    Interview with Courtney Padjen and Olivia Beisler regarding their work at The Institute for Integrative Therapist (IIT) and the benefits of ketamine-assisted therapy. 

    Courtney Padjen, PhD, LMFT, is a licensed marriage and family therapist based out of Minnesota. She received her PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University after successfully defending her dissertation titled “What’s Your Safe Word? Kink: America’s Current Sexual Revolution.” She received her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University and her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Stout. Most recently she started an apprenticeship with the Institute for Integrative Therapies where she is training to provide Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy.   

    Courtney is the owner of her private practice Centre for Sexual Wellness. She specializes in sex, relationships and trauma, and works with clients on diverse concerns including lack of communication, sexual discrepancies, differing relational expectations and such. She uses an eclectic methodology pulling from various therapeutic approaches. She is also a faculty member for the Marriage and Family Therapy program at National University and a research associate for TASHRA.

    Olivia Beisler, NBC-HWC, is a nationally board certified coach. She received her Masters degree in Integrative Health and Well-being Coaching from the University of Minnesota and her certification through the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching. She received her bachelor’s degree from The College of St. Scholastica with majors in Psychology and Music Performance.

    Through the health coaching program, Olivia took courses that focus on different areas of integrative and alternative health.

    Olivia personally owns and coaches through Liminal Health and Wellness Coaching, LLC. She currently contracts with several mental health clinics in the Twin Cities providing wellness coaching for clients as well as developing integrative programing and awareness around health coaching. Her coaching focuses on working one on one or in small groups, partnering with clients instead of prescribing or educating, holistic health, teaching and curating mindfulness practices, combining aspects of allopathic and integrative medicine, personal growth, creativity, the arts, supporting vulnerability, and exploring the liminal spaces and intersections of mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

    Dr. Susan Quigley (She/Her) is the owner and founder of SuNu Wellness Center. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology/Human Physiology at Northern Michigan University. In 2009, Susan obtained her Doctorate of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN.

    Dr. Susan has expanded her knowledge through hands-on training and seminars with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and is also certified in Breech Balancing Technique through Northern Lights Wellness Professional Education, and the Webster Technique. She has also had additional training with Gail Tully of Spinning Babies ®. Additionally, Dr. Susan is trained in Quantum Integration Technique, a muscle testing practice that can help chiropractic adjustments by supporting the different organ systems of the body.

    She is driven to empower and educate her clients on the importance of self-care and using food as medicine to heal. She is passionate about achieving a balanced nervous system through Chiropractic care in combination with other modalities.

    SuNu Wellness Center has been her lifelong dream — to form a collaborative of skillful and genuine practitioners where healing is the primary intention. Dr. Susan is so proud of the space that SuNu has become — beautiful, sacred, and full of heart.

    When not at SuNu, she is studying the healing arts, working in her regenerative garden, or spending time in nature. She enjoys biking around the lakes, taking hikes in the woods, being on her yoga mat, and traveling with her family.

    Karen Lawson, MD, ABIHM, NBC-HWC, is the founder and CEO of IHWC Productions, a consulting company that works with programs and individuals to advance and expand training in Integrative Health Coaching and Holistic Healthcare.

    She served as the founder and Director of Integrative Health Coaching at the University of Minnesota from 2005-2022. She is a physician, board-certified in Integrative and Holistic Medicine; the 2004-2005 Past-President of the American Holistic Medical Association, and a founding Diplomat of the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine. Dr. Karen is a founding board member of the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (www.nbhwc.org ). A published author and researcher, she speaks nationally to diverse audiences on the power of holistic health care practices and integrative health coaching. 

    Karen has been a student of shamanism and shamanic healing for over 30 years, with a special interest in the roles of ritual, dance, yoga, and nature for healing and wellbeing. Over the last 20 years, Karen taught the UMN graduate course Foundations of Shamanism, and lead shamanic journeying at Pathways: A Healing Center. She’s had the privilege of leading students in immersive learning experiences on the sacred land at Martell’s Landing since 2014.

    Karen is a dancer at heart, has had a 30-year yoga practice, and has completed a 230 hr. yoga teacher training.

    Ep 136 Healing Chronic Illness with Writing Groups with Kristen Hutchison

    Kristen Hutchison is a writer, patient advocate, and a passionate supporter of healthcare reform. She's received her bachelor's of science in biology and psychology from Santa Clara University, and recently completed a year-long medical writing program through Harvard Medical School. She has also completed certifications in somatic therapy, and trauma-informed yoga. 

    Kristen was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when she was in high school, and has lived with the condition for over 15 years. During one of the lows points in her medical journey, when the UC was flaring severely, Kristen started journaling. She felt isolated as a young woman with an invisible chronic illness, and needed an outlet to express herself. Kristen knows of the healing power of sharing our stories, and gathering in community to be seen and understood.  

    Kristen's inaugural writing group starts on February 15th from 6-7:30 pm CST. Virtually or in-person at Sankalpa in Bloomington. We plan to meet monthly!

Prior to her graduate studies, she obtained her Psychobiology B.S. from UCLA, her yoga teaching certificate through YogaWorks, and studied mindfulness at the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC). Cynthia is the Director of Community Engagement and Podcast Host of Well Connected Twin Cities, an integrative health advocacy and education organization bringing local wellness practitioners together through authentic networking and educating the public on their local integrative health options. Cynthia is also a faculty member for University of Houston’s new Integrative Health Coaching program and Owner & Founder of Mighty Mama Wellness, a collaborative community empowering women to and through motherhood through intentional gatherings and retreats. Cynthia loves hosting thoughtful gatherings in her home, dancing, adventuring with her husband, and cuddling with her dog and 2 cats.
