41. The Story of Alicia Gali

On November 21, 1987 a 19-year-old woman went missing after driving off with her father from a local 7-Eleven. When her father returned home later asking if anyone knew where she was, her family became worried and the police were notified. But before the missing person’s report was even filed, her nude body was discovered in a large swamp area, badly disfigured with a total of 27 gunshot wounds. After suspicious behaviour from her father led to evidence of his involvement, he was charged with her murder, but claimed he had dissociative identity disorder and pled not guilty by reason of insanity. This is the story of Kathy Bonney.

On April 11, 2016 a 51-year-old woman went missing in Royston, England. It was initially reported that she had gone to the family’s holiday home, but it was soon discovered she had never been there and an investigation ensued. Three months later, her remains were uncovered in the septic tank of her own home. Her husband was immediately charged with her murder, which led investigators to a shocking revelation that she was not his only victim. This is the story of Helen Bailey.

On June 3, 2015, just three days before her 40th birthday, a 39-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend in the driveway of her home in Berlin, New Jersey in the United States. The relationship had been fraught with violence, intimidation and stalking and although a restraining order was in place, she was fearful for her life and was in the process of getting a gun permit. Her home’s security cameras caught the terrifying and tragic scene but before he could be captured, her murderer took his own life. This is the story of Carol Bowne.

On May 26, 1980, an 18-year-old runaway was picked up by a state trooper in Minnesota, who viciously raped and murdered her while on duty. Her body was discovered about a week later and her remains were ultimately buried as an unidentified person. In 1989, her murderer confessed but sadly, she would still not be identified until 2015, when DNA was finally confirmed. This is the story of Michelle Busha.

On April 18, 2016 the body of a 45-year-old mother of three was found inside a church in Midlothian, Texas in the US. A fitness professional, she was preparing for her class at 5am when an unknown assailant murdered her. The person believed to be her murderer was seen on surveillance footage walking around the church for 30 minutes prior to her attack, breaking glass and opening doors. The footage was released and although thousands of tips were reported, her case remains unsolved. This is the story of Missy Bevers.

On June 22, 2012 a young couple went to a local park at night, while out on a date. A man ambushed them and took them below an overlook, forcing them to duct tape their eyes and mouths, he sexually assaulted one of the women before shooting them both in the head and leaving them for dead. A nationwide media frenzy ensued with many believing it to be a targeted homophobic hate crime.
