EPISODE 7 : RESONANT PATHWAYZ RADIO
In 2001, after a late evening turned pre-dawn, Kiva and graffiti writer ELiK illegally entered a boarded-up Bedstuy Brooklyn brownstone slated for demolition. In a trash filled upstairs bedroom closet, he found a dusty box containing a reel of audio tape marked "Future of Yesterday / live at the Blue Conch Jazz club '68." Taking the box to a friend's studio for playback, he realized he had uncovered a recording of a phenomenal Sun-Ra-esque jazz band that never "made it" known as Future of Yesterday recorded at the long gone brooklyn jazz hotspot, Blue Conch, which burned to the ground in 1972. After doing much research and talking to elders around New York, only scattered details of the band emerged, and it was found that no band members were still living. Kiva found the music so engaging, that he took it upon himself to transfer the decaying audio tape to digital to allow the music to be enjoyed by a new generation of listeners. On this episode of Resonant Pathwayz, the lost tapes are finally heard: Ladies & Gentlemen, may we present to you... the Future of Yesterday.
