Caffeine Cast: A Deep Dive Into Mastermind Groups; Inspiration, Power & Leverage [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

    en-GBFebruary 16, 2018

    Podcast Summary

    • Mastermind groups: Collaborative communities for entrepreneursMastermind groups offer entrepreneurs a platform to brainstorm, strategize, and solve business problems with peers, either in smaller, intimate boardroom settings or larger, diverse round table formats.

Mastermind groups are an effective strategy for entrepreneurs looking to grow and succeed. Popularized by Napoleon Hill in his book "Think and Grow Rich," mastermind groups are collective communities of peers where individuals can brainstorm, strategize, and solve business problems. There are two main types of mastermind groups: boardroom and round table. Boardroom groups are smaller, more intimate gatherings, usually with around 10 members, where deep dives into each other's businesses can occur, and trust is easily built. Round table groups are larger, with up to 60 members, and offer a wider range of perspectives and resources. Both formats provide valuable opportunities for entrepreneurs to learn, grow, and overcome challenges in a supportive and collaborative environment.

    • The format and size of a mastermind group impact its valueChoose a mastermind group size and format that suits your learning style and budget for optimal value and growth.

The format and size of a mastermind group can greatly impact the experience and value gained. Some people prefer smaller, more intimate boardroom-style masterminds where everyone gets a deeper dive into each other's businesses, while others prefer larger groups with more affordable fees and a question-and-answer format. The key benefit of a mastermind is the ability to submit and learn from each other's most challenging business questions, making it a valuable resource beyond what can be gained from mentoring alone. However, the size and format of the group can affect the quality of the participants and the depth of the discussions. Ultimately, it's essential to consider which format aligns best with your learning style and budget.

    • Learn from peers in mastermind groupsMastermind groups provide opportunities to gain insights, ask questions, and solve problems through collective knowledge and experiences.

Mastermind groups, whether large or small, offer valuable insights and solutions to future business challenges. During these sessions, participants can learn from each other's experiences, ask questions they hadn't considered, and even solve problems before they become an issue. While larger groups offer more questions and potential solutions, smaller groups allow for deeper dives and more personalized guidance. The cost of these groups varies, with larger groups charging as little as £100 a month and smaller, more exclusive groups costing tens of thousands of pounds. Ultimately, the choice between a large or small mastermind group depends on your specific needs and budget.

    • Selecting members for mastermind groupsCarefully filtering applicants through an app process, background checks, and peer voting ensures a productive and positive mastermind group environment, fostering collaborative learning and expertise sharing.

Carefully selecting members for a mastermind group is crucial to ensure the group's success and maintain a positive and productive environment. The use of an application process, background checks, and peer voting can help in filtering out potential wrong fits and maintaining a balanced group of individuals with similar levels of success and experience. This approach not only ensures the group's effectiveness but also fosters a collaborative learning environment where everyone can benefit from each other's expertise and experiences. Additionally, the application process can be customized to fit individual needs, and the use of a CV review and peer voting can provide valuable insights and help build trust within the group.

    • Mentoring group with voting systemEnsuring qualified members, distributing accountability, and offering long-term benefits through flexible duration and renewals in mentoring programs.

Running a mentoring group with a voting system ensures the admission of well-qualified individuals and distributes accountability among members. The group's decision-making process eliminates the accusation of letting in unqualified individuals for financial gain. A 6-month minimum, 1-year maximum duration for mentoring programs provides ample time for results and relationship-building. After the initial term, offering a lifetime renewal with a competitive price can lead to long-term benefits such as joint ventures, trainings, and events participation. Online mentoring programs can be scaled and reach a larger audience but may lack the accountability and deeper rapport of in-person sessions. Ultimately, the choice between online and in-person mentoring depends on the specific goals and constraints of the mentor and the mentees.

    • The Power of Masterminds: Learning and Growing TogetherJoining a mastermind can lead to significant personal and professional growth by providing access to collective knowledge and experience. Ensure the group is intimate and consists of peers for optimal benefits.

Masterminds are powerful groups that help individuals grow and succeed, especially in business or personal development. The speaker emphasizes the importance of being part of a mastermind, as it allows members to learn from each other and benefit from the collective knowledge and experience of the group. However, the speaker also notes that masterminds are most effective when they are intimate and consist of peers at similar levels. Therefore, if you're considering starting or joining a mastermind, it's important to ensure that the group is the right size and composition for you. The speaker suggests qualifying potential members based on their experience and income level, and even requiring proof of financial sophistication for millionaire-only masterminds. Ultimately, the goal is to create a supportive and collaborative environment where everyone can learn and grow together.

