    About this Episode

There was a conference conducted in October of this year, which offered candid and public insights from both John Piper and John MacArthur on the direction of moral decay in this country and how we need to prepare for coming persecution based on a Biblical Christian worldview. These are respected Christian preachers and theologians of our time.  They are not gaslighting politicians or media talking heads, desperate to attract and maintain their viewers by pandering. The moderator asked the following question…

As Biblical Christians, we need to recognize the signs of the times (Matt. 24:32-36). We also need to recognize that persecution is predicted, but our response is to rejoice and seek opportunities to share the gospel.

    Divisiveness Within the Broader Church

Every denomination, every church, pastor, and congregant must make a decision. Is the Bible to be trusted to be the Word of God or is it the word of man? If the former, then God’s commands should take a superior position in determining right and wrong. If the latter, man has the freedom to make that decision. Regardless, each of us will be held accountable for our choices.

The church, in an attempt to remain financially viable and relevant in a changing society, will always be tempted to acquiesce to the will of the people. Church is not a church if there is no one in the pews.

A church is a group of like-minded coming together to fellowship. The question each denomination, church, and member must make is, are we there to worship each other or to worship the Creator of the universe who left us a training manual for life, the Bible?

1 John 2:15 - Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Summary on the Issue of Who Makes the Rules

Many believe being better than the next guy will be our ticket to Heaven. Others reject the existence of God and Jesus entirely. Even more believe, incorrectly, that there are other paths besides Jesus to find joy beyond the grave (John 14:6). If one rejects the Bible, all these positions are understandable and logical. Of course, the mature Christian will counter with a litany of evidence that there is a Creator, and then add the miraculous to strengthen the argument that He remains active today. However, rarely does that move the needle once one passes the age of a child who is being indoctrinated by parents, peers, and the church. And, even with children, saying a prayer at 8 years old still calls for a demonstrated change in behavior for a lifetime (James 2:14-16). Sometimes God puts trials in life that draw even adults to the cross (as He did with me). God does use preachers, Sunday School teachers, and evangelists, to plant and water the Lord's plan of salvation (1 Cor. 3:7). But, in the end, it all comes down to faith, not facts. And, a relationship with Christ is not a passing thing, it is a lifestyle change.

Hebrews 11:1,6 - Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen... And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
