    en-usJuly 11, 2022

    Podcast Summary

    • Friends sharing experiences and adviceFocus on personal healing and self-love, embrace change, and value meaningful connections and open dialogue.

Open communication and self-reflection are essential for personal growth and healthy relationships. The discussion reveals two friends sharing their experiences, offering advice, and supporting each other through emotional upheaval. They encourage listeners not to chase after unhealthy relationships or lower self-worth, and instead focus on personal healing and self-love. The friends also highlight the importance of adapting to new environments and embracing change, even if it brings up past traumas or challenges. Overall, their conversation underscores the importance of having meaningful connections and open dialogue with those around us.

    • Envy and the Desire for BalanceWe all have unique needs and desires, and finding a balance between them is essential for a fulfilling life.

People have different preferences when it comes to their lifestyle, and these preferences can lead to feelings of envy towards others' experiences. The speaker expresses her addiction to work and productivity, but also misses the conveniences and safety of a first world country. She envies the slower pace of life and nature, but also craves certain luxuries and comforts. The speaker's experience in Tulum highlighted the stress of living in a third world country and the importance of feeling safe. Ultimately, everyone has unique needs and desires, and finding a balance between them is key to living a fulfilling life.

    • Believing in the power of loveTrusting in love and relationship strength can help overcome challenges and lead to personal growth. Following one's heart and setting high standards for relationships are important.

Trusting in the power of love and believing in the strength of a relationship can help overcome challenges and lead to personal growth. The speaker shares her experience of being torn between staying with someone she cares for deeply and returning to be with her family and dog. She trusts that if the relationship is meant to be, her partner will make it work. The discussion also touches upon the privilege of being able to travel and experience different places, while acknowledging the hard work that comes with it. Despite the challenges, the speaker emphasizes the importance of following one's heart and holding onto the belief that love will find a way. Additionally, the speaker encourages listeners to reflect on their own experiences and the standards they set for their relationships.

    • Women's Success Stories: Prioritizing Business, Personal Life, and Emotional ConnectionTwo successful women share their unique paths to financial success, emphasizing the importance of balancing business, personal life, and emotional connection, as well as owning one's financial power in relationships.

Both individuals in this discussion have achieved significant financial success through hard work and determination, but they have approached their careers and relationships differently. The first speaker, who struggled academically but found success as a business owner in the women's health industry, prioritizes her business and personal life, and is open about discussing menstruation. The second speaker, who had a privileged upbringing and became a lawyer before starting her own marketing agency, now works fewer hours while making a six-figure income. Both women have come to value emotional connection and support in their relationships, with one tending to date men who earn less than her and the other having previously dated men who earned more. They encourage women to discover their talents and natural abilities, and to own their financial power in relationships.

    • Navigating financial dynamics in relationshipsOpen communication and finding a balance are key to navigating financial dynamics in relationships. Men can provide in various ways beyond just financial support.

Navigating financial dynamics in relationships can be complex, especially when both partners have different earning capacities and desires for spending. The speaker shares her personal experience of wanting to have luxurious experiences but feeling conflicted about who should pay. She emphasizes that a man's role as a provider doesn't have to be limited to just financial aspects. Instead, men can provide in other ways, such as emotional support, protection, and shared decision-making. The conversation highlights the importance of open communication and finding a balance that works for both partners. Ultimately, the goal is to create a partnership where both individuals feel valued and supported, regardless of their financial contributions.

    • Understanding the importance of mutual support in relationshipsMutual support and understanding, not income disparities, define masculinity and femininity in a relationship.

Traditional gender roles do not determine the value or masculinity of a partner. The speaker shares how her boyfriend, who makes less money than her, supports her emotionally and physically in ways that allow her to focus on her work and be more productive. These actions, such as making breakfast or taking errands off her plate, enable her to be more feminine and feel sexier. By taking on these tasks, her boyfriend empowers her to be the best version of herself and contributes to their relationship in meaningful ways beyond just financial support. The speaker emphasizes that this dynamic has allowed her to understand the importance of mutual support and understanding in a relationship, rather than relying solely on income disparities to define masculinity or femininity.

    • Navigating Gender Roles and Financial Dynamics in a RelationshipEffective communication and understanding each other's roles and needs are crucial in a relationship. Adapt and communicate openly about sensitive topics like gender roles and financial dynamics to ensure both parties feel respected and valued.

Effective communication and understanding each other's roles and needs are crucial in a relationship. The speaker in this conversation shares her experience of navigating gender roles and financial dynamics in her relationship, where her partner isn't a cook but makes her breakfast as a meaningful gesture. She also expresses the importance of her partner taking the lead in the bedroom, which she's had to communicate. The conversation also touches upon the challenges of traditional gender roles and the financial dynamics of the relationship, where the speaker is the financial provider but wants her partner to be the provider. They have had open and loving conversations about these sensitive topics to ensure both parties feel respected and valued. Overall, the conversation highlights the importance of open communication, understanding, and adapting to each other's needs in a relationship.

    • Effective communication and role expectationsClear communication and understanding roles strengthens relationships by allowing partners to feel valued and appreciated through acts of providing and protection.

Open communication and understanding of roles and expectations in a relationship are essential for both partners to feel fulfilled and valued. The speaker shares an example of how she and her partner divide responsibilities during their travels, with him taking the lead in booking and organizing while she pays. This dynamic allows her to feel taken care of and him to feel like a provider. Additionally, she emphasizes the importance of allowing your partner to express their protective instincts and offering gratitude for their efforts, no matter how small. These small acts of providing and protection can strengthen the bond between partners and create a sense of mutual respect and appreciation.

