Ep. 4: There's no reason to watch the presidential debates + The 'Spider-Verse' Megapod

    en-usOctober 08, 2020

    About this Episode

This week on Post-Weird, we discuss the train-wreck that was the first 2020 presidential debate, who it's for (Are there really undecided voters?), and if there should even be a second one given the White House's disregard for COVID-19 protocols. Then, we talk about recent developments in the Spider-Verse including Marvel's push towards an expanded multiverse across not only the MCU movies but Spider-Man in video games as well. With that in mind, we played a game trying to piece together our own versions of the multiverse - we each picked in 5 different categories, selecting characters from recent Spider-Man iterations to create our own Spider-Verse movie.

This week, we're talking about the good and bad of Netflix's 'One Piece' live-action adaptation, along with some of their other recent attempts like 'Cowboy Bebop.' Adapting anime seems to be a big source of IP right now for streaming, but is it actually working? And is it adding anything to these stories? We discuss.

Ep. 92: The excellence and difficulty of 'Beef' and other problem conversations about (probably) bad people

We're returning to talking about 'Beef' now that we've both completed the show. It's an excellently written TV that feels transcendent but also finds itself in controversy because of past comments by one of the cast members. We discuss what it means for the show, what it means to consume art by people who are likely bad people, and how we try and often fail to find the right ways to talk about it.