    • Investing in a Mastermind GroupPaying a fee for a mastermind group increases accountability, commitment, and high-quality members, leading to valuable solutions, vicarious experiences, accountability, joint ventures, and productivity growth.

Running a successful mastermind group requires a fee to ensure accountability, commitment, and high-quality members. The fees directly correlate with the value and results members receive. While it may be tempting to start a free group, the lack of financial investment often leads to low attendance and lackluster results. Michael Gerber's advice, "work on your business, not in it," applies here. By investing time and money into a mastermind group, members can gain new solutions to problems, vicarious experiences, accountability, joint ventures, and the opportunity to work with and solve other people's problems, ultimately increasing self-worth and productivity. The fees cover the costs and justify the value of the group, making it a worthwhile investment for all involved.

    • Join a mastermind group for business growthMastermind groups provide a platform for individuals to share ideas, learn from peers, and gain new perspectives, leading to rapid problem-solving and innovation.

Mastermind groups can significantly boost business growth by providing a platform for individuals to share ideas, learn from peers, and gain new perspectives. The most effective masterminds consist of individuals at different levels, allowing for mutual growth and learning. Participants should bring their biggest challenges and questions to the group, leading to rapid problem-solving and innovation. Mastermind groups can be particularly valuable for those who struggle to generate new ideas or need guidance from more experienced individuals. The Inner Circle Mastermind Elite, for instance, is designed for business owners making around £100,000 to £5,000,000 per year and offers a unique opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive and dynamic environment. Remember, you can apply for the Inner Circle Mastermind Elite by visiting bit.ly/forward/icme2018. By participating in a mastermind group, you can accelerate your business growth, learn from others, and increase your self-worth.

    • Joining MoveOn: More Than Just a MembershipJoining MoveOn provides access to a community led by entrepreneur Grant Cardone, offering personal mastermind and mentorship opportunities, but requires application and group vote.

Joining MoveOn, a community led by entrepreneur and business coach, Grant Cardone, offers more than just membership. It's an opportunity for personal mastermind and mentorship, with access to the coach's resources and contacts. However, membership isn't guaranteed and requires application, a completed form, and a group vote. Cardone emphasizes the importance of taking risks and encourages potential members to apply if they're serious about growth. Rob and Mark also discuss why they feel the UK has gone soft, the impact big money and financing has made to football and more incredible stories from his career as a footballer and presenter.

    Mark Lawrenson Reveals:

    • Why the BBC Sacked him
    • The differences between male and female football
    • Why TV and the country has gone ‘too soft’
    • What it was like to play for Liverpool
    • Why being told he couldn’t play football drove him to his ultimate success
    • The negative impact of big money and finance on football
    • A shocking story surrounding Maxwell's alleged murder by Mossad

    BEST MOMENTS

“Really good [football] commentary makes a huge difference”

    “The country is knackered”

"Bob Paisley comes down from upstairs, takes him a couple of minutes and everything. Walks in. Complete hush, respect... Where's Alan Kennedy? And one of the lads had gone, 'Oh, he's over here.' So, Bob strolled over and looked at him, and he said, 'Do you know what, Alan? They shot the wrong fucking Kennedy.'"

"I'd get slaughtered sometimes, fair enough, doesn't particularly bother me. And then I'd meet somebody and then they say to me, 'Oh you're completely different from what you, when you're commentating,' and I go, 'No I'm not. I'm just the same.'"

"One of the problems with the BBC was that they don't really understand things like you've been a footballer and sometimes you get left out. And you get taken off the pitch. And it's as though they can't tell you the bad news."

"My biggest disruption was my mum leaving us... We never knew. My mum always said to us, 'You, I'll never tell you what happened, but you would have done the same thing.'"

"Robert Maxwell owns Derby, Kevin Maxwell owns Oxford... He looked at me and he said, 'What's your problem?' I imagine that, and it just all came out, and I called him every name under the sun. And he looked at me, and he went, 'I quite like you actually.'”

