also took this opportunity to make quick comparisons with other countries regarding attitudes and laws. 

今回のエピソードでは、日本での育児休業について、父親の育児休業と休職中の男性に対する日本人の姿勢に焦点を当てました。話の中で、日本の父親の育児休業に関する法制度と男性の休暇取得意欲との間に大きな隔たりが存在することに気が付きました。他国のそれらとの比較についても言及しています。
