Hello and welcome to Beat City, the most varied New Music podcast on the internet bar none. This week featuring indie from London's Pumarosa, Toronto's The Strumbellas and Elvis Depressedly from Ashevill, North Carolina which sounds from their records like its a barrel lf laughs to live in. There's a track from the new album by the mighty Yeasayer which could well be their best work since the debut "All Hour Symbols" all those years ago (well, 2007) There's hip hop from Tunji Ige's excellent new record which has a synth sample I just can not place try as I might, see if you have better luck ... and this week's featured album is also a hip hop record and its one we're really excited about here in Beat City. Its the new album by by Father, the mainman behind the Awful Records label, featuring a host of Awful Records artists including the great Tommy Genesis who regular listeners to the show may remember me featuring a LOT last year. You'll hear three or four tracks from that album . There's also, unusually for this show but most welcome, a cracking new country track from Margo Price and a couple of stonking slices of punk thrash from Bristol punks The Migraines There's The Evil Usses (also from Bristol), who kind of defy categorisation but are fantastic ... and folk from Boreas from Norway / Scotland and the Malawi Mouse Boys from Malawi. Full tracklisting: Yeasayer "Cold Night" (from the album "Amen And Goodbye") The Migraines "Pussies" (demo available from bandcamp) Pumarosa "Cecile" (single) Hans Zimmer And Junkie XL - "Batman v Superman : Dawn Of Justice| (soundtrack excerpt) Father "Why Don't U?" Beat City 70 - Strange Emotional (feat album 2013 by Meilyr Jones)

Beat City 70 - Strange Emotional (feat album 2013 by Meilyr Jones)
Meilyr Jones' "2013" sounds like one of the albums of 2016, even at this early stage. Mind you the same could be said of Steven James Adams' "Old Magick", Nervous Twitch's "Don't Take My TV"). Come to think of it, the debut by Golden Daze and the latest from Sioux Falls aren't too shabby either. Oh yeah, and the ADHD EP by Darq E Freaker's gonna be a belter too. All these artists are featured on this edition of Beat City, as well as Eastern European bands Bledi Boraku (from Albania) and Zahlada (from Poland) ; Sal's Indietastic Classic from Travis (introduced by Sal herself, after delicate negotiations and bribery) ; The best-named band we've heard in a very long time in Elvis Depressedly ; Lets Eat Grandma who may well be the best teenage-girl duo since Daphne & Celeste, and the best thing to come out of Norwich since the A11 ; Full tracklisting (with links and Twitter handles where we could find them) Nervous Twitch "Another Fight" (from the album 'Don't Take My TV) Kagoule "Pharmacy" Meilyr Jones "Strange Emotional" (from the album '2013') Darq E Freaker "2C-I" Sioux Falls "Dom" (from the album "Rot Forever") Travis "3 Miles High" The Byrds "Eight Miles High" Golden Daze "Sleepin' In The Sun" (from the album "Golden Daze") Zahlada "Diabelek" (from the album "Zwidy") Steven James Adams "Sea Of Words" (from the album "Old Magick") Elvis Depressedly "No More Sad Songs (n.m.s.s.)" (from the album "New Alhambra") Bledi Boraku "Njishi" (from the EP "Ftoji") Let's Eat Grandma "Deep Six Textbook" Meilyr Jones "Olivia" (from the album "2013") Follow Beat City on that Twitter https:/www.twitter.com/beatcitytone Beat '66 podcast at https:/www.podomatic.com/retrobeatcity Music blog here www.tonythegigguy.com Beat City Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/TonyTheGigGuy/?fref=ts Thank you.
