Episode 5 - Invisible Audiences

In the final edition of 'Tapes From China', David premieres his new track 'Summer Always Passes', produced in Suzhou as part of his five-week artist residency with the British Council, and reflects on his time in the Orient.

Now one month into his artist residency in China, David rehearses with a Pingtan music icon, plays with fireworks, tries the lethal Chinese drink baijiu and recalls a weird date in Shanghai.

In David's third week in the Orient, he learns more about the 3000-year-old guqin instrument; jams with one of the Jiangsu region's leading guzheng performers and experiences a very loud thunderstorm.

David accepts an invitation to the rehearsal of a prestigious Kunqu performance in Suzhou, explores the haunted remains of a hotel on Xishan Island and experiences his first fireworks display in the Orient.

David makes his way to the Orient to begin an artist residency in East China with the British Council.

Wanting to be a better podcaster and connect more with his growing 'invisible audience', David meets Northern Irish vlogger Izonhow, Undertones' bassist and BBC presenter Michael Bradley and veteran Irish broadcaster Carl Corcoran.
