The Masters tournament saw an exciting start with Brooks Koepka leading after the first day, despite facing criticism and past injuries. However, the conversation took an unexpected turn as two alleged cheating incidents made headlines. Brooks' caddy was caught mouthing the word "5" during a round, which, though seemingly innocuous, is against the rules. Meanwhile, Morikawa was accused of moving his ball, but upon review, it was determined that he had only replaced it to its original position. These incidents highlight the strict rules and the importance of adhering to them in professional golf. Despite these distractions, Brooks remains focused on making history as the first golfer to win in both the LIV and PGA tours in the same year. The obsession with calling out perceived rule violations in golf, particularly on social media, can lead to irresponsible and clout-chasing behavior. The speakers in this discussion express their admiration for those who quietly report rule infractions through the proper channels, but caution against the negative consequences of publicly accusing golfers of cheating without solid evidence. They also acknowledge the dedication and skill of some golfers, like Patrick Reed, in potentially bending the rules, but draw the line at calling out Tiger Woods for his physical condition or his nipples showing during play. Ultimately, they emphasize the importance of respecting the game and its traditions, and avoiding the temptation to seek attention or validation through social media accusations. • Golf and Broadcasting: A Complex IntersectionDistractions from sports broadcasting, such as interviews and sponsorships, can impact golfers' performance and focus on the course. Clear identification and communication are crucial to avoid confusion.

Golf and sports broadcasting can sometimes clash, leading to distractions and potential miscommunications for players. Max Homa experienced this firsthand during the Masters when ESPN conducted a walk-and-talk interview with him while he was on the course, causing him to misread a putt. The use of cell phones and lack of clear identification for players also added to the confusion. Another observation was the potential for sponsorships in golf, with Cam Young being mistaken for Max Homa and Sam Bennett, the low amateur, being suggested to be sponsored by Pornhub. The golf course itself was also noted as a "big loser" due to challenging pin placements. Despite these distractions, notable performances by players like Victor Hovland and Sam Bennett stood out. Sam Gardel

    Sam Gardel

Sam Gardel is an Electrician from Brisbane and one-time back-rower for the Italian Azzurri during the 2013 Rugby league world cup. Gardy’s story is a compelling one and one that many young trade business owners would be able to relate to. As a young electrician, Sam had the opportunity to have a crack at a football career, however not believing that his heart was fully in it, made the choice to focus on growing his prospering electrical business. However, after investing heavily into his team and business, everything was pulled out from under him leaving him in financial distress.

In the podcast, Sam opens up to us about what happened at the time that his first business came crashing down, and the road he took in rebuilding what he had started. We chat about the hard work and sacrifices made to get back up on his feet, and the challenges that he faced during that process including turning to unhealthy coping mechanisms to blow of steam, justified by the long hours he was working. Within this story is also the individual Journey that Sam has been on, putting in the work to take better care of his mind and body which has not only had a positive impact on his business, but as the leader in his own business, has flowed on through his team as well.

This is an awesome yarn about the power of leading by example, with a couple of stories about school boy sport and how he ended up running on for Italy.
