    • Unexpected role as photographers at NTA awardsDespite unexpected setbacks, it's crucial to keep a positive attitude and make the most of the situation.

Appearances can be deceiving, and sometimes things don't go as planned. The speakers had expected to host the red carpet at the NTA awards, but instead found themselves as photographers among the crowd. Despite the disappointment, they made the best of the situation and even managed to record some great content for their fans. However, Pete was not as adaptable and had a terrible time at the event. The experience served as a reminder that setbacks are a part of life, and it's essential to keep a positive attitude and make the most of unexpected situations.

    • Speakers' Challenging Experience at NCA AwardsDespite obstacles like identity checks and team disputes, speakers made it to the NCA awards and conducted interviews, adding to the excitement of their first time experience.

Getting into the NCA awards ceremony was a challenging experience for the speakers. They encountered various obstacles, including being denied entry at the gate and having to prove their identities. Despite these setbacks, they eventually made it in and were given microphones to conduct interviews. Another notable occurrence was a team dispute that happened before they entered the event. These experiences added to the excitement and unpredictability of their first time at the NCA awards. Additionally, Sam's decision to wear Crocs on the red carpet sparked some controversy, which they plan to discuss further in a later segment. Overall, their journey to the awards ceremony was filled with unexpected challenges and surprises.

    • Red carpet event challenges: Communication and organizationEffective communication and organization are crucial during red carpet events, but unexpected challenges require flexibility and adaptation to secure successful interviews

Communication and organization were key issues during a red carpet event experience for the speakers. They encountered unexpected challenges, such as being in the wrong place with their equipment, dealing with a grumpy colleague, and a lack of clear interview protocol. Despite these hurdles, they managed to secure interviews with some success, particularly when they were able to adapt to the chaotic situation and make the most of unexpected opportunities. The speakers also highlighted the importance of having a clear system and respecting each other's roles to ensure a smoother experience. Ultimately, the event was a learning experience, demonstrating the importance of preparation, flexibility, and effective communication in the face of unexpected challenges.

    • Sam's Inappropriate Behavior During InterviewsMaintain respect and professionalism towards guests during interviews, even when under pressure or trying to secure high-profile guests.

During a radio interview, Sam acted inappropriately towards guests by interrupting them, taking the microphone away, and being disrespectful. His actions were motivated by a desire to secure high-profile guests, but it ended up being rude to many people. Pete, who initially expressed reluctance about the interview process, became more enthusiastic and started asking better questions as the interview progressed. However, Pete also became angry and confrontational due to the heat, surprising everyone. Despite some misunderstandings and awkward moments, the team managed to conduct successful interviews, but it was a learning experience for all involved. It's important to maintain respect and professionalism towards guests, even when under pressure or trying to secure high-profile interviews.

    • Being a good wingman involves active support and engagementEffective wingmanship requires attentiveness, support, and genuine interest to create a positive and inclusive environment for meaningful connections.

Effective wingmanship requires active involvement and support during social interactions. In the discussed interview scenario, Pete failed to engage Sam in the conversation with Fred, leaving her feeling awkward and unsure of what to do. Additionally, Pete's attempts at improvisation when encountering unfamiliar people, such as Whitney and Lachlan, came across as insensitive and inappropriate, further hindering his wingman abilities. Effective wingmanship involves being attentive, supportive, and genuinely interested in the people involved, creating a positive and inclusive environment for meaningful connections to be made.

    • Using unconventional interviewing technique 'crabbing' to attract Holly WilloughbyDuring live events, unconventional interviewing techniques like 'crabbing' can attract attention, but may not always result in positive interactions with celebrities.

During an event, Pete and Sam used an unconventional interviewing technique called "crabbing" to attract the attention of Holly Willoughby. Crabbing involved shimmying with arms out to the left to draw people in, similar to a shepherd herding sheep. Despite Pete's excitement about meeting Holly, she seemed to dislike him, and they had a history of tension. During their interaction, Holly made a comment about Pete's past behavior, which he took as an opportunity to show his energy and sex drive. The interaction ended with Holly expressing skepticism about Pete, and Sam joining in with a suggestive gesture. Piers Morgan also tried to use his connection with Holly's son to gain her trust during the event. Overall, the technique of crabbing and the dynamic between Pete, Sam, and Holly showcased the unique and sometimes unpredictable nature of live events and celebrity interactions.

