Crawl out of that tauntaun, grab a cup of warm blue milk, and settle in for exciting stories about vacationing on the ice world of Hoth! On March 5, 1979, principal photography began in Finse, Norway for THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. Mark Newbold of Fantha Tracks visited these icy plains. He stood on the grounds where Luke Skywalker was attacked by a wampa, he walked the snowy terrain where the great AT-AT battle took place, and he got to play in the snow with Darth Vader and his Imperial troops. Here he shares his stories and some amazing pictures.

451: Butch Patrick is Skywalking Through Neverland!

451: Butch Patrick is Skywalking Through Neverland!

This is a discussion with Eddie Munster himself - Butch Patrick! Richard grew up watching Butch Patrick in just about everything from Shazam (1974), Lidsville (1971-72), The Phantom Tollbooth (1970), The Munsters (1964-66), and The Monkees 1967 Christmas episode. In that episode Butch plays Melvin Vandersnoot, a child of 10 going on 65 with no Christmas spirit. Of course, The Monkees change that by the end, and it’s a heartwarming tale that Richard and Sarah watch every year on Christmas day. Butch Patrick shares behind-the-scenes stories of working as a child actor in all of these nostalgic series and films. We recommend watching the YouTube version of this show because Richard spent a long time editing in clips of the various stories he shares: https://youtu.be/GVqsOVH2m0E

450: Disneyland vs. Universal Studios Hollywood!

450: Disneyland vs. Universal Studios Hollywood!

If you love theme parks, then you are going to love this episode! Courtney & Kelly Turckel (Neverland Clubhouse) join us to compare and contrast Disneyland Resort to Universal Studios Hollywood - ranking them in terms of price, experience, attractions, food, theming and more.

Richard and Sarah conceived of this episode back in December, when our top-level Disneyland Magic Keys blocked us out of that theme park over the Christmas holiday. So we did some research and bought the top-level Platinum Annual Passes to Universal Studios Hollywood and had an amazing time! Universal has really stepped it up with the addition of Wizarding World and Super Nintendo World, so we thought this was a great time to compare the two theme parks. Courtney & Kelly have had annual passes to both Universal and Disneyland for over 5 years now, so they are experts.

449: Classic Marvel STAR WARS Comics #46 "DREADNAUGHT DEVOURER"

What is the Genie from Aladdin doing in a Classic Marvel Star Wars comic? And why is it purple? Who is Cody Sunn-Childe? How does this comic relate to the Mortis Arc and World Between Worlds in Star Wars? Richard and Sarah answer all of these questions as they meticulously delve into Issue #46 "Dreadnaught Devourer" OR "The Dreams of Cody Sunn-Childe."

We recommend watching the video version on YouTube which contains the full comic as we page through it.

Classic Marvel Star Wars Comics #46 “DREADNAUGHT DEVOURER"

    Release Date: January 20, 1981
Writer: Wally Lombego - AKA J.M. DeMatteis
Artwork: Carmine Infantino, Tom Palmer, Glynis Wein
Cover Art:  Ed Hannigan and Tom Palmer

While Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca are off to rescue Han Solo, the Millennium Falcon encounters problems with a warp engine while in hyperspace which causes the ship to enter another dimension.

They come upon a mysterious floating domed city, and discover that this city is the psychic creation of Lando’s long lost hero - Cody Sunn-Childe. Years ago, Cody turned his back on his violent and savage past when he discovered his powerful mystical ability and so created his City of Dreams to live with his friends in peace away from the Galactic Civil War.

Lando rejects Cody's views claiming that there are times that violence is necessary to win a war, and what good is this power and hidden city when there are millions of people on the other side who are dying because of the Empire.

Meanwhile, the Empire has located the city and Cody has a life-altering decision to make.

447: Mickey Mouse as Public Domain EXPLAINED by Law Professor B.J. Priester

    YouTube version: https://youtu.be/TSAdvCZ2mgw

Law Professor B.J. Priester (FanGirl Blog) joins us to share the ins and outs of public domain and trademarks, especially as it applies to beloved characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse. It has been 95 years since the introduction of Disney’s iconic mice and Tigger, which means anyone can use these characters without Disney’s consent. However, it’s a bit more complicated, and so much more interesting, than that, so BJ helps to break it all down, as only a lawyer can!

This weekend was the runDisney Disneyland Half Marathon at Disneyland! The FIRST one in SEVEN years! Sarah ran the Disneyland 10k and has stories, thoughts and pictures to share. We recorded this episode on Richard’s birthday, so please wish our illustrious co-host a happy one!
