      Focusing too much on insignificant tasks while neglecting important ones can hinder productivity. I discussed this topic with one of my coaching clients who works from home and feels overwhelmed by his long to-do list. Despite working for 10 to 12 hours a day, he feels unaccomplished. This situation arises when we "major in the minors" by giving undue attention to less important tasks while neglecting significant ones. To improve productivity, it's crucial to prioritize tasks based on their importance and impact on our goals. If you find yourself in a similar situation, try to identify your major tasks and focus on completing them first before tackling the minor ones. Additionally, consider seeking coaching or mentoring to help you develop better time management and prioritization skills.

      It's essential to focus on the major tasks that bring significant value to your life and business, rather than getting bogged down in minor tasks. This concept is often referred to as "majoring in the majors and minoring in the minors." Our to-do lists can be overwhelming, and it's easy to get sidetracked by small, easy-to-complete tasks. However, these tasks often don't contribute much to our overall productivity or income. To avoid this, identify the one or two critical tasks that need to be completed each day, and prioritize them above all else. By focusing on these major tasks, you'll feel more productive, make progress towards your goals, and have time to tackle the smaller tasks that come your way.

    • Focus on the 20% for maximum resultsIdentify and prioritize the 20% of tasks that bring the greatest productivity, income, or learning for optimal time and energy management

      Focusing on the most important tasks can lead to significant results. The 80-20 rule, also known as the Pareto Principle, states that 20% of our efforts will yield 80% of the outcomes. Therefore, it's crucial to identify and prioritize the 20% of tasks that will bring us the greatest productivity, income, or learning. By doing so, we can make the most of our time and energy, and achieve more in less time. Whether we're entrepreneurs, small business owners, teachers, or employees, this principle applies to us all. So, next time you feel overwhelmed by your to-do list, ask yourself which tasks will bring you the biggest impact. Focusing on these tasks will help you feel more productive and accomplished, and ultimately lead to greater success.

      It's essential to focus on what truly matters and prioritize our time and energy accordingly. We've all been in situations where we feel like we're wasting time as employees, and it's crucial to identify and tackle our most important tasks to advance in our careers. Gary Vaynerchuk refers to this as spending time in the "clouds" rather than the "dirt." It's essential to ask ourselves if we're worrying about things that will matter in the long run and to let go of the minor distractions. Additionally, we should identify our strengths and focus on the areas where we excel to maximize our productivity and impact.

Remember, make it your mission to make someone else's day better and conquer the top 20% of your to-do list that truly matters.     I have an unusual obsession with this topic. I read books on it for fun and I am constantly learning new ways to be more efficient with the one thing that we are never guaranteed…time.

    My dear friend and author, Tammy Ingraham, always reminds me, “Time is Life’s money, be careful where you spend it.”

    We wake up feeling energized, ready to tackle the day and before we know it, it is time to get ready for bed. Where did the day go? And more importantly, did we accomplish the things that we set out to do? Many times, the answer is no. We know we were busy all day BUT…sound familiar 

    In an age where there are so many things to easily distract, we need to have a plan of action when it comes to protecting our time and making the most of this precious resource.

    Let’s talk about the ten techniques that will help you master time management so we can increase our focus and get things done!
