Meanwhile, on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, M.I.A. was a guest, and political news included Texas Senator Ted Cruz being confronted at a restaurant due to the Kavanaugh controversy, and Bill Cosby being sentenced to prison. • High School Yearbook Contradicts Kavanaugh's Claims of Respectful Behavior Towards WomenHigh school yearbook and testimonies contradict Kavanaugh's claims of respectful behavior towards women, raising doubts about his sincerity and credibility.

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's repeated assertions of always treating women with dignity and respect are inappropriately contradicted by evidence from his high school yearbook. Renata Dolphin, one of the women mentioned in his 1983 yearbook, has stated that his entry implied she was a sexual predator target. Kavanaugh's own words and actions during his high school years, as evidenced by his yearbook and testimonies from his classmates, suggest a pattern that contradicts his claims of respectful behavior towards women. While it's important to acknowledge that everyone, including men, can and should strive to improve their treatment of women, Kavanaugh's insinuations and actions towards Renata, as well as his involvement in a drinking culture, cast doubt on his sincerity and credibility.

    • New revelations about Kavanaugh's past statements and personal lifeThe Kavanaugh Supreme Court nomination has shifted from sexual assault allegations to discussions about his past statements on being a virgin, raising questions about the significance of personal experiences and qualifications for high-level positions, and the intersection of religious values and political affiliations.

The Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court nomination has taken an unexpected turn with new revelations about his personal life. While the initial focus was on sexual assault allegations, the conversation shifted to Kavanaugh's past statement about being a virgin, which some find disqualifying for a potential Supreme Court justice due to his lack of experience and understanding of reproductive rights. The debate raises questions about the importance of personal experiences and qualifications for high-level positions. Despite the controversy, Kavanaugh still enjoys the support of a significant portion of Republicans. The conversation also touches upon the complex relationship between religious values and political affiliations.

    • Republican Party's abandonment of moralityThe Republican Party's shift from morality to acceptance of questionable behavior has led to a disregard for principles and values in politics, allowing for unacceptable actions like paying off porn stars and separating families at the border.

The absence of moral guidance, symbolized by the abandonment of Jesus by the Republican Party, has led to a disregard for principles and values in politics. This shift in focus from morality to acceptance of questionable behavior has been evident in the defense of figures like Brett Kavanaugh and Donald Trump. The speaker expresses disappointment in how far the Republican Party has strayed from its past commitment to honor and integrity. The loss of this moral compass has allowed for the acceptance of behaviors that would have previously been unacceptable, such as paying off porn stars or separating families at the border. The speaker calls on the Republican Party to return to its moral foundation for the sake of restoring honor and integrity to the office.

The Silent University Visible Award Ceremony 2013

The Silent University Visible Award Ceremony 2013
The Silent University Visible Award Ceremony 2013 took place at the Oxford Department of International Development on 20 May 2014. Ahmet Öğüt, Silent University founder, was presented with the Visible Award, and various speakers contributed to the event. On 14 December 2013, the second edition of the Visible Award was awarded to The Silent University, a knowledge exchange platform initiated by the artist Ahmet Öğüt and led by a group of asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants. In recognition of the award, the London branch of The Silent University produced a two-day event, with the first day organised in collaboration with the Oxford Migration Studies Society and the Refugee Studies Centre. The event focused on drawing together members of The Silent University in dialogue with artists, curators, and theoreticians who are working on projects that deal with migration issues in the legal framework of Western democracies. The Visible Award, which in its mission is looking for art that 'leaves its own field and becomes visible as part of something else,' is proud to accompany The Silent University in its encounter with the academic realm outside of the space of art.
