    About this Episode

Bhagavad Gita" Ch. 2a: The Qualities of the Soul

Arjuna submits to Lord Krishna as His disciple, and Krishna begins His teachings to Arjuna by explaining the fundamental distinction between the temporary material body and the eternal spiritual soul.

Krishna tells him that the soul cannot be killed and is immortal. After the death of the body the soul goes into another body and one who is wise is not disturbed by such a change of bodies. This is what we now refers to as reincarnation or transmigration of the soul.

We also discuss the qualities of the soul and how to connect with it in our daily life.

    What is the Bhagavad Gita?
The Bhagavad Gita (The Divine Song) was written 3000 BC by Vyasa. It is a discussion between Krishna and Arjuna, on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, India.

The Gita is considered by spiritual gurus to be the oldest, wisest and most powerful spiritual teaching in the world. It presents a practical path to enlightenment/awakening/self-realization through union with the divine. It speaks about various processes that lead to spiritual evolution culminating in divine love or bhakti-yoga.

The Gita delves into a wide range of topics including meditation, the soul, reincarnation, karma, God, divine love and so much more.

If you want to learn how to master this human existence and become free from suffering, then this program is meant for you.

I consider the Gita to be the most important instruction for any spiritual seeker. It contains the perfect message to help us deal with the chaos and darkness in our world today. I look forward to you joining us.

Arjuna is still confused. He wants to retire from active life and be a monk. But Krishna says, “no. Do your dharma, your duty and fight! But do it in a spirit of renunciation and offer all the results to the Supreme. This is the best purification. By working without attachment, one attains the Supreme. destination”

Performing sacrifices for the pleasure of the Divine or God, guarantees freedom from karmic reactions. A self-realized person never gives up his or her duty. He acts for the sake of welfare of others.

Everyone must engage in some sort of activity in this material world. But actions can either bind one to this world or liberate one from it. By acting for the pleasure of the Supreme, without selfish motives, one can be liberated from the law of karma (action and reaction) and attain transcendental knowledge of the self and the Supreme.

Bhagavad Gita" Ch. 1: Arjun's Dilemma - confusion, indecision, chaos

Bhagavad Gita" Ch. 1: Arjun's Dilemma - confusion, indecision, chaos

We have all been in situations where we were confused and didn't know what way to go. How do we know right from wrong, good from bad? Can we be compassionate by not hurting someone else but allowing them to hurt us? Is that real compassion? These are some of the questions that Arjuna is dealing with in this chapter.

Summary of Chapter 1: As the opposing armies stand poised for battle, Arjuna, the mighty warrior, sees his intimate relatives, teachers and friends in both armies ready to fight and sacrifice their lives. Overcome by grief and pity, Arjuna fails in strength, his mind becomes bewildered, and he gives up his determination to fight.

Bhagavad Gita: Intro - Hinduism, Mahabharata, Spirituality

Bhagavad Gita: Intro - Hinduism, Mahabharata, Spirituality

The intention of this program: is to bring spiritual wisdom from all over the world, from ancient and modern times, and give the viewer/listener a practical spiritual foundation through which to experience greater joy, fulfillment and love in every aspect of life.

If you have heard of the word Hinduism, know that such a thing doesn't exist except in the minds of Colonial conquerors who subjugated India for around 1000 years.

Despite their oppressive, fundamentalist and violent methods of conversion, they were unable to wipe out the ancient culture of India.

Despite looting all the riches of this incredible nation, they were unable to understand or steal its greatest treasure: the wisdom of the Vedas.
