    About this Episode

In this episode of The Creative Life Podcast I talk with Italian author, actor, journalist and singer Isabelle Adriani about creative storytelling, fairy tales and open quantum relativity!

After gaining a PHD in History from the University of Perugia with a thesis entitled “The DNA of Fairy Tale” she has gone on to star in more than 30 movies and published eight books on fairy tales as well as two historical novels. As an actor she has starred alongside George Clooney in The American, John Cusack in Reclaim, and with Penelope Cruz in the film Twice Born. You can also hear her voice in the Italian versions of hit animations Alvin & The Chipmunks and Ice Age. Isabelle's latest book, that has just been translated into English, is called ‘Castaways in Time’, a story about three English orphans who are shipwrecked on the mysterious Island of Time and she also has a new album coming out called To Movies with Love.

My guest today says that in order to understand ourselves and the world we need science and intuition, reason and imagination. Dr. Iain McGilchrist is a psychiatrist, neuroscience researcher, philosopher, and literary scholar. He is a Quondam Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, an Associate Fellow of Green Templeton College, Oxford, a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and a former Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Director at the Bethlem Royal & Maudsley Hospital, London. He is the author of a number of books but is best known for The Master and his Emissary: The Divided Brain and the Making of the Western World. In his latest book The Matter With Things he argues that we have become enslaved to an account of things dominated by the brain’s left hemisphere, one that blinds us to an awe-inspiring reality that is all around us.
