Joy and I discuss the classic  book “Jane Eyre” by Charlotte Brontë.  We discuss the books pros and cons and I admit to committing the “ultimate book sin” while listening to this book on audible . Joy and I were both battling sinus issues and uncontrollable coughing at times but we battled through and I was able to edit out most of the sniffles and coughs. Enjoy!!

82: Killers Of The Flower Moon

Join us as we discuss Killers of the Flower Moon, a fascinating true story about the killing of numerous Osage Indians in an effort to obtain their wealth from oil deposits found on their land.

Fun fact:  This case could not be solved from local authorities or state authorities so the citizens demanded the government do something. President Coolidge appointed J Edgar Hoover to head up a task force to investigate the murders. This was the beginning of the FBI. Our great uncle Judge Frank Johnson was asked to take over as director of the FBI in 1977 by President Jimmy Carter. In the end he couldn’t take the position due to health issues.

Joy and I discuss the book "The Witch of Blackbird Pond".  Winner of the Newberry Medal this historical  fiction book  is set in 1687 in a Puritan community in Connecticut.    For the record I had a total brain lapse when I inexplicably changed one of the characters names from Prudence to Constance. Joy had it right and I should have listened to her! Enjoy!!
