    About this Episode

Can you really have it all? Often times we ask what is the key to success? Not realizing that the key is oftentimes found within us as opposed to outside of us. We look for someone to make our dream happen or we try and copy the exact formula that worked for someone else. In the words of DJ Khalid, "Major Key Alert"  everything we need to be rockstars is in us!

Today we are stepping into the soles of Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, actor, voice coach MAJOR. Mr. "Why I Love You" and the HOPE Dealer himself. We discuss what life was like being classmates with Beyoncè, just kidding, but he did attend the same school as her, so that speaks for itself. However, we do talk about the key to success and your dream career and life. Believe it or not, it's actually found in you opposed to outside of you! There are so many MAJOR. keys and tools that you can start using right now, to take your life and career to the next level. MAJOR. discusses how to write the scene of your life, your story, and the required ingredients to your legacy.

Trust me, I know I say this about most of the episodes but this one you're going to want to listen to probably twice. Just listen so you can get a good laugh regarding a moment in school where his wit got him in trouble and of course for The Sole Truth Nothing But The Truth Round where he talks about his relationship to Queen Latifah.

Episode 10: Dr. Lara Fielding: Clinical Psychologist

"Mama said there'd be days like this, there'd be days like this my mama said"- The Shirelles said it all except my mama did not tell me I would be faced with experiencing a quarantine nor a pandemic. If there was nothing else to make us adults faster, the current state of our world surely has.

I can bet my COVID-19  stimulus check that no one enjoys the feeling of not being in control. Although you may not currently have the freedom and control of when you can leave your house, there is something that you still have an ability to control, and that is your mind.

Today's guest Dr. Lara Fielding, a clinical psychologist that specializes in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy,  is dropping tips to help us get centered and understand the power of mindfulness. Join us as she lets us step into her soles, engage in a moment of meditation, and helps us tap into and find out what it really means to be an emotional grown-up.

We explore her book, Mastering Adulthood, which I discovered on my many Barnes & Noble takeovers and also talk about finding our purpose, "North Star" as she calls it.

I believe that this episode is needed during a time such as this! Let's dig deep into what it really means to be an adult and cope with the emotional effects of life so we can grow up together.

Episode 08: Confidence Is Key with Dolvett Quince

Episode 08: Confidence Is Key with Dolvett Quince

" Confidence: is a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities."

Who would you become if you had the confidence to risk what you deem as comfortable, like your 9 to 5 or 6 figure salary, to live the life you've always dreamed of? What if I told you confidence was the key to unlock your greatest potential? Everything you think, say and do affect your confidence. So if you are constantly telling yourself that you don't have the ability to reach that dream or goal, then you will surely affect your confidence and decrease your ability to succeed. I believe that the first stage in developing confidence is monitoring your self-talk.

In today's episode, we have the privilege to step into the soles of my friend Dolvett Quince. If you don't recognize the name, head on over to social media and search @dolvett, you are sure to recognize that smile that brings light to the rooms he is in. Or, you may simply recognize him from his 7 seasons as a trainer on NBC's TV show, "The Biggest Loser." Dolvett is a New York Times Bestselling Author, Celebrity Fitness Trainer, and Personal Development Expert with 20+ years of experience empowering people to turn potential into strength.

Dolvett was the perfect guest to discuss confidence and it as the key to unlocking the doors to some of the most hidden strengths within that once unlocked will bring success to various areas of your life. Dolvett's story is one that is sure to inspire you! As much confidence, joy, and success that Dolvett has now, it was not always his story. From foster care to the biggest loser his journey is one that we can all relate in some way especially knowing that when life happens to us we can either decide to give up or tap into that internal resource called confidence that will give us a determination to keep going no matter what it takes. This is a man that has gone through the fire and come out an even more rare and precious stone.

Listen in as Dolvett shares his greatest insecurity. Be sure to note that even with all his confidence he is constantly evolving enhancing his passion & grit, all while overcoming his insecurity. Find out if Dolvett wears socks with his dress shoes or has he received the fashion memo? Overall, he is dropping serious nuggets and you're not going to want to miss this.

    Episode 07: Passion & Grit

    Episode 07: Passion & Grit

In Today's episode, Jasmine Matsoyan (@jasminematsoyan) and I are discussing Passion & Grit. Jasmine is a paralegal at Hallmark, business owner of @elitebakerycafe in Sacramento, and content manager. Based on my experience and research, I believe it is the true key to success in any area of your life and you can't have one without the other. Cue the Love & Marriage theme song with Al Bundy.

If we can be real with ourselves, we all have been on the search for the "secret" to success. Reading books to watching documentaries/movies like The Secret but yet we still feel as if the key to unlock the code has still not been found.

For the next 54 minutes let's lock in on this idea of passion & grit. Are you passionate or gritty? Are you both? Is this a character trait your born with or can you develop it? As a reference, we do discuss the work of Angela Lee Duckworth who I hope to get on the podcast!

"Over time, grit is what separates fruitful lives from aimlessness" - John Ortberg
