    • Emphasizing the importance of basics in baked goodsA well-executed glazed donut or simple cookie reveals a bakery's ability to excel in other areas, with authenticity, quality, and simplicity being key values.

When it comes to evaluating the quality of baked goods, such as donuts or cookies, the basics matter most. The speaker in this conversation emphasizes the importance of getting the fundamental elements right, like a well-executed glazed donut or a simple, delicious cookie. He also expresses a preference for traditional, uncomplicated baked goods and a disdain for excessive toppings or gimmicks. The speaker's experience has taught him that if a shop can make a good glazed donut or a delicious cookie, they are likely to excel in other areas as well. He also appreciates the significance of good coffee to accompany his baked goods. Overall, the speaker values authenticity, quality, and simplicity in his baked treats.

    • Appreciating the original form of donuts and croissantsDon't cover up a subpar original with toppings or fillings, instead appreciate it in its pure form.

Both donuts and croissants should be appreciated in their original form before trying more elaborate variations. The speaker expressed his strong opinion that adding toppings or fillings to a subpar original is not a solution to make it delicious. He also shared his love for the weekly box of "magically delicious" donuts from Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia. Additionally, the team discussed an impressive piece of fan art created by Samantha Woje Art, which depicted the team using a football as art. The team was amazed by the artist's creativity and skill in bringing the idea to life. Lastly, Travis shared his involvement in the NFL draft in Kansas City and encouraged pros to check out Lowe's for tools and supplies to build the draft stage. The team joked about Travis's inability to build a sauna and encouraged listeners to use the Lowe's app for DIY projects.

This offer is a great opportunity for those looking to improve their health and nutrition, especially for those trying to get back into shape. Furthermore, the discussion touched upon the NFL draft, with the consensus being that first-round picks generally have longer careers in the league due to the investment teams make in these players. However, it's important to note that there are more players in the later rounds, so the numbers game comes into play. Overall, the conversation highlighted the importance of investing in one's health and well-being, whether it be through proper nutrition or making the most of opportunities like the NFL draft.

    • Debate over NFL Draft Process: Rookie Wage Scale and Relegation SystemThe NFL draft process is under debate, with concerns over rookie wage scale and potential implementation of a relegation system

While being drafted into the NFL is a significant investment from a team, not all draft picks make it to a second contract. The majority of late-round picks do not make it past their first or second year on the roster. Fullbacks, as unique positions with only one spot available, often face more competition for a roster spot. The league's rookie wage scale, which was changed around 4 years ago, has been a topic of debate, with some veterans feeling that rookies were earning more money without having proven themselves. If given the opportunity to change the draft process, some would suggest implementing a relegation system, where teams are promoted or demoted based on performance, potentially involving secondary leagues like the XFL.

    • Importance of adaptability and determination in football and lifeBrock Purdy's journey from 'mister irrelevant' to NFL success highlights the importance of staying focused on opportunities and adapting to new challenges. The Marines' resilience and adaptability serve as a constant force for protection and defense. A tournament system in smaller football leagues could promote adaptability and prevent teams from tanking.

Adaptability and determination are crucial in achieving success, whether it's in football or other areas of life. Brock Purdy, a 61st pick in the NFL draft, shared his story of being "mister irrelevant" before becoming a valuable asset to the San Francisco 49ers. He emphasized the importance of staying focused on the opportunity at hand, rather than dwelling on external factors like draft position. The Marines were also highlighted for their adaptability and resilience, serving as a constant force in protecting and defending the nation. The discussion also touched on the potential benefits of a tournament system for smaller football leagues, which could help prevent teams from tanking and protect the draft. Overall, the importance of staying adaptable, determined, and focused was a recurring theme throughout the conversation.

    • Athlete's Gratitude and Humility During NFL DraftDespite being drafted late, athletes should remain focused on their goals and maintain a positive attitude, using adversity as motivation.

The draft experience can be filled with anticipation, uncertainty, and humility for the athletes involved. The speaker, a quarterback, shares his personal experience of being drafted by the San Francisco 49ers on the third day despite having no official visits to other organizations. He expresses gratitude for the opportunity and views it as a dream come true. The speaker also discusses his mature and humble demeanor, which he attributes to his upbringing and faith. He doesn't let trash talk from opponents affect him negatively but instead uses it as motivation to perform better. Overall, the speaker's perspective highlights the importance of staying focused on the goal and maintaining a positive attitude, even in the face of adversity.

    • Staying focused and performing under pressureAdapting to new challenges and situations is crucial for success in football and life. Use taunts as motivation and rely on preparation and team support to overcome unexpected roles or offensive systems.

Adapting to new challenges and situations is an essential part of success in football, as well as in life. Whether it's dealing with trash talk from opponents or stepping into a new role on a team, the ability to stay focused and perform under pressure is crucial. For example, Brandon Allen shared a story about a playoff game where a Seahawks linebacker taunted him during a scramble, but Allen used the moment to fuel his team's energy. Similarly, when Allen unexpectedly became the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos, he remained calm and focused, relying on his preparation and the guidance of his teammates to lead the team to victory. Transitioning from an air raid offense in college to the Shanahan system in the NFL presented its own challenges, but Allen saw it as an opportunity to learn and grow as a player. Overall, the ability to adapt and overcome obstacles is a valuable skill that can lead to personal and team success.

    • Learning the mental game in the NFLNFL requires mental preparation and strategy, with quarterbacks like Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo leading the charge, and team camaraderie essential for success.

