      Episode Delayed till Next Week

      Episode Delayed till Next Week
Hello to all followers of the History of Islam podcast! Unfortunately this week's episode will have to be delayed until next week due to issues in the production process. Hopefully this won't happen again, I could have forced out an episode but it would have been incredibly rushed and the quality would be almost certainly sub-par. Essentially it is an issue of quantity vs quality and I hope you all are in support of my decision to favour quality over quantity. What I definitely do not want to do is to just publish an episode for the sake of doing so, my ultimate goal is for every second of every episode to be valuable to the listener whether it be as an informative or entertaining device. Please bear with me in these coming weeks, I promise that we will eventually return to a smoother, more reliable schedule.

That is all from me for now, I will see you next Monday which is the 3rd of October till then take care of yourselves!

      Verses Recited to Utba

The prophet recited from the following chapter of the Quran:

From verse 1 to verse 37. The site I linked is very resourceful with many different translations that you can browse through, furthermore if you click on "surah info" the site offers a wealth of information on the surah's background, some of which you should already be familiar with.

Below I have embedded a YouTube video containing recitation of aforementioned verses.
The prophet would have ended his recitation at the point 9:12 which is the end of verse 37. The translation for verse 37 is as follows:

"And of His signs are the night and day and the sun and moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostate to Allah , who created them, if it should be Him that you worship."

This explains why the prophet used that verse as an opportunity to end his recitation to Utba, and why he ended by prostrating.
