    On today's Zero Limits Podcast I chat with Krishna Thapa former British Gurkha and 22 SAS operator.

    Krish grew up in mountains of Nepal, he applied to join the British Army's Royal Gurkha Rifles as a teenager and was successful. He spent 7 years in the Gurkhas before attempting SAS selection, becoming one of the first two Gurkhas to ever join the Regiment. 

    Krish spent the next 17 years within the regiment rising to the rank of Warrant Officer. During that time he became the leader of mountain troop, training his fellow SAS soldiers and deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan. He is a world renowned mountaineer and has lead many record breaking expeditions.

    On today's Zero Limits Podcast I have a chat with Paddy Baker former 2nd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment and now blacksmith of axes and knives with his own business called Jack and The Bear.

    Paddy joined the Army Reserve in 2006 while completing his carpentry apprenticeship. After some time in reserves Paddy completed his civilian apprenticeship and enlisted into the regular army posting to 2RAR. Paddy deployed to Timor and the Paddy was on the same deployment as previous guests such as @coralsearc “Fabs”, @your.mate.wilso “Kyle Wilson”, @chrismay_aus , @adsietk , which his story adds another perspective during some major incidents that happened on that Afghanistan deployment. After returning back from Afghanistan Paddy attempted and completed SASR selection however he was not selected. A couple years later he yet again attempted SASR selection and once again completed and this time was selected to continue into the reinforcement special force training cycle. A few months into training Paddy was involved in an incident which resulted in an injury that ended his military career. Post military service Paddy had an interest in Blacksmithing focussing on axes and knives in which he has now turned it into a fulltime business.

    On today's Zero Limits Podcast I chat with Dustin Watts former NZ Police Special Tactics Group (STG) and Private Security Contractor.

    Dustin joined the NZ Police in 1996 and spent 8 years as a general duties officer and in 2003 Dustin successfully completed selection and training to become an Operator in the Special Tactics Group. However one month into his STG career he was suspended from duties due to an incident he was involved in whilst a general duties officer. After being cleared from the incident after one year he resumed his STG career. After 12 years in the NZ Police Dustin left the police and moved into the private security sector working in the hostile environment sector and then celebrity close personal protection for names like Metallica and System Of A Down.

    On today’s Zero Limits Podcast I am joined for a chat with Mitch Ashworth NSW Police K9 Unit Handler. 

    Mitch is a 16 year veteran of NSW starting in Goulburn as 20yr old in 2006 and finishing in 2007 in biggest ever NSW Police intake. Spending 10 years as a K9 handler in the Police K9 Unit. During training Mitch was paired up with police dog “Kane”. Kane had multiple bites which also led to multiple arrests of offenders. Kane retired and Mitch ended up with another dog Yap. Mitch trained him up and worked him to getting a few good jobs and bites and trained in USAR as well. 
    Mitch almost drowned on a job chasing an offender which ultimately led to his discharge with PTSD.

    On today's Zero Limits Podcast I chat with Victorian Police Sergeant Mark Thomas and founder of the Code 9 Foundation.

    Mark joined the Victorian Police in 1996 and spent over 23 years in the force. However over the course of his career with the Victorian Police Force, Mark had attended many distressing scenes and usually recovered well, that is until he was called out to a suicide.  Nearly a decade later, the situation came to a head and Mark was hospitalised. During this period, he was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety. 

    Mark is the founder of the Code 9 Foundation - The Code 9 Foundation provides a place of support for current & veteran professional first responders & 000 operators who live with PTSD, depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions that result from their service to the community.

    On today’s Zero Limits Podcast I chat with Hagar Quirke former Royal Australian Infantry Warrant Officer.

    Hagar enlisted into defence in 1996 as a reservists. After time in reserves Hagar enlisted into the Australian Regular army as an infantry soldier posting to the 1st Battalion. Hagar deployed to East Timor in 2000, 2003 and 2006. In 2007 Hagar deployed as a section commander from the 2nd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment as the first regular army Mortar section to Afghanistan. In 2011 Hagar’s brother McQuilty “Coco” Quirke NSC was on deployment in Afghanistan when he was wounded in action by a improvised explosive device. Hagar also posted to the 3rd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment as well as multiple other postings and did a multi organisation deployment to Sinai and Op Resolute border patrol operations. In november 2019 Hagar discharged at the rank of Warrant Officer Class 2 after 23 years of service.

    On today's Zero Limits Podcast I am joined in the studio by Mark Direen former SASR Australian Special Forces operator.

    Mark enlisted into the military in 1993 and after completing infantry training he was posted to the 1st Battalion Royal Australian Regiment.

    Mark applied for, and was selected to join the elite ranks of the Australian Special Air Service (SAS) Regiment. Serving in the SAS for over 10 years, Mark specialised in mobility operations, sniping, personal protection duties, special reconnaissance and training of local indigenous forces. With numerous deployments during his service in the Special Forces including Sydney Olympic Games, East Timor, Iraq and five tours of Afghanistan, Mark has extensive experience and knowledge in operating under pressure, working in and leading teams in some of the world’s most hostile and unforgiving environments.

    In 2007, while serving as an operational team leader in Afghanistan, Mark
    suffered serious injuries during an IED attack. Evacuated home to Australia, Mark focused intently on his recovery and rehabilitation. Displaying his trademark determination and tenacity, Mark successfully made a full return to health and deployed back to Afghanistan just six months later.

    Discharging from the Regular Army in 2009, Mark continued to work in
    complex and high-risk environments, namely as a team leader and security manager at the Australian Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan during the period 2009 to 2016.

    Mark is now Director of Point Assist, a unique company specialising in adventure travel, physical safety and self-improvement. His 25-year career in the military, security and adventure travel fields have given him the unique skill set and experience to provide practical solutions to the most complex and challenging situations across military, government, corporate and private sectors.

    Cas enlisted into the military as an infantry soldier posting to 2/4RAR after a couple of years he was then posted to the 2nd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment where he spent majority of his soldiering career.

    Cas deployed on four operational tours of duty which saw service in Rwanda 1995 Central Africa with UNAMIR 2, INTERFET East Timor 1999 as the initial lodgement force, UNTAET East Timor 2002-2003 and a Multi Force Organisation MFO Operation MAZURKA to the Sinai Peninsula to monitor the peace agreement of the Camp David Accords that were put in place in 1978 BETWEEN Egypt and Israel.

    On today's Zero Limits Podcast I chat with former NSW Police K9 Handler Paul Zubcic.

    Paul was born in Queensland however soon moving at a young age down to the NSW South Coast. After finishing school Paul went to University and completed a bachelor in Business Administration however had set his sights on becoming a Police Officer. Paul joined the NSW Police in 2012 and first posting was to City Central LAC. Up until joining the K-9 unit Paul became a weapons trainer, OSG Officer and OSG trainer. After a few years Paul passed testing and training to become a K9 Handler for NSW Police. When the covid 19 pandemic was in full swing the Australian government placed mandatory vaccine mandates on all front line workers. However Paul with 52 other officers declined the vaccinations and he was dismissed from the police in 2021 for not obeying a reasonable direction. Upon leaving the police  Paul started his own dog training business Summerland Dog Training, where he specialises in teaching Police Dog disciplines to the civilian market.
