QYJS Does True Crime: American Nightmare Part 1: The Boyfriend

QYJS Does True Crime: American Nightmare Part 1: The Boyfriend

Quit Your Job, Sis host Lindsay Hanson is stepping into her true crime podcasting era with BFF Katie Meegs.

This is going to be a little different than your normal QYJS content.

In this episode, Lindsay and Katie discuss the Netflix docuseries “American Nightmare,” the story of the kidnapping of Denise Huskins.

If you haven’t heard of this case, buckle up because this one is going to be a wild ride.

On March 23, 2015, Denise Huskins and Aaron Quinn were asleep at home in Vallejo, California, when they were awoken by bright lights and strange men in their bedroom.

Aaron is told to lie on his stomach, Denise is directed to tie Aaron up, and then they are both drugged. Shortly thereafter, Denise is taken from her boyfriend’s home.

    It’s a “classic” kidnapping story… until it isn’t.

Listen as Lindsay and Katie walk through the events that unfold in this 3-part docuseries, starting with Part 1: The Boyfriend.

    You won’t believe what happens.

UNHINGED EP 8: Unpacking Relationship Traumas w/ Katie Meegs

UNHINGED EP 8: Unpacking Relationship Traumas w/ Katie Meegs

TW: divorce, emotional abuse, narcissistic abuse

Katie’s back for another BFF chat about our healing journeys in our respective relationships. Each of us has been through very different and very difficult experiences that have deeply affected how we act and think about our current relationships.

In this episode, Katie and I get together to reflect on past relationship traumas and patterns that we worked to heal from.

These topics are very emotionally charged, and each of us has put in incredible amounts of work to heal from these traumas and grow from our experiences. We speak about these now as two women who have processed and moved past these difficult times in our lives.

    Join us as we discuss:

    • The trauma of being a child of divorce, your partner being a child of divorce, and understanding how that affects you
    • Being cheated on, the betrayal, and the emotions that come with it
    • Experiencing emotional abuse and gaslighting in a relationship
    • What it's like being in a relationship with a narcissist and “never being enough”
    • Awkward first dates
    • Getting dumped over AIM - IYKYK

We are sharing our journeys in the hopes that it makes you feel less alone if you relate to any of this.

I hope this episode helps you take steps to healing your own traumas and identifying patterns in your relationship or your life that are not serving you.

This conversation gets a little heavy, but please know that I love you, and I am here for you always.

UNHINGED EP 7: Wedding Planning Isn’t Stressful (And Other Hot Takes)

UNHINGED EP 7: Wedding Planning Isn’t Stressful (And Other Hot Takes)

Wedding planning doesn’t have to be stressful.

    Lindsay, what?!

I’ll say it again for the people in the back: wedding planning doesn’t have to be stressful.

In this episode of Quit Your Job, Sis: Unhinged, I share my hot takes on all things wedding planning:

    • Your wedding planning mindset – you control whether it's stressful or not
    • Nailing down your (and your partner’s) priorities – this helps you set a budget and focus on the things that you and your partner really value
    • Why we’re doing a first look and private vows
    • One thing about me: I will be snacking; a rant about the fact that we WILL be eating the food we selected for our wedding day
    • In-laws/parents helping to pay for your wedding – you don’t have to do what they want just because they’re helping fund your budget
    • Why I think wedding favors are completely overrated

Whether you’re planning a wedding or have just gone through it, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Do you think wedding planning is stressful?

Listen to this week’s episode to hear some unhinged thoughts on planning my wedding, what the process looks like, and why it's not as stressful as everyone claims.

UNHINGED EP 6: Embracing “Failure” - Lindsay’s Journey of Struggles and Successes

UNHINGED EP 6: Embracing “Failure” - Lindsay’s Journey of Struggles and Successes

Welcome back to another episode of Quit Your Job, Sis: Unhinged!

In this episode, I take you back to the very beginning, and I dive deep into all my “failures” as an entrepreneur:

    • from quitting my job
    • to signing my first clients,
    • to having a client back out of working with me
    • and the multiple failed program launches

I discuss the fear of failure and its integral part in the entrepreneurial process. I share about my success - not to brag, but to shed light on the hurdles I’ve faced in the hopes that it inspires your journey, too.

I discuss the challenges that I faced despite small wins and struggling to pay my bills. How I reached a breaking point, how I handled each experience, and how they led me to where I am now.

My story is a testament to the power of persistence and the willingness to seek help when I need it. Through all the ups and downs, I’ve learned the value and importance of handling setbacks gracefully of not letting them stop me from chasing my dreams. I’ve learned the importance of believing I was worth it and investing in myself, even when finances were tight.

Remember: every successful entrepreneur has faced their share of failures and uncertainties. It's how we handle those challenges that define our journey.

Tune in to this week’s episode for some unfiltered inspiration and valuable insights on what it means to “fail” in business.

UNHINGED EP 4: How I Accidentally Created A Full-Blown Digital Marketing Agency

The path to building the business of your dreams isn’t going to be predictable. Take it from a girl who planned to run a coaching business, not become a social media manager.

Would I change any of it? Not at all.

In this episode, I talk about my unexpected journey to creating a full-blown digital marketing agency. I dive into how I grew from being a solo freelancer to building out my team - what I recommend, what I would do differently, and everything in between.

    Join me as I discuss:

    • Things I would have done differently if I were starting all over again from scratch
    • How to price your services and structure your offers
    • How, despite never marketing my social media management, it has consistently grown month after month
    • Leaning into the things that come easy to you, allowing growing your business to be easy

UNHINGED EP 3: Time Doesn’t Stop - Making the Most of Life’s Adventures w/ my BFF Katie Meegs

Have you ever stopped to think about the passage of time? How it never stops; how it's always moving forward?

It can be a terrifying thought: not ever being able to return to a moment in time, never being able to go backwards, to get something back, but it can also be a powerful motivator.

In this episode, I invite my long-time BFF Katie Meegs to sit down and chat about the essence of time: what even is it?

Join us as we talk about:

    • The realization that time never stops, how we’re all just winging it through adulthood
    • The wisdom, confidence, and strengths that come with age, emphasizing that every year adds a new layer of knowledge and beauty into our lives
    • The concept of time and existence and how time is not linear
    • Embracing change: job dissatisfaction and self-awareness, prioritizing relationships, and enjoying the wild ride that is life
    • Your Life Path: Is it manifestation, or is it the path you were always meant to be on?

This episode is intended to serve as a gentle reminder that your journey is uniquely yours. Even though time never stops for anyone, you’re not behind “where you should be.” You’re exactly where you need to be.

Embrace every stage, and live your life unapologetically. It's not too late to quit your job, chase your dreams, or learn something new. The time is now, and you are unstoppable.

Tune into this week's episode for a deep dive into this universal yet deeply personal topic – time and its unstoppable passage.

    Are you ready?
