This type of spin is particularly challenging for pilots to recover from because the standard spin recovery techniques may be less effective. Flat spins can be initiated by inappropriate control inputs, uncoordinated flight, or other aerodynamic disturbances that upset the balance of forces acting on the aircraft. Recognizing and preventing flat spins are crucial aspects of pilot training and recovery procedures vary depending on the specific characteristics of the aircraft involved.
