    About this Episode

Children today are faced with so much information coming from so many different places. The world perspective understands that reaching our children with worldly ideas, in many cases, guarantees that they will have teens and adults hooked with philosophies that do not line up with Christian values and beliefs. Reaching children at a young age is key to helping kids discern and compare the current culture to what the Bible teaches and then carrying biblical thinking into their teen and adult years. It’s so important as parents, to understand that the world is changing at a rapid pace and young minds are very impressionable, so being mindful of teaching our young children early about the Christian Worldview and comparing the information they receive with the truth of Christianity is critical.  Our guest today, Elizabeth Urbanowicz, founder and CEO of Foundation Worldview, is a wealth of practical tips and tools for parents and other Christian adults as they equip children to understand and believe the truth of God.

From Longing to Confidence: Recognizing Jesus' Nearness in Our Lives w/ Cody Andras

Have you ever felt a deep-seated yearning for divine companionship, a sense that something greater is perpetually by your side? This episode, graced by the insightful Cody Andras, author of "Jesus by Her Side," invites you into a heartfelt exploration of this spiritual hunger, as we traverse the remarkable encounters of women with Jesus in the Gospels. Through my own journey of vocational twists and faith-stirred decisions, I uncover the beauty of God's personalized touch in our lives, mirroring the individual moments of faith portrayed in Scripture. Cody's transition from business to bibliology exemplifies the profound importance of laying all our paths before God, affirming His care for each unique stride we take.

Tuning in, you'll witness the poignant narrative of Mary Magdalene and her transformative encounter with the resurrected Christ—a story that encourages us to advance in faith, leaving behind the comfort of past spiritual peaks. We discuss the empowering story of Mary and Elizabeth, whose bond exemplifies the support we can find within our own communities amid life's singular trials. These stories serve as an anchor, reaffirming the unwavering truth of God's constancy, even when His presence feels distant or intangible.

Embarking on the final moments of our discussion, I invite you to explore the myriad of avenues through which we can connect with Jesus—be it through the whispers of nature, the harmony of music, or the sacred texts that chronicle humanity's intersection with God. We look at the earnestness of biblical women, like the bleeding woman's raw pursuit of healing and Mary and Martha's lessons of service and devotion, imploring you to bring the same sincerity to your own spiritual quest. Whether through Scripture reflection or prayerful solitude, Cody and I share our most cherished practices and resources, ultimately guiding you to a more profound closeness with Jesus that reaches beyond the pages of the Bible.

Is God Real? Evaluating the Evidence for Life's Biggest Question w/ Lee Strobel

Embark on an enlightening quest with Lee Strobel, renowned investigative journalist, and former skeptic turned devout Christian, as he lays out a compelling case for the existence of God and the reality of Jesus's resurrection. In an era where life's biggest questions often lead to more confusion than clarity, Lee's analytical approach cuts through the noise, presenting an investigative perspective that has deeply resonated with my faith journey. Our conversation dives into the toughest challenges faced by believers, from the mystery of God's hiddenness to the ever-present reality of human suffering, all while drawing from Lee's transformative experiences and celebrated works such as "Is God Real?" and "The Case for Christ."

The intricacies of faith and doubt are unraveled, not through blind acceptance but through rigorous research and candid dialogues with prominent atheists and skeptics. As we explore the surge in spiritual curiosity among today's youth, set against a backdrop of increasing mental health struggles, Lee Strobel's insights reveal a growing trend of conversions to Christianity. His encounters with figures like Anthony Flew and Charles Templeton serve to fortify his convictions, offering listeners a testament to the power of an unwavering belief borne from critical examination and expert testimony.

The discussion extends to the profound philosophical questions surrounding God's role in human suffering, providing solace and understanding through personal stories and theological perspectives. As we consider the delicate balance God maintains in revealing himself, we equip our listeners with the intellectual and spiritual tools needed to both defend their faith and invite others into these profound truths.

