We talk about the Green Deal Pioneer Places scheme - with studio guest; Liam Muckleston from Caydoo green networking website and Brighton and Hove 10:10 partnershipIn December 2012, Brighton & Hove City Council, working with partners Brighton and Hove 10:10, The Green Building Partnership and Low Carbon Trust, successfully secured government funding to run a Green Deal pilot scheme in the city called Green Deal Pioneer Places. The Green Deal is a new government initiative designed to help householders and businesses improve the energy efficiency of their properties and therefore reduce energy bills. The Green Deal allows you to install energy-saving measures without having to pay all the costs up front. You can borrow the money to pay for the home-energy improvements, and the amount you repay should be equal to or less than the amount you are expected to save on energy bills by having the work done. We talk to Liam about the Green Deal, and how good a deal it is; for consumers and for the planet.
