Albert Mohler: Reality Is Biting Back
Sometimes reality is really hard to deny. You can try it, but reality has a way of proving itself to be real. The truth has a way of pushing itself out front, proving itself to be true.
Consider this recent headline from the Los Angeles Times: “Liberal San Francisco To Get Tough On Drug Crimes” with the subhead: “Facing a crisis, the city will consider murder charges for dealers in fatal opioid overdoses.”
Now, this is bizarre. It’s very telling at every turn. We have liberal prosecutors who quite frankly have been running for their lives. You have some in California who have been removed from office. All of us across the country had better be watching this very carefully.
The big point here is that we’re seeing sin show up as crime, in all of its deadliness, and in this case it’s just irrefutable. And eventually, even in a place like liberal San Francisco—and yes, Los Angeles called San Fransisco “liberal”—you have legal authorities, based upon cries for rescue from the people, who are saying, “You’ve got to do something about this!”
In other words, reality is biting back.
