    80. travel, taylor's version, transformation, & getting the f*ck off the hamster wheel

    enNovember 07, 2023

    About this Episode

Welcome back to rediscover, fam! This month's episode covers a full spectrum of topics, from fun and exciting life updates and travel plans to an in-depth examination of how to abandon societal norms, expectations, and timelines for a life filled with happiness and contentment in the here and now.

On the fun and exciting end of the spectrum, we're chatting about the highly anticipated release of 1989 (Taylor's Version)!!! We're taking it back to the 1989 era and the album's initial relase in 2014, reminiscing and rediscovering where we were and what was going on in our lives at the time. It's incredible how much that album shaped our experiences by simply playing in the background of our lives almost a decade ago, and the milestones moments that will forever be tied to those songs.

And speaking of milestone moments, Jess and Steven are about to embark on PHASE 2 of nomad life, and you won't BELIEVE where their world travel adventures are taking them next! As always, Jess has insight, inspiration, tips and advice to share as they get ready to head back out into the great wide somewhere. It's going to be pure magic, so don't miss it!

As we plunge deeper into our conversation and round out the episode, we're examining closely the words and language we use to describe our circumstances, and how shifting our perspectives and diminishing both negativity and systemic fear can help us to find joy and fulfillment in every season. We're learning how to block out the "shoulds," pave our own path, and remind ourselves that no matter where we are on our journey, we're exactly where we're meant to be.

That's something to contemplate as the holiday season approaches, and we hope that our experiences and all that we've learned and discovered (or rediscovered) about ourselves will help you to embody your fullest, most authentic self in every context that you find yourself in. So if you're at Thanksgiving dinner and you notice the conversation steering itself in your direction, we're with you in solidarity and in spirit - you've got this!

Happy Thanksgiving from our little rediscover fam to you and yours - we're so thankful to be on this wild and wonderful journey with you!

    84. pulling back the curtain on perfection: what you don't see on social media, creating problems that don't exist, and feeling guilty for having a bad day when good things are happening
    hey, rediscover fam.
this month's episode is a little different from our more recent ones. in our own ways, we've both been feeling a little vulnerable, a little refelctive, a little...low. so, in the spirit of staying true to our pillar of authenticity, we're pulling back the curtain and sharing some of the more challenging mindsets we've been trying to shift recently, and the internal battles that we've each struggled to overcome.

this episode might have a less vibrant feel than usual, and our tone might be more subdued, but this conversation is one of the most real, raw, and honest ones we've ever had on the show. we'll discuss:
    • the self-care industry and the innumerable marketing schemes that try to sell us a "better" life than the one we're living now
    • how being a chronic "fixer" can cause us to create problems where there were none
    • the pressures and expectations of having a social media presence, and how living life online can blur boundaries and breed unrealistic expectations
    • societal expectations and how major life milestones can cause a tidal wave of unsolicited opinions
    • why we feel guilty for having bad days when we're supposed to be happy
    • & more!

if you're in the midst of a challenging season, a significant life change, or you're just working on abandoning old minsets for new and more supportive ones, we hope this episode provides a little wisdom, a bit of solidarity, and a place to begin. we love you all, thanks for listening!

    83. JESS SAID YES!!! 💍 the full proposal story with a live reaction and reflections on love

Hello everyone and welcome back to rediscover! We officially have two engaged girlies here on rediscover now, as Jess just got to experience her own magical proposal while out traveling in Finland! Listen along so you can hear the full story!

The engagement happened less than 48 hours before recording this episode, so we had the very special opportunity to record Kristen's live reaction to finding out the news. This is such a cherished memory and milestone in our journeys, and we're so glad you're all here with us as it unfolds.

We are both officially entering our bridal era with full hearts, open minds, and more excitement than younger versions of ourselves could've ever imagined.

    82. it's here! the new year pep talk you didn't know you needed to rediscover your most authentic self in 2024
Happy New Year, rediscover fam! Instead of sprinting into 2024, we're easing into the marathon of a brand new year with new perspectives, mindset shifts, and realizations that we can turn into lasting resolutions. Instead of cultivating unrealistic goals and expectations, we're exploring the small changes that have the potential to create big, impactful ripples in our lives this year, and dismantling the societal idealization of New Years resolutions that can leave us feeling burnt out, drained, and uninspired. We hope that some of our intentions for the year ahead will inspire you, and that you'll come along with us as we lean (gently) into a new year of rediscovering our most authentic selves, together. So cuddle up with a blanket, turn on those twinkle lights, and wrap both hands around your mug of something cozy, because we're welcoming the new year in our hygge era!