Secular Work, Sacred Impact: Revealing the Eternal Significance of Your Daily Grind w/ Jordan Raynor

Imagine finding the sacred in the routine, the holy in the hustle of daily tasks. That's the transformation Jordan Raynor, a compelling author, and dedicated father shares with us as we examine the deep connection between faith and work. His latest book, The Sacredness of Secular Work, championed by influential voices like the late Tim Keller, urges us to see our everyday labors through a divine lens, affirming their significance in the Christian narrative. Weave through Jordan's personal anecdotes of balancing the demands of fatherhood with the quest for spiritual harmony, and find yourself inspired to view your own work as an integral part of God's grand design.

Have you ever caught yourself questioning the eternal value of your secular job? We lay that doubt to rest by dismantling the misconception that the Great Commission is the only mission for believers. Jordan illuminates how every endeavor, when performed in pursuit of God's kingdom, becomes an act of sacred service. It's a refreshing perspective that elevates our understanding of vocation, celebrating the role that every job, from the boardroom to the stockroom, plays in shaping our eternal story.

Tune in as Jordan and I converse about the importance of our secular work. This episode isn't just a discussion—it's an invitation to redefine your work as a worshipful response to God's call.

Healing Through Faith: A Christian Parent's Story of Loss and Resilience w/ Justin & Stefanie Boyce

Healing Through Faith: A Christian Parent's Story of Loss and Resilience w/ Justin & Stefanie Boyce

When Justin and Stefanie Boyce faced the unfathomable loss of their children, Jayden and Brooklyn, to a rare genetic disorder, the fabric of their lives was irrevocably torn. Yet, out of the depths of their sorrow, they emerged with a story that is as inspiring as it is heart-wrenching. This episode is a tribute to the strength it takes to not only carry on but to transform grief into a force for healing, as the Boyces have done through their work at the Oak Center Retreat in Southern California.

As we sit down with Justin and Stefanie, they open up about the overwhelming support they received from their community during the darkest times. Their narrative extends a delicate invitation to contemplate the unexpected kindness of friends, family, and even strangers, and how these acts of compassion can illuminate the path through adversity. Their experience with community kindness underscores a central truth: no one should have to navigate the treacherous waters of grief alone, and it is the connections we forge that often buoy us through the storm.

The conversation naturally flows into the heart of resilience, exploring how shared suffering can lead to profound bonds and a shared sense of purpose. Justin and Stefanie's candid reflections on their growth in the aftermath of tragedy, coupled with their commitment to helping others find solace, serve as a beacon for anyone grappling with their own losses. Their story, punctuated by their move to California and the founding of The Oaks Retreats, serves as an intimate guide through the complexities of mourning, faith, and ultimately, finding a way forward in a world that has been forever changed.

Integrating Career and Faith: Finding God in the Rhythms of Work w/ Chelsea Patterson Sobolik

Integrating Career and Faith: Finding God in the Rhythms of Work w/ Chelsea Patterson Sobolik

Have you ever paused to consider how your career and faith intertwine? In our latest episode, we sit down with Chelsea Patterson Sobolik, a distinguished author and policy expert, who shares her inspiring journey from international ambitions to significant policy work in the heart of Washington DC, all through the lens of a biblical worldview. Chelsea's candid discussion about her adoption story and her advocacy for refugees and immigration broadens our perspective on the unique challenges and victories women face in balancing their profession and personal lives.

This conversation takes a deeper look at the sacred act of labor, transforming our understanding of work into an expression of divine worship. Reflecting on Martin Luther's teachings, we realize that even the most mundane tasks carry a profound purpose - serving others and acting as vessels for God's love. The reassurance from Scripture that our labor, whether praised or unsung, is seen and valued by God, offers comfort and compels us to seek His presence in our daily grind. It's a heartfelt reminder that our work can be a beautiful expression of our faith.

To wrap things up, we contemplate the forgotten art of Sabbath rest and the essential nature of finding balance. The episode draws attention to the modern obsession with being perpetually busy and how resting is not only rejuvenating but also a humbling acknowledgment of our human limits and God’s overarching control. I also share some of my treasured Bible study practices, hoping to encourage you to weave spiritual growth into the fabric of your day-to-day life. For those seeking a deeper exploration of these themes, Chelsea Patterson's book, "Called to Cultivate," comes highly recommended as a guide to discovering the joy and fulfillment found in the intersection of work and faith.
