    About this Episode

What does the Appalachian Trail have to do with technology? I’m not sure but I enjoyed chatting with a few hikers I ran into at the historic Pen-Mar Park at the Pennsylvania / Maryland border so I though I would share this video with you. This is a good demo of the Canon SD630 in video mode. I wrap it up with some music at the Pen-Mar pavilion where there is live entertainment every Sunday afternoon throughout the summer. If you’re ever in the area stop in and visit!

This 77Bird podcast was produced with Apple’s GarageBand software that now supports podcast production including embedding photos in chapters. You’ll notice the photos change when I transition to new singers. However, file is in .m4a format and so may not work with RealPlayer. It is best to subscribe through iTunes where the file works perfectly. Alternatively, download Media Player Classic from http://www.free-codecs.com/Media_Player_Classic_download.htm If anyone knows how to make these m4a files work with all players please let me know! Songs came from http://GarageBand.com and were free although not all songs on the site are free. Enjoy!

The main goal here at 77Bird is to come up with easy (for the average Internet user), scalable Internet based solutions for our clients that serve a meaningful purpose. Anyone can achieve a goal by spending a lot of money and time but it takes some imagination to figure out how to do the same thing faster and with less resources. Canon PowerShot SD 630 Video Review

Canon PowerShot SD 630 Video Review
Video review of the Canon PowerShot SD630. This camera is thinner, faster and better than my two-year old PowerShot S400 (which is a great camera). The huge LCD is bright and works great even in daylight. Low-light shots come out when lesser cameras would fail. The SD630 is a jewel! If you buy one of these cameras be sure to get the correct Canon leather case with the belt loop. The cases are custom made for the camera and the wrong case WILL NOT work. Also, I would get at least the 1 gig high speed SD card if you plan on shooting much in the way of videos and keep your videos short. While you’re at it pick up an extra battery if you plan on taking a lot of photos. Lee at http://TheBestThings.com can supply all of the above and tell him Craig from AreaGuides sent you. Hope you enjoy the review. http://www.77Bird.com Podcast

Google Custom Homepage + GMail (Video)

Google Custom Homepage + GMail (Video)
This video gives a quick look at customizing your Google homepage and using GMail and the Google Calendar. All FREE stuff! I especially like having my notes, e-mail, calendar, bookmarks, news feeds and much more all web-based. This means this information is not on my computer so I can access my “homepage” anywhere from any computer that has an Internet connection. This is especially nice if you travel a lot. And with 3 gigs of storage space FREE with GMail you can store huge amounts of data including Word documents, photos, etc. Combine this with services like PhotoBucket and you may not need to store any data on your computer except as a backup.