#BeTheExample: What I've Learned From Joining A Mastermind

#BeTheExample: What I've Learned From Joining A Mastermind

Doug takes us through his introduction to the world of "masterminds". He started from not really liking the idea to now preaching the good news that is RBO and APEX!

So, the question is, "What is a mastermind and should I join one?"

To start, a mastermind is a group of individuals who come together to grow themselves and grow their businesses. Next should you join? Absolutely, unless you're okay with being where you're at.

Doug breaks it all down in a candid episode you don't want to miss.

A mastermind is a group of individuals who come together to share ideas, offer support, and hold each other accountable in order to achieve common goals. The concept was popularized by Napoleon Hill in his book "Think and Grow Rich."

Masterminds typically consist of a small, diverse group of like-minded individuals who meet regularly to discuss their businesses, personal development, and other relevant topics. The group members are expected to be active participants, offering insights and feedback to others, as well as taking constructive criticism and advice.

Joining a mastermind can be a great way to gain new perspectives, learn from others, and hold yourself accountable to achieving your goals. However, it's important to find a group that aligns with your values and interests, and that you feel comfortable sharing personal and professional information with.

In conclusion, if you are looking to grow yourself or your business and are open to receiving feedback and advice from others, joining a mastermind group can be a great idea. It's important to find the right group that aligns with your values and interests.

Episode 4: “To Thine Own Self Be True”- Dr. Christine Handy

Episode 4: “To Thine Own Self Be True”- Dr. Christine Handy

This week's Leadership Tidbits with Coach Tee Wilson features Dr. Christine Handy. During this show Dr. Handy shares with us the importance of preparation as a leader, and how she prepares for what’s next.

Here are some important facts to know about her. Dr. Christine Handy has held a mentoring role for more than 30 years as a teacher, track coach, and high school principal while also being an entrepreneur and author. Dr. Handy's life mission is to enhance the lives of others via education, counseling, and coaching. She loves the Lord and is an active member of the Church of the Redeemer in Clarksburg, Maryland where she serves as an usher.

Dr. Christine started in the field of education as a special education teacher and has served as a high school principal for the past 19 years. She has been recognized as the 2006 state of Maryland's secondary schools principal of the year and was the 2014 recipient of the prestigious Dr. Edward Shirley award for excellence in school leadership as a respected leader in education. She is currently the president of the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

Dr. Handy is an international speaker and trainer. She has trained school leaders in Beijing, China and across the USA. She is a trainer, coach, and speaker with the John Maxwell team, specializing in presentations on leadership matters and leading teams through the leadership game.

Dr. Handy is also a proud entrepreneur and author. For the past six years she has been involved with Send Out Cards, a technology-based company that uses a mobile platform to help individuals to create financial freedom. She loves helping others to become wealth warriors. Dr. Handy supports businesses with relationship marketing, helping them to increase repeat and referral business by sending greeting cards and gifts in the mail creating mailbox happiness. For Dr. Christine, this is a “Gratitude Ministry.” Dr. Christine was selected to serve on the Eagles Nest among the top earners with the company and her current rank is Senior Manager. She is also a leader with Melaleuca, an online wellness shopping club. Once again, on a mission to help others to become wealth warriors by simply switching stores and sharing.

Additionally, Dr. Christine Handy is an Amazon Best Selling Author of the book, Dear Fear Volume II. Co-Authoring with 17 others, she shares her life experience from her early college days and titled it, “Dear Fear, You Can’t Have My Slingshot!”

As we dove into the interview, Dr. Handy was more than eager to share with us her passion for teaching and helping others reach their full potential. She shared with us that one of the keys to being a successful leader and coach is that you have to be a visionary. You have to be able to try and envision what’s next and prepare your students for that. Some advice Dr. Handy gave for those struggling to balance career and maintain home life harmony is to schedule everything into your calendar. This includes your personal time. Dr. Handy recommends that you schedule off personal time just as you do your professional business endeavors. She mentioned that if she could talk to her younger self, she’d make sure that  once she started coaching track, she wouldn’t have stopped running track. Reminding us once again that it’s all about finding that balance in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle in both work and with yourself.

Some of the leadership tidbit takeaways Dr. Handy wanted to leave you with; “Whatever you do, you have to make a commitment. You have to have that commitment mindset. Think big, take bold action, and make an impact in whatever you do. Always remember that in order to get what you want out of life you have to help others to get what they want.”
