    About this Episode

The final resting places we are covering in this haunted cemeteries episode are all very different with one thing in common, they are all haunted. The Waldheim Cemetery is a large conglomeration of several cemeteries within one cemetery that was set aside for the Jewish dead of Chicago. The famous specter here is a hitchhiking ghost. La Recoleta Cemetery is a graveyard that Denise has visited in Buenos Aires, Argentina and she was amazed by the beauty of the architecture of the over 4,000 above-ground crypts found here. Old Gray Cemetery is a historic cemetery located in Knoxville, reputedly home to another Black Aggie. And Stull Cemetery illicits chills from just the mention of the name because people who know the legend here knows that it involves portals to Hell and visits from the Devil. Join us as we explore the history and hauntings of these four cemeteries. The Moment in Oddity features Foxfire and This Month in History features the first permanent artificial heart implant.

    Edgar Allan Poe Redux

    Edgar Allan Poe Redux

Edgar Allan Poe's life is a study in tragedy. And like many of us, he kept no diary and had few close friends, so putting together a map of his life can be cumbersome. He was one of the greatest writers of all time, able to cross all genres. Poe even created a couple of them. But his life and work wasn't celebrated until long after he was dead. And his death has always been cloaked in mystery. Perhaps that is why his spirit is at unrest and reputedly haunts various locations connected to his life.

This is Southern Suds & Gifts and is located at 213 S. White Street. Ep. 526 - The Life and Afterlife of Superman, George Reeves

Ep. 526 - The Life and Afterlife of Superman, George Reeves

Superman is a beloved comicbook hero. He's all about truth and justice. Clark Kent, his alter ego, is a lovable nerd. Filling his shoes isn't easy, but George Reeves managed to do it and he did it well. But not because his own life reflected the ideal that Superman exuded. Reeves' life was complicated. And it came to an abrupt end when he was just 45-years-old in 1959. The death of George Reeves is a controversial topic. The coroner’s report ruled that the final results indicated that Reeves had committed suicide. Many people do not agree with that assessment. Could this have been murder? And is that mystery possibly why George Reeves' spirit seems to be at unrest. The Moment in Oddity features Convict Baseball and This Month in History features the Daytona 500 Inaugural Race.

    Aokigahara Forest Redux

    Aokigahara Forest Redux

At the base of Mount Fuji in Japan lies a forest that is 14 square miles in size and is referred to by some as the Sea of Trees. The forest's official name is Aokigahara Forest and has a reputation for being very quiet. That should make this area very peaceful, but it is actually pretty notorious. The forest has a reputation as a place people go to die by their own hand. Most people call this wooded area "The Suicide Forest." There are rumors that demons run the place. And the tales of hauntings are numerous.

This section of California is known for world-class wine and food and has a beautiful countryside that wine enthusiasts get to enjoy as they drive from tasting to tasting. There are hundreds of wineries between these two counties. One would not put wine and ghosts together necessarily, but several of these wineries reputedly have some paranormal activity. Join us as we explore the history and hauntings of Wine Country. The Moment in Oddity was suggested by Mindy Hull and features Nadine Earles' burial and This Month in History features the final episode of M*A*S*H*.

    Paranormal Trifecta with Shawn Grimm

    Paranormal Trifecta with Shawn Grimm

Paranormal Conversations are random, off-the-cuff discussions on all things paranormal. On this 15th episode, we are joined by podcaster Shawn Grimm who hosts The Big Grimmbowski Podcast. Shawn has experienced what we call the Paranormal Trifecta: he's seen a cryptid, seen a UFO and experienced ghostly activity. The cryptid sounds like a very bizarre variation on Bigfoot. And one of the ghosts seems to be an old family friend attached to his former stereo. We also couldn't help but discuss the 10-12 foot tall Nephilim alien things that supposedly showed up at a Miami mall here in Florida.

Ep. 524 - St. Ignatius Hospital

Ep. 524 - St. Ignatius Hospital

St. Ignatius Hospital dates back to the 1890s and was started by a group of nuns from Montreal. For over seventy years it served as a healthcare facility and then reopened as an assisted living facility that shuttered in 2003. The building was left to decay for many years, but was taken under the wing of the Colfax Chamber of Commerce and the Whitman County Historical Society in 2015. Tours have been hosted since then and some of them include talk of ghosts. Join us and our guest Valoree Gregory, Director of the Whitman County Historical Society and tour guide at St. Ignatius, as we explore the history and hauntings of St. Ignatius Hospital. The Moment in Oddity features Exploding Casket Syndrome and This Month in History features the introduction of Alka Seltzer. Our location was suggested by our listener Nate.
