After a little break Greats with Garby is back and with a bang for 2021 for one of our biggest chats yet. As an obsessive Entourage fan I was delighted to land an interview with the show's creator Doug Ellin who breaks down so many fascinating back stories and insights on one of the biggest entertainment hits of the past 20 years and it's much loved characters Ari Gold, Drama, Turtle and the rest. He’s one of the most promising coaches in the AFL, coming off a hugely impressive first season in the job and at just 39 is one of the youngest in the most difficult of capers. A former number two draft pick with the Fremantle Dockers, he now coaches the club that he loves. It’s the stuff of dreams and while the second phase is still in a very early stage, Justin Longmuir is making it a reality. It was great to break all of that down and discuss his journey on Greats with Garby.

He’s a former number one draft pick who would go on to play 231 games for the mighty Carlton Football Club and win a best and fairest as well before finishing his career in his home town of Adelaide at the Crows. There were periods of deep frustration mixed with plenty of highs that will all be touched on with an intriguing character and a player that a lot of fans couldn’t always get a read on. He was cut from his high school team in Atlanta, Georgia and went on to be inducted into the Australian Basketball Hall of Fame. The story of how he got there is a brilliant one. He had two stints in the NBA before the NBL came calling. He played with Barkley and against Jordan. He would win two championships with the Melbourne Tigers – a Grand Final MVP award in 1997 and develop one of the great Australian basketball partnerships with Andrew Gaze en route to having his famous number 21 singlet retired by the club. He is Lanard Copeland and this is his story.

Thanks for joining for another big episode of Greats with Garby and a chat with a man who has just landed the top job as coach of the Perth Glory in the A-League - his hometown club. A teen phenomenon he was signed by West Ham at just 15 years of age, went on to star in their FA Youth Cup winning team in 1999 alongside the likes of Joe Cole and his best mate Michael Carrick. He made his Premier League debut for the Hammers and also played in the world’s biggest league for Hull City and has been capped 17 times for the Socceroos including as a starter in that infamous opening clash of the 2010 World Cup against Germany.

I’ve been desperate to get a cricketer on since we launched and I'm delighted that this man is our debut interview from the great game. He played 20 Test matches for Australia most of them wins including a hat-trick on debut. He was part of Australia 1999 World Cup triumph where he famously bowled the final over of that epic semi-final and rolled the ball to Adam Gilchrist for that memorable victory. He has since turned to a life in the media where he has become one of the most insightful and entertaining commentators in the

He is one of the finest golfers Australia has ever produced and one of the most likeable as well. He amassed 23 tour victories around the globe including two on the PGA Tour, three Australian Masters and an Australian Open. He led a US Masters heading into the final round and finished top 5 in two other majors, and of course was an integral part of the Internationals Team only Presidents Cup victory to date in 1998.