    • Redefining financial provision and masculinity in relationshipsFind a partner who values and understands each other's roles in providing and being provided for. Small gestures and acts of chivalry can make both partners feel valued and appreciated. Communication and compassion are key to adapting to challenges and finding balance in financial security and masculine expression.

The dynamic of financial provision and masculinity in relationships can be redefined. It's not just about the traditional notion of the man making more money. Instead, it's about finding a partner who is receptive and understanding of each other's roles in providing and being provided for. Small gestures and acts of chivalry can go a long way in making both partners feel valued and appreciated. It's important to remember that these roles can be fluid and that challenges will arise. However, with open communication and compassion, both partners can learn to adapt and find joy in the financial aspects of their relationship. Ultimately, it's about finding a balance where both partners can enjoy the benefits of financial security and masculine expression.

    • Trust, communication, and embracing roles key to successful financial relationship dynamicTo build a successful relationship where the man handles finances, trust, communication, and embracing feminine and masculine roles are essential. Women should learn to receive and trust, while men need support and understanding. Clear separation between work and personal life is necessary, and women should focus on being present and receiving love.

Building a successful relationship dynamic where the man handles the finances requires trust, communication, and embracing feminine and masculine roles. For women, learning to receive and trust their partner is crucial, as historically, they may have been in masculine energy. Men, on the other hand, may struggle with the new responsibility and need support and understanding. It's essential to establish a clear delineation between work and personal life to fully embrace the feminine role and be present in the relationship. Communication and trust are key to ensuring a harmonious dynamic. Additionally, women should not feel that they have become the masculine partner in the relationship just because they are handling the finances. Instead, they should focus on being present and receiving love in their personal life.

    • Setting healthy boundaries in relationshipsCommunicating roles, respecting workspaces, and recognizing value of each partner's contributions can lead to a healthier, more satisfying relationship dynamic.

Defining and respecting roles and boundaries in a relationship, particularly around work, can lead to greater support, flow, and intimacy. The speaker shares her personal experience of feeling stressed and resentful when her partner worked in their shared space, and how they resolved this by establishing separate workspaces. She emphasizes the importance of communication and understanding each other's roles, and how this can lead to a healthier and more satisfying relationship dynamic. The concept of provision and execution was also highlighted as a game changer, encouraging listeners to reflect on their own relationships and consider how they can implement these principles. Overall, the conversation underscores the importance of open communication, setting healthy boundaries, and recognizing the value of each partner's contributions in a relationship.

156 - The Bieber Baby Announcement: The Psychology of Why You Care ft. Louise Rumball

AND HOW CAN WE REALLY BE UPSET WHEN SOMEONE WE HAVE NEVER MET ANNOUNCES THEY ARE HAVING A BABY WITH A WOMAN WHO IS NOT YOU? In today’s episode, Louise sits down to investigate the psychological and emotional aspects of celebrity worship and parasocial relationships. In this episode, Louise dives into: The slightly odd but hilarious reactions she and her friends had to the Beiber pregnancy announcement. The psychology behind celebrity worship and the three levels of parasocial relationships. Why the Selena v. Hailey/ Damon v. Stefan debates get us in a chokehold. Your circumstances and seasons do not define your outlook on life, or at least they should not. As the wind begins to change direction, so your mind must stay fixed on the truth.

The school year is about to begin. You might be working on some new projects in your life. Don't be overwhelmed by the earthly chaos.

My Gman and I were shopping for last minute school necessities and prepping for my oldest son to come and visit.

He begin to question about all the new stuff, schedules, and even what he's going to be when he grows up.

"Mom, you know how God prepares a way and He as a plan for our lives. How do I know what He wants me to do?" ~ Gman

You could just hear it in his voice. The more he talked, the more anxious he became. He has 5 years until high school graduation. It's not like he is going out into the workforce tomorrow.

As the wind begins to change direction, so your mind must stay fixed on the truth.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:6-7

The K.I.S.S. ~ Pray, listen, and watch!

    1. Pray without ceasing. Include God in your daily life. Don't call on Him only during the tough times. Be grateful in the tough and the joyful times.
    2. Listen and discern God's desires verses your wants.
    3. Watch with an open mind and heart. Don't make assumptions before anything happens.

When you are searching for what God wants for you, be willing to hear God with no contingencies. Let God do the heavy lifting.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." ~ Philippians 4:13

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

"God chose to make a people, not just isolated individuals." ~ Bonnie Kristian

Quotes and statements within the interview:

"That we are more exposed to new ideas and new religious ideas and political ideas at a faster rate than we use to be."

"Our friend bartered for it (the guinea pig)."

"They're great animals for a writer."

"Did I really do it right the first time?"

"It pushed as well to think seriously about like what do I mean when I say I'm a Christian, and how is that going to direct my life going forward."

"I did not know much and I think that's unfortunate."

"We disagreed too much with these other churches on theology stuff."

"It's really remarkable, I think, and such a challenge to look at what people have sacrificed for their faith."

"We need to know more about our history to get a better idea of how different the church has always been so that we are not troubled when we see how different it is today."

"The church has had room for these disagreements while still following Jesus together."

"For some people, and generally it tends to be younger people, when they hear flexible, they think like oh that's a good thing; that means there's going to be room for me."

"...bringing a journalistic ether to it of trying to report things thoroughly and even with the viewpoints I very much disagree with."

"Obviously, we don't want to devalue truth just so we can cooperate, right?"

"We need to not let our own like disagreements and ego get in the way."

    "Don't freak out!"

"As churches, it's super important for us to cultivate an atmosphere in which those kind of questions and research and exploration can happen without setting an artificial timeline of it."

What has your story gifted you?

    • Faith development
    • Learn from other Christian traditions that are not our own

"Having lived in different places and experienced different churches that has really been a major factor in pushing me to write this book and helping me to see the need for it."
