    Amy Schumer joins the cast of Only Murders in the Building season 2

    Hit 2021 TV series Only Murders in the Building, starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez is returning for a second season on June 28 this year. Available on Disney+ Hotstar in India, the series has added comedian Amy Schumer to its cast. Schumer will essay the role of an exaggerated version of herself. 

    Cara Delevingne has also been announced to appear in the second season.

    Biopic on Tupac Shakur and his mother to premiere this year

    FX has announced a new documentary focusing on the late rapper Tupac Shakur and his mother. The series will premiere later this year and is directed by Allen Hughes. It will feature the lives of both individuals, highlighting the various obstacles they faced during their lifetime. The series is titled, Dear Mama, after Tupac’s song of the same name that explores his relationship with his mother.

    New Queen Elizabeth documentary to be released by BBC

    A new documentary titled, Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen, by BBC, is set to release on May 29 this year. The series will release during the week of celebrating British monarch Queen Elizabeth's 70 years on the throne. BBC has been granted unprecedented access to exclusive home footage recorded by herself and other members of the Royal family. The documentary will feature the Queen’s life, from her birth to her coronation in 1953, and to the present day. 

    Ncuti Gatwa cast as new Doctor Who

    Ncuti Gatwa, the star of the hit Netflix comedy series, Sex Education, has been cast as the iconic Doctor Who in the long-running British sci-fi eponymous series. He will replace Jodie Whittaker in a role previously essayed by acclaimed actors such as Peter Capaldi, Matt Smith, and David Tennant. 

    OTT releases of this week

    The fourth instalment of the legendary Matrix franchise, Matrix Resseructions, starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas is set to be released on Amazon Prime in India on the 12th of May this week. Directed by  Lana Wachowski, the film hit theatres in December last year, nearly 18 years after the third film.

    Tamil superstar Vijay’s upcoming film Beast is set for a Netflix release on Wednesday the 11th of May. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the action-thriller film also stars Pooja Hegde, K. Selvaraghavan, and Yogi Babu

    The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri and starring Mithun Chakraborty and Anupam Kher, is set to make its OTT debut. The film will release on Zee5 this weekend on Friday the 13th of May. 

    Academy Award-nominated Norwegian film The Worst Person in the World will be available to stream on Mubi on 13 May. Directed by Joachim Trier, the drama film stars Anders Danielsen Lie and Renate Reinsve.

    A historic biopic based on the life of King Prithviraj Chauhan and his battle with Muhammad of Ghor, starring Akshay Kumar in the lead, is set to release in theatres on June 3. Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the film also stars, Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Ali Fazal, and Manushi Chhillar.

    According to recent reports, Ming-Na Wen will join the cast of The Karate Kid sequel. Ming-Na Wen, best known for playing Fennec Shand in the Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett, a spinoff of The Mandalorian, stars in the upcoming film alongside Joshua Jackson, Ralph Macchio, Jackie Chan, and Ben Wang. Wen's part is fairly confidential, as is the narrative of the new film, which will incorporate the re-telling of a Chinese youngster navigating his life through martial arts.
