    TX Public Land Hunt Recaps

    TX Public Land Hunt Recaps

In this episode we have two listeners of the podcast, Renee and Ramon, who recently went on a TX public land hunt here in deep South Texas. They each reached out to Manny to help them scout the area for places to setup.  I myself also recently went on a TX public land hunt on the opposite side of the state. Theses hunts were archery hunts, Renee and Ramon’s primary target game was Nilgai and mine was Mule deer. So, we thought we would do a show recapping our hunts, discussing lessons learned, and tips for others going on these TX public land hunts.  Manny takes the lead as host, with questions for our guests and myself.

Tales from a Hunting Family's Matriarch

Tales from a Hunting Family's Matriarch

A special 75th Episode, deserves a special guest! I sat down with me grandmother, Juanita, a while back to get her story of how it once was and how our family got its start as a hunting family. Although not a hunter herself, was raised on game meat, learned how to cook it and has been around it all her life. She shares an interesting family history describing how our Ancestors hunted for necessity and then later evolved into the strong Escobar family tradition it is today. I am also joined by my cousins, Noe, Adrian, and Andrew who are also hunters and they ask their questions, as well.  A little different episode, but I think it’s interesting to hear how it once was and how I would assume several families have a similar history. I wanted to get her story recorded as I believe it’s important to learn about our family’s heritage and legacy from our elders.  If you are blessed to have grandparents in your life, make it a point to sit down with them and ask them share their story.

But Did You Die! - An Elk Hunt Adventure - EP 73

In this Episode we recap our recent Elk hunt in Colorado with my cousins, Noe, Andrew, Luis and Gavin. We recorded pre-hunt then finished the podcast off post hunt. We talk about anticipation and expectations then we recount the variety of events as they occurred thru out the adventure of the hunt.  We had our share of sketchy situations, ups and downs, and just some plain old frustrations of the hunt. Although we did not harvest an elk, we came out of this adventure, with experiences, stories, brotherhood, and deeper appreciation for the outdoors. You will understand as the tales are told.
