    About this Episode

In this week's jam-packed show, the boys start out discussing key players returning from and going back to the IL. As we have entered the dog days of summer, this could affect certain clubs' playoff runs. With the recent sweep of the Yankees it's hard to see the Cardinals anything but contenders in the NL now. They are turning it up this second half. Year two of the Field of Dreams game is going down August 12. The boys preview that matchup. Then they have have some fun afterwards by starting a new tradition. They draft their own Field of Dreams roster and go head-to-head in a baseball simulation to see who has the better team. They then round out the show with Fantasy Factory and Collection Corner.

The boys break down what could be some prove-it deals on the horizon. This past week former GM of the Mets Billy Eppler was suspended by the league for manipulating the injured list during his time in the front office. This is much more of a serious problem than it appears on the outside. Afterwards, the boys continue their Then & Now series by revealing their top-five second basemen of the 1950s and the top-five second basemen right now. Ep. 146: '24 HOF Class Announced, Miami Asleep, Then & Now (P)
On this week's episode of Long Gone, the boys get real about the Hall of Fame. They put Joe Mauer and Todd Helton's nod under a microscope. Afterwards, the boys talk about teams that need to make an impact in free agency, and those who've been mostly asleep at the wheel thus far; one being the Miami Marlins. Where have they been this offseason? With the impressive push they made in the NL East last season, one would think they'd start perfecting the roster. The Then & Now series is back! Last year the boys picked the best of the 1980s, now this year the boys select the top players from each position of the 1950s! They start with pitchers this week (each picking top five). Afterwards, they switch over to the Now portion of the series and each pick their top five pitchers of right Now. The boys then close out the show with Collection Corner.

One thing is obvious, the San Diego Padres are not screwing around with nabbing the top prospects in back-to-back years. How does the rest of the league stack up? Like last year, we need answers to some serious questions before the season starts and the boys go all out. Are the Yanks gonna suck again? With Ohtani gone is Trout going to be the hero the Angels need again? These and much more are answered. They then round out the show with Collection Corner.

From the inflated contracts, to the nothingness that was the Winter Meetings, to the slow and uninspired free agent signings so far, this has been a head-scratcher of an offseason. Is there collusion happening since the new CBA was signed in 2023? If so, did the Dodgers not get the memo? What are the offseasons in the future going to look like? After, the boys break down 2024's Hall of Fame ballot and make their predictions of what the next class will look like to be inducted. They then round out the show with Collection Corner.

On this week's Season 4 Premiere episode of Long Gone, the boys talk about the problems with paying pitchers, like Yoshinobu Yamamoto, over $100 Million. This begs the question about the big signing, are the Los Angeles Dodgers flaunting their huge pockets, or is this actually a smart move? The boys then reveal their own New Year's resolutions, and afterwards they each pick three of the best MLB moments of the 2023. They round out the show with Collection Corner, where they take a new approach from episodes past.