    • Awkward red carpet experience for Sam Thompson and Pete WicksDespite hopes for good press, an awkward encounter with Ant and Dec's manager led to missed opportunities and embarrassment for Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks during the National Television Awards red carpet event

The red carpet experience for Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks during the National Television Awards did not go as planned. While they were hoping for good press and interviews with famous TV personalities like Ant and Dec, things took an awkward turn. A misunderstanding with Anne, Ant's manager, led to Sam attempting to hand them microphones for an interview, which ended up in an embarrassing moment. Despite this, they continued to try and get an interview throughout the event, even as Ant and Dec left. The experience was described as a letdown and a disappointment, with Sam entering a state of "red rage" and continuing to shout for Ant and Dec. Overall, the red carpet experience did not yield the desired results and instead resulted in some awkward moments and missed opportunities.

    • Disappointing Encounter with IdolSam's dream of meeting his idol, Deck, turned into a confusing and disappointing experience when he called him the wrong name, resulting in a sour interaction and leaving Sam feeling let down.

Sam's encounter with his idol, Deck, during a red carpet event was a disappointing and intense experience. Despite being so close to meeting him, Sam made a mistake by calling Deck by the wrong name, Ant, leading to confusion and fans shouting at him. Sam was left holding microphones for the celebrities and felt reassured by the team, but the moment of meeting Deck was a letdown. Sam assumed he would receive the microphone back from Deck, but instead, Deck denied him and Sam had to retract his hand. The experience was overwhelming for Sam, and he almost fainted. Although they interviewed several celebrities, the encounter with Deck left a sour taste in Sam's mouth. Despite the team's support, the moment didn't go as planned, and Sam was left feeling disappointed.

    • Effective communication and teamwork at the red carpet eventCollaboration and banter between press members led to a successful red carpet event, with humorous mix-ups and crabbing techniques used to secure interviews.

Effective communication and teamwork played a significant role in the success of the red carpet event. The speakers shared stories of their interactions with celebrities, including a humorous mix-up with Tyler West and Sara's participation in Strictly Come Dancing. They also discussed their successful use of crabbing techniques and loaning out Sam to other publications, creating a "red carpet army" that helped them secure interviews. The banter between the press was described as a key part of the experience, with one press member acting as a lookout for potential interviewees. Despite some challenges, such as Pete's mistakes and not knowing who people were, the team's determination and collaboration led to a successful night.

    • Navigating the Red Carpet as OutsidersThe hosts found joy and connection despite challenges at the red carpet event, showcasing their positive attitude and resilience.

Despite feeling like outsiders at the red carpet event, the hosts made the most of the experience by connecting with each other and even making new friends. However, the lack of proper information provided to them made it challenging for them to navigate through the event. The hosts' humor and light-hearted approach to the situation added to the overall enjoyment of the episode. Despite some annoyances, they remained committed to their role as press members and looked forward to future events. The episode also showcased the hosts' genuine appreciation for their listeners and their support in the podcast awards. Overall, the hosts' ability to find joy and connection in unexpected situations is a testament to their positive attitude and resilience.

(Matt Monday): “Bad Texter” or Just Not That Into You?

(Matt Monday): “Bad Texter” or Just Not That Into You?

Few things can match the heady exhilaration of dating someone and building momentum through regular texting and a sense of closeness.

But what about when the texting on their end is . . . kind of slow and intermittent . . . where there are big gaps in your text exchanges that leave you feeling unsure as to where, exactly, you stand with that person?

Feeling this way might even lead you to start analyzing their relationship with their phone the next time you’re with them, looking for clues as to whether their sporadic phone usage is consistent in their life or reserved just for you.

At some point, they might’ve even shared a generic line with you like, “I’m so rubbish with my phone,” or “I’m really bad at replying to people!” But is this really true?

In this week’s video, I not only answer these questions, but I dig into a really common mistake people make in this area.
