E55: The first online poker map hack

In this clip, I unpack parts therapy and how you can use it as a poker player. Parts therapy is otherwise known as Internal Family systems or IFS. It is an increasingly popular therapy model that seems to work for many poker players, specifically guys who have a hard time contacting emotion. In the parts therapy model, the mind is divided up into certain subpersonalities or parts, each part with its own unique viewpoint and qualities. I think it's getting these parts out in front of you in a way that's externalized, giving each one a narrative, and learning how to work with the desires and intentions and viewpoints of each part. That seems to be what really moves the needle for people who have not had awareness over some of these subconscious narratives up until now. I give you these frameworks in this clip. This clip gives an overview of the Netflix style hub that we integrated into our Alumni server. That is the Discord server where all of our 30-day training camp members go after their camp is complete. We have a variety of different channels there where we host different types of content, from strategy to mindset to meditation to fitness. There's even one player from our private side who created a specific channel to help put poker players who are semi pros, meaning they have another job currently, figure out how to transition to poker full-time by using the frameworks he created to do it himself. Anyway, at the beginning of this clip, you're going to hear me outline one of the other unique strategy channels that we added. And then I'll get into more nuanced sub-profiling stuff that comes up naturally as the discussion unfolds. Enjoy.

I took this clip from a live webinar where a player came on and was expressing his concerns around a recent downswing. He was backed by another player in the industry. And what I started to get the sense of as we were talking was that his real fear was that he didn't know how much longer he could keep losing or breaking even and still have the trust of his backer. So I took a pretty spontaneous turn in this conversation, and I've never actually spoken about the topic in this way. But in this clip, I give you the framework for the conversation that you have to have with your backer in order to make sure that there is mutual trust. I think this is the most important conversation that a player can initiate with a backer. Speaking from someone who has staked hundreds of players in the industries over the last 5 to 10 years, this is the thing that if a player were to come to me and say this, it would deepen my trust exponentially. So I wanted to give this to you guys so that you have this framework. You can't really fake it because the type of awareness it takes to communicate this type of thing cannot be faked. So I hope this one lands with you and I hope you initiate a difficult conversation with your backer on account of it.