Transitioning from college to the pros involves a greater emphasis on mental preparation and strategy, with the NFL being a more complex chess match compared to college football. Quarterback Trey Lance, who has been learning from veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and leading the quarterback room, has been instrumental in helping Garoppolo and himself adjust to the mental demands of the NFL. The mental aspect, from understanding complex playbooks to making quick decisions at the line of scrimmage, is crucial in separating average players from great ones. Team camaraderie, especially from veterans like Trent Williams, Eric Armstead, and George Kittle, is essential for handling the challenges and pressures of the NFL.

    • NFL player Trey Lance's unique partnership with Buffalo Wild WingsNFL player Trey Lance found a sponsorship deal with Buffalo Wild Wings based on shared feelings of being underappreciated and his love for their burgers and honey barbecue wings.

NFL player Trey Lance, despite dealing with injuries and being a late draft pick, found a unique partnership with Buffalo Wild Wings based on shared feelings of being "slept on" and his love for their burgers. The partnership came about due to Lance's confidence in himself and his belief that Buffalo Wild Wings' burgers were underappreciated. The partnership focuses on promoting the burger and wing combo deal, with Lance himself being a big fan of burgers and honey barbecue wings. Despite some misconceptions about boneless wings, Lance remains passionate about the partnership and believes it was a significant factor in his sponsorship, given his underdog status in the NFL.

    • NFL Players Discuss Food Preferences and Game PreparationsNFL players have diverse food preferences, with some favoring ranch dressing and others blue cheese. They also shared experiences and preparations for games, including emulating quarterbacks and delivering pre-game speeches.

The discussion revolved around food preferences, specifically dipping wings in ranch or blue cheese dressing. While some preferred ranch, others swore by blue cheese. The conversation also revealed that some individuals had aversions to white sauces due to past experiences. Additionally, the NFL players discussed their experiences and preparations leading up to games, including emulating quarterbacks like Drew Brees and delivering pre-game speeches. One player, Nick Mullens, shared his unique experience of having an undefeated record against Tom Brady. Overall, the conversation showcased the camaraderie and lightheartedness among NFL players, as well as their dedication and respect for the game.

    • Former Iowa State teammates Deebo Samuel and George Kittle share unique strengths and fond memoriesDeebo Samuel's ball-sticking ability and George Kittle's size and strength make them elite NFL players. They cherish memories of coaches Dave Andrews and Tyler Scudder and feel a sense of pride and competition with a brother in the league.

Both Deebo Samuel and George Kittle are elite NFL players, each with unique strengths. Deebo's ball-sticking ability makes him a standout, while Kittle's size and strength are unmatched. The speakers shared fond memories of their time with coaches Dave Andrews and Tyler Scudder at Iowa State. Regarding having a brother in the NFL, they expressed pride and a sense of competition, with Trav's Super Bowl win being a bittersweet moment. The speakers also encouraged this year's "Mr. Irrelevant" to make the most of their opportunity in the league. They reminisced about their experiences training together and the impact of their coaches on their careers. Overall, the conversation showcased a deep appreciation for football, camaraderie, and the journey of becoming an NFL player.

    • A proud moment for their hometownBrock Purdy and Jason Schreiber shared their personal experiences and expressed gratitude towards coaches and people who helped them become better athletes and individuals during their Super Bowl appearance.

The Super Bowl was not just a personal achievement for Brock Purdy and Jason Schreiber, but also a proud moment for their hometown. They expressed gratitude towards the coaches and people who helped them become better athletes and individuals. The duo also reminisced about their shared experiences, including playing sports and eating wings at Buffalo Wild Wings. They encouraged listeners to follow their show on various social media platforms and watch their live show in Kansas City. They ended the conversation by expressing appreciation for each other and acknowledging Brock's successful rookie year in the NFL.

David McCourt: Billionaire's Greatest Advice For Entrepreneurs [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

David McCourt: Billionaire's Greatest Advice For Entrepreneurs [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

In this episode Rob speaks to one of the most curious men he has ever met, David McCourt. David is an entrepreneur, thought leader and author. He likes to ask those questions that make you analyse and reassess the big questions in life.

David talks about the advice he has received in the past, gives great insight into his entrepreneurial journey and shares some intuitive and perceptive tips for those entrepreneurs just starting out.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • When you first start out you don’t know anything, this can be a curse as well as a blessing.

    • Curiosity, persistence, passion and loving people is what you need to drive you to start a business, those are the traits you need for success, then the money will follow.

    • It’s ok the be afraid of failure. Fear is actually a driver and a part of passion. You are allowed to not want to fail but it’s important that when you do, and you will, to get back up and try again.

    • Being a young entrepreneur means you are able to take more, and bigger, risks. You have nothing to lose. Just envision what you expect the future to be like and aim for it.

    • There has been a power shift to the bottom. For the past thousand years everything has come from the top down, rules have changed. Young entrepreneurs are changing the future.

    • Schools need to continue to be able to teach children how to ‘connect the dots’ in between knowledge. To learn how to connect thoughts and information to come up with a construct that you believe in. This was something the older generation took for granted in some ways, they were taught this and used this muscle as they didn’t have the internet to rely on.

    • The globalized world we live in is tough. Only two generations ago it was possible to be able to own a home and pay for all necessities on just one working salary. This is not the case anymore, it’s incredibly hard for young people, these are the challenges they face.

    • A positive attitude and a grateful mindset will mean that you find great success in this world as well as happiness. This is something David learnt from him mother who lived to be 103!

    BEST MOMENTS

“People are really focused on making money and it’s overrated”

“You really have to love people, you have to read, and listen, and think and talk to people and listen to their points of views”

“Everybody’s plan B is better than their plan A”

“Just because you read it, just because you saw it on the internet, doesn’t make it true”

“No matter how bad your day is going…just remember there are lots of people who have it worse so you just have to pick yourself up and move forward”
