    • Middle East Tensions and Labor Party ScrutinyIsraeli air strikes cause civilian casualties, Labor Party candidate faces scrutiny, NATO members urged to meet financial obligations

Tensions continue to escalate in the Middle East, with air strikes in Gaza resulting in civilian casualties. Israel is urging civilians to evacuate certain areas to protect them from harm, while accusations of forced displacement persist. Meanwhile, in the UK, the Labor Party's candidate for Rochdale is facing scrutiny over past comments regarding Israel and Hamas. The party maintains that progress has been made in addressing anti-Semitism within its ranks. Elsewhere, the security minister emphasized the importance of countries meeting their NATO financial obligations, in response to comments from former President Trump encouraging Russia to target those who don't pay their fair share. Overall, this podcast highlights ongoing geopolitical tensions and the ongoing efforts to address internal and external challenges.

    • Rural Communities in England Feel Disconnected from Major Political PartiesA poll shows that only a quarter of rural residents believe major UK political parties understand or respect them, signaling an opportunity for increased political engagement and addressing their concerns.

The US government and people have consistently supported NATO, but there's a significant disconnect between rural communities in England and both major political parties. A recent poll revealed that only 25% of those surveyed believe the Conservatives understand or respect rural communities, while 28% felt the same about the Labour Party. This indicates a large opportunity for political engagement and addressing the concerns of rural communities. Great Scott! Obama Has a Time Machine!

Great Scott! Obama Has a Time Machine!

In the second segment of this week's show we turn our attention to the week in news.

Libya: Is the U.S. engaging in third conflict in the Middle East? Did Obama require Congressional approval before launching Cruise missiles into the country? What is the "mission", end-game and role of the U.S. and NATO allies in enforcing the no-fly zone? Is it possible to support the fall of Gaddafi, yet not have to commit long-term to the potential aftermath of a country without leadership and/or prolonged nation-building to fill any vacuum left by Gaddafi’s overthrow? We attempt to bring light to the events in Libya and what we view as the major issues facing U.S. involvement.

Obama’s Birth Certificate: Can we finally put this ridiculous narrative to bed? In this portion of the segment, we discuss the overwhelming evidence of Obama’s citizenship and birth in Hawaii, and why those who perpetuate this story are grasping at pathetic straws due to the lack of any other substantive or real argument about the man and his policies. We also address the issue of the GOP’s obsession with Obama’s father and his supposed “influence” on the President’s world-view.

Politics: We round out the segment with some 2012 Presidential election discussion and what we see as the issues facing the incumbent President, in addition to the issues facing the GOP and their split allegiances between the traditional conservative voters and the nonsensical rhetoric of the Tea Party. Can the GOP win by hugging the fence between “birthers” and the more moderate conservative and independent voters? Is it possible to be considered a serious candidate, while embracing the rhetoric of the far-right / Tea Party?

He shares his experiences growing up after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, his experiences traveling in Western Europe as an Eastern European, learning to let go of certain things in Asia, Lithuanian Reggae, and reflections on culture and politics from his years living in Turkey. There's some naughty language at the end.
