Arkansas just conducted their mid-winter survey and have determined they are more than half-a-million short of their fifteen year average and the lowest total number of mallards since 2013 for this time of year. @thefowlhunter sits down this week with Mike Brasher, Senior Waterfowl Biologist for Ducks Unlimited. We discuss mallard ducks and what's been the hold up with the migration and give an outlook for the remainder of the season here in the south. Lake Ashbaugh is one of many lakes on Arkansas state land, managed by AGFC that provides fishing and serves as a waterfowl refuge during duck season. The lake has had some issues that raised some concerns with avid outdoorsmen so I sat down this week with AGFC Director Austin Booth and Arkansas State Representative Jeremy Wooldridge to discuss. We talk about the current situation of the lake, future plans as well as some ongoing projects including restoration of GTRs and youth shooting.
