    About this Episode

CastIron is back for Episode 3! In this episode we welcome a fourth co-host, Nicola to the podcast to discuss all things Iron. We look back over the two fixtures played since episode 2 (Bournemouth in League 1 and AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup) and look forward to the three matches coming in the next two weeks; Hartlepool and Notts County in the league and the FA Cup replay against AFC Wimbledon - including giving our predictions on the results for each. Some interesting opinions are raised about the fairly recent change by the Football League limiting sides to naming 5 substitutes instead of the previous 7 - in particular whether this prevents youth players at Scunthorpe getting their chance. We also discuss the recent annual report and chairman's statement, in particular the club making a £1.4million profit and whether this could have been spent to fight relegation from the Championship last season. Finally, we discuss comments earlier this week from on-loan forward Nicky Ajose regarding fans being quick to be negative.

The team then discuss the previous two results since episode 7 against Stevenage and Sheffield Wednesday, look ahead to the game this weekend at home to Walsall and review all of the ins-and-outs at the club as the January transfer window came to a close. We then wrap up the show by answering some superb questions from our listeners (thank you to Jaimie Morgan and Jim Coulson). If you have any questions or topics you would like us to discuss, let us know via email (castironpodcast@gmail.com) or post a message on our forums here or on the podcast site.

    CastIron - Episode 7

    CastIron - Episode 7
The CastIron podcast team return for episode 7, in which we discuss the recent result away at Colchester and look ahead to the two home games coming up in the next two weeks against Stevenage and Sheffield Wednesday. As the January window rumbles on, we discuss the various comings-and-goings in the squad in the past two weeks, as well as the recent injury to newly signed Iron striker Connor Jennings. Following on from this, we then answer a great question from listener Jaimie Morgan who asks what we believe is still needed before the window shuts at the end of the month. Finally, we close out the show looking at the results of the recent poll over at www.theironsupplement.co.uk - where we asked members which position the squad needed to strengthen most in the transfer window, and the team give their opinions on the new site poll; are the club right to be as cautious as we are financially given that so few other clubs live within their means and stay debt-free? Don't forget, as ever if there’s anything you didn’t like about the show or think we could do better, or if you have any questions or topics you’d like us to discuss - email them to us at castironpodcast@gmail.com

    CastIron - Episode 6

    CastIron - Episode 6
Craig, Carl, Nicola and Aidan are back after the festive holiday to kick off 2012 with CastIron episode 6, in which we look back over the four results since episode 5 and look ahead to the Iron's away game against Colchester. We also talk about changes to the Scunthorpe squad now that the January transfer window is open, including details of deals already done and discussion about possible other moves. We then answer a couple of great questions from Jim Coulson (thanks again Jim!); which Iron centre back from our past would we bring back in their prime if possible to solidify our defence, and what is the best motivational advice we have ever been given which could be given to the team at half-time in matches to try to prevent the recent trend of poor performances in the second half of games (which evolves somehow into more general discussion about improving confidence and getting the fans at Glanford Park more vocal). Don't forget - if you have any questions, topics for discussion or suggestions for the podcast, please let us know at castironpodcast@gmail.com

    CastIron - Episode 5

    CastIron - Episode 5
We're back (minus Carl) for episode 5 of the CastIron podcast. In this episode we discuss the recent loss at home against Carlisle and the effect that result and recent form has had on our league position. We also look ahead to matches coming in the next two weeks against Exeter City and Bury, as well as the fixtures coming up for the Iron in the next couple of months as we move into 2012. We discuss the recent extension to loan of goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and the comments from fellow loanee Oliver Norwood about being interested in a loan to a Championship club in January when his deal is currently due to end with us. The club have also released feedback to their recent fan survey about match ticketing, so we discuss some of the key points and feedback raised. Don't forget if there are any topics you would like us to discuss or questions for us to answer, you can email them to us at castironpodcast@gmail.com Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all our listeners, fellow Scunthorpe fans and all the players and staff at Scunthorpe United a very Merry Christmas and a happy (and hopefully win-filled!) 2012.

We also discuss the official site's recent news article inviting fans to vote on possible designs for next season's away strip and what our thoughts are on the different kit designs shown, answer two great questions from listener Jim Coulson and review the results of our own recent poll at www.theironsupplement.co.uk asking members who would be the Iron's top scorer at the end of this season. CastIron - Episode 2
We're back for Episode 2 of the CastIron podcast! In this episode we talk about the Scunthorpe United squad's charity efforts as part of "Movember" (donate at http://mobro.co/sufc), give a special mention to Iron legend Billy Sharp after the tragic events of last weekend and his heroic and moving performance and goal on Tuesday. We look back over Scunthorpe's 3 matches played since episode 1 and give our thoughts on the results, the performances and how right (or not!) we were with our predictions two weeks ago. We then look ahead to the fixtures coming up in the next two weeks, discuss what we expect and give our score predictions... will we be right? Will you agree? In our Q&A section we discuss whether the Iron should extend GK Sam Johnstone's loan and answer a couple of (fantastic) questions sent in by a listener. If you have any questions you'd like us to answer, email them to castironpodcast@gmail.com - make sure to include your name and where you're from so we can give you a mention! Finally, we look at the results of the previous poll on theironsupplement.co.uk where our members voted where Scunthorpe United will finish the 2011/2012 season, and kicked off our new site poll for members to vote on.