    79. be the observer with unwavering faith | approaching the fall season with purpose & intention

Welcome back to another episode of rediscover! rediscover has officially been around for 3 whole years, can you believe it?!

Today's episode was recorded on September 17th, which was rediscover's original release date back in 2020. Whether you are a brand new listener or an OG, we are so thankful to have you as part of our rediscover fam.

Today's episode honors the journey we have been on, not only with this podcast but within life itself. There is no ultimate "outcome" with what we do here - only an evolution of styles, topics, lessons, and connections.

Our conversation today also dove into reevaluating our "why" of posting on social media. It feels like there's a change in the winds in the way we share and consume content. It will be exciting to see how it all unfolds!

Whether it be social media or something else, we realize how important it is to detach and be the observer of everything that crosses our paths. We know these things are not who we are but rather something we do or experience - and that makes for a whole different approach.

When you practice the "law of unwavering faith" things often happen within the 11th hour. So let's reflect on past examples of where instances like this unfolded, accept that doubt can exist in the process, and relax in the Knowing that everything truly happens in its perfect time.

    78. KRISTEN SAID YES!!! 💍 full circle moments, being present, and embracing seasons of transition

Welcome to rediscover! Whether this is your first time listening or you've been with us since the beginning, this episode promises to be one of our most pivotal and exciting of all-time! We're sharing some incredible full-circle moments, personal growth epiphanies, and a BIG life announcement! With Mercury still in the microwave...what else could you expect!?

rediscover is all about embracing seasons of transition, and September is the perfect month to do just that. As we say farewell to the Summer For the Girls and look forward to romanticizing our lives in Autumn, we're grounding ourselves in this moment (it's all we have!) and reflecting on how growing up and growing older has not only shifted our prioirties, but our whole outlook on life, living well, and being present.

this month's episode is a celebration of the here and now, not what's coming next or all the things that came before. it's an opportunity to practice presence, and we hope you'll find peace and contentment in joining us in this space. the (intentional) wedding plans can wait...we're savoring September! 🍁🍂☕️

    77. it's a summer for the girls: taylor swift eras tour & barbie movie review | spiritual growth & main character energy for leo season

Buckle up girls, gays, theys, and golden retriever boyfriends because this episode is for you. It’s a summer for the girls and today on rediscover WE ARE GETTING INTO IT!

Why is it a summer for the girls, you ask? Well, to put it simply, it's the summer of The Eras Tour and The Barbie Movie. What a magnificent time to be alive! We are bringing you full reviews, first impressions, and truly celebrating what it means to be a woman.

The journey of womanhood is one of so much beauty, but also has so many complexities and layers. It can be extremely humbling at times, especially when we need to question our own views that have been fed to us from the lens of the patriarchal structure we were born into. It's exciting to break down these walls, see things from a more curious and neutral standpoint, and to choose AGAIN for the highest good of all. It's such a gift to be able to reclaim and nurture our innate feminine nature.

So today, we'll talk Taylor Swift. We'll talk Barbie. We're going to go into some deep spiritual growth topics and even stock up your summer reading list! This episode is the perfect one for Leo season and we're so excited to have this super fun (and important!) conversation with you. 💖

    75. the real life chaos of gemini season

    75. the real life chaos of gemini season

Hello everyone and welcome back to rediscover! While last month's episode was very grounded in true Taurus season nature, this month's episode took us for a chaotic ride as Gemini season is in full swing. We started the episode off by easing into some typical conversations about summertime excitement, checking in on Jess' Costa Rica Travels, and sending love to our pets who are sick or passed on.

As the episode continues, Steven enters the scene with an ear infection, the air conditioner in Jess's hostel needed repairs, we lost half of a zoom recording, and Kristen's calm night of dog-sitting turned into monitoring a tick!

However, even with all of that chaos, we still had time to discuss the Live-Action remake of The Little Mermaid.

So if you're looking for a more real and raw rediscover episode, this one is for you. Thanks for sticking with us through ALL seasons of time, and we will talk to you soon!
