This week we sit down with Stu Bithell, Andy 'Taxi' Davis, and Simon Blake to discuss the Melin Rocket, a unique UK boat. The class was created by the merger of the Merlin and Rocket classes in the 1940's. The Merlin Rocket is designed to a box rule and as a result the boats have evolved and are thoroughly modern designs with plenty of strings to pull. They have a lot of great regattas and traditions that make them successful. We have watched them from afar for a lifetime, so were very keen to learn more about this class. Again it was a great chat. This week we chatted to Stu Bithell. Silver 2012 Olympics 470, Gold 2020(1) Olympics 49er, wing trimmer German SailGP team. Had a ball. Great guy, great chat. Stu was all class, even when we completely stuffed his SailGP skippers name up and started rabbiting on about the Swiss skipper, Stu subtly corrected us but we were too engrossed in what we were saying to catch on. Our friends at the Magenta Project are assembling a team to compete in some of the 69F foiling series. The all woman team represents a diverse range of nations. They are young and enthusiastic. We took the chance to talk with their skipper, the No2 ranked female Waszp sailor in the World, Alice Senior. She made us feel old.

This week we wanted to look at how hard running an event like the ILCA 7 Worlds really is for volunteer run yacht clubs, and what the requirements World Sailing have of the clubs to ensure it is a World standard event. We have this conversation all the time with people who have put their hand up to run World Championships. For this Ep. we chatted to Peter Royle, Commodore Adelaide Sailing Club. Pete is a lifetime competitive sailor and he tells us about the work his team put in, what they had to consider and the help ASC received from all the clubs in South Australia. We thought it was an important discussion. Pete is a long-term mate, so it was a fun and open conversation.

This week we talk to Yachting expert Peter McGonagle and Global Adventurers Anita and Knut who have been sailing their Outremer 45 Mais Uma around the World. For years Outremer have offered training to new owners of their boats to equip them with the skills to cruise the globe. The owners of Outremer - Grand Large Yachting have now started to conduct seminars which are open to everyone and the next one is at the Miami International Boat Show February 17.
