BYU Football's Big 12 Hopes May Reside With Resurgent Rushing Attack

The BYU Cougars open play in the Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament Wednesday morning in the T-Mobile center in Kansas City against the UCF Knights and while Jake Hatch agrees it's difficult to beat a team three times in a season, he says the BYU men's basketball program should be brimming with confidence as they seek a higher seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Jake then took time to examine the report(s) that BYU quarterback Nick Billoups has entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal as a graduate transfer and will leave the BYU football program in search of a new opportunity elsewhere and Jake says that it won't be the last departure or position change in Aaron Roderick's meeting room this spring.

The BYU Cougars are the fifth-seed at the Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament this week and Jake Hatch says we should not discount the accomplishments Mark Pope and the BYU men's basketball program made this season considering the level(s) they stepped up in with Brigham Young University's entrance into the Big 12 Conference.

The BYU Cougars saw an great opportunity to spoil senior night and a perfect home record for the Iowa State Cyclones in the Hilton Coliseum go by the wayside after a collective choke job in the final four minutes of their Big 12 conference basketball clash and Jake Hatch is concerned that the BYU men's basketball team may not have the composure they need.

Jake then explained what the mindset for the BYU basketball program may be next week in the Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City after their bid for a double-bye was ended thanks to the Iowa State loss and he thinks a quick exit may be the play for Brigham Young University (BYU) ahead of the NCAA Tournament the following week.

The BYU Cougars saw themsevles fall into a 17-point hole against the TCU Horned Frogs Saturday night inside the Marriott Center on the campus of Brigham Young University (BYU), but a 58-point blitz in the second half saw the BYU men's basketball program rally to win their ninth Big 12 Conference game of the season.

Jake Hatch shared his takeaways from the 87-75 victory for Mark Pope and the BYU basketball program and highlighted Foussenyi Traore, Richie Saunders and Trevin Knell's contributions as his three stars of the game as BYU now stares down a big game in Ames, Iowa against the eighth-ranked Iowa State Cyclones on Wednesday night.

The BYU Cougars are being represented at the annual NFL Combine by three athletes in Kingsley Suamataia, Kedon Slovis and Ryan Rehkow and Pro Football Focus expert Max Chadwick believes Suamataia's athleticism and physical gifts will allow him to make a strong impression inside Lucas Oil Stadium this week and help him bolster his NFL Draft stock.

Max and Jake Hatch then discussed what the NFL prospects are for former BYU football standouts Kedon Slovis, Isaac Rex and Max Tooley as Max explains what their strengths are when it comes to the NFL and why he believes all three will be deserving of an undrafted free agent look at minimum come draft time in April.

Finally, the show wrapped up with Max and Jake discussing Brigham Young University's future in the Big 12 Conference, what level BYU recruiting will need to reach to have success at the Power 4 level and what to make of the current discussion going on about expansion of the College Football Playoff to as many as 14 teams by 2026 and if it is the right move for the CFP and sport.
