    About this Episode

[Link to watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/K3zQz2KEx84]

The process of getting a job can be stressful for anyone, but it’s particularly challenging for international students in the US. I wasn’t an exception—in fact, majoring in Marketing was probably one of the riskiest decisions for me or anyone who wanted to find sponsorship from prospective employers. It was an incredibly lonely period for me, filled with self-doubt after countless rejections. There was no guarantee that there’d be a light at the end of the tunnel, and I struggled to find advice that truly resonated with my challenges.

In this episode, I want to share with you a snippet of my conversation with students from Fordham Gabelli School of Business about the best practices when applying and interviewing for jobs. If you can relate to my story or feel lost in your job search journey, here's the real talk I wish I had when I was in school.

I hope you’ll find it helpful. Good luck! 🍀

Special thanks to Dean Kate Kennon, Professor Linda Luca, Susan McGowan, and all the students who attended and engaged in the session at @fordhamgsb.

Bloom in Crisis is the embodiment of hope — it is a belief, a practice, a state of being that empowers you to skillfully regulate emotions, build spiritual resilience, enhance self-awareness, unleash the potential of your mind, foster a grateful heart, cultivate joy, nurture positive energy, promote inner peace, grow self-compassion and compassion for others, embrace the present moment, derive wisdom from introspection, transform pain into grace, recognize positive possibilities even in adversity, and actively shape your narrative, ultimately leading to a happy and fulfilled life (with a touch of style!)

Welp... you're probably not going to remember all of these, and neither am I (!) which is why internalizing the concept of "bloom in crisis" instead of trying to memorize what it means is important. Luckily, we can all do it by practicing consistently.

While I'm incredibly grateful for my journey, I know firsthand how painful and lonely it is to go through tough times alone — it urges me to give back and help others as much as I can in my lifetime. Bloom in Crisis has been transforming me and many others for the better, and I would love for you to give it a try!

Believing that everyone is a bloomer and we #bloomincrisis together, I founded Bloom in Crisis to share with you how I practice it and what I've learned throughout my journey, which, I hope, will be helpful for you in yours.

Tame your ego and overcome self-doubt with one practice // Dharma Choice Phap Tuyen & Zip Nguyen (Part 2)

Many people find it surprising when I say I don’t often go to temples or read spiritual books, even though deep down, I know that I’m very spiritual and have been practicing mindfulness intuitively for a long time. While I’ve heard of the Blue Cliff Monastery for the last eight years and had always wanted to visit, it hadn’t been at the forefront of my mind until last weekend when I finally made the trip... and despite the rain, I’m so glad I did! I’ll never forget the song ‘Understanding and Compassion’ (Hiểu và Thương) that we sang together as a community, the mindful eating with the tastiest vegetarian food, sharing my learnings with Dharma Choice (Thầy Pháp Tuyển), and learning from him as we walked around the monastery. This conversation, like most of those that I’ve shared on this channel, came together in the spur of the moment ☺️

    [English translation]

Brothers and sisters from all over the world

    Siblings from across the continents

No distinction in skin color or religion

Let's come together to build and spread love

    Understanding and compassion

    Understanding and compassion

    With understanding comes compassion

The deeper the understanding, the wider the compassion

The wider the understanding, the deeper the compassion

    Deep understanding, profound compassion

    Understanding and compassion

    Understanding and compassion

    [Vietnamese lyrics]

Anh em ta từ bốn phương trời

Chị em ta từ khắp năm châu

Không phân biệt màu da tôn giáo

Cùng về đây xây đắp yêu thương

Hiểu và thương Hiểu và thương

    Có hiểu mới có thương

Healing energy can be circulated by simply doing this... // Beverley Roberts & Zip Nguyen

Many unexpected things have happened in my life, and my experience at Monkey Island Estate is one of them 💛 After having the best facial with Sophie on my first day at the floating spa, I decided to return for another massage with Beverley the next day. It was nothing short of miraculous. Although I wasn’t consciously seeking healing energy at that time and had no specific expectations before entering, I sensed that I needed it and followed my intuition.

After our session, Beverley and I had a little chat that naturally flowed from one topic to another. Feeling completely unlocked and at peace, I couldn’t resist asking Beverley if I could record our conversation to share with you before she had to leave. No agenda, no makeup, no checking in the mirror or trying to fix anything—I just went for it. Instead of attempting to describe the healing energy I experienced, I’d love for you to feel it while listening to our conversation. Energy doesn’t need to be created, and this is why… ✨

    Hope you enjoy it x

Do these to build and sustain a happy relationship // Jeff, Saralyn, & Zip Nguyen

The first time I met Jeff and Saralyn, we were seated next to each other at a charming restaurant in Washington DC. Our initial exchange revolved around the delightfully delicious food, yet unexpectedly, it evolved into an unforgettable experience. With every word we shared, I grew more captivated by their genuine affection and unwavering love, even after 33 years together. Their remarkable ability to nurture such a profound connection left a deep impression on me. I found myself absorbing invaluable lessons from their journey, not only through their words but also their behaviors.

After meeting them, I was deeply touched, inspired, and transformed for the better.

Believing their love and wisdom should be more widely spread, in a spontaneous moment, I asked Jeff and Saralyn if they'd be open to letting me record our ongoing conversation so that I could share their treasured insights with you all.

No formal introduction. No pre-written script. No rehearsed lines.

Just an unfiltered exchange and a natural connection of the souls.

And this is how they grow their love together…

In this episode, I'm excited to introduce you to my favorite yoga teacher, Briana Penzarella. Perhaps one of the things many people don't know about me is that, while I might manage to stay cool, calm, and collected on the outside (as I've been told), I actually cope with anxiety quite often. Practicing yoga regularly has become one of my grounding forces. It's been proven highly effective for me, but there's much more to it than meets the eye.

Check out Briana Penzarella's chanting playlist on Spotify:

Like it or not, we all have those times when we're just plain upset. I'm hoping that by letting you guys in on what I personally do when I'm feeling down—especially in real moments like this one—it might lend you a hand when you're feeling a bit low, too.

I know it sounds strange, but feeling upset can also actually be a good thing. Hang in there with me till the end of this video and you'll see just why that is... x

3 practical ways to set boundaries in relationships (with Phuonggy Pham)

3 practical ways to set boundaries in relationships (with Phuonggy Pham)

[Link to watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/IGgengwTw5E]

Setting boundaries has always been a challenge for me, and it's something I've grappled with throughout my life. In many Asian cultures, the concept of boundaries isn't frequently discussed since the emphasis often lies on being group-oriented and prioritizing others' needs over our own. Sacrificing for the greater good is deeply ingrained in our upbringing.

In this episode, I'm happy to have my dear friend and sister, Phuonggy Pham, join me as we discuss this topic. Memorizing how to set boundaries isn't something that will ever come naturally to me, so here are the techniques that I apply in my life to help me with this. If you're also struggling with setting boundaries, particularly in relationships, we hope our conversation can offer some guidance and add value to your life as well x

Here's the link to the podcast episode in which Phuonggy also interviewed me on her podcast, "Dear Future Daughters" (Episode 2: You All Have a Voice) if you want to give it a listen!
