    About this Episode

    Greetings Adventurers!

Well here we are, back again after almost a full year! It was April 2020 when our last episode went out and since then lots and lots of things have happened, mainly in the last few weeks!

Firstly, the Gorgon's Loch was ... wait for it ... SUCCESSFULLY KICKSTARTERED! Huzzah!

Aa a result, the past few weeks have been spent consolidating everything for the game, polishing artwork, overlaying things over templates, hunting down and killing the last couple of typos in the booklets, ordering the prototype, finalising the super efficient plastic insert and waiting patiently for the first copy ever to arrive here for Quality Assurance checking.

Oh, and a last minute move of everything to Poland too! Probably should have mentioned that first now I come to think of it. Sorry :)

The move to Poland for the start of the project is both strategic and personal. Gabi and Lacey (my wife and daughter for those of you not in the know) headed out a few weeks before me to say goodbye to a beloved family member and get our lives setup out here until the summer.

I headed out a few weeks ago after completing the Kickstarter campaign from the UK and beginning the process of exporting all the various bits of digital stuff to China to our manufacturers, whilst setting up a Pledge Manager for those of you who missed the campaign and also those of you who fancy adding a little something extra to your existing pledges (like dice sets, dice trays, extra copies of the game, etc).

Now I'm here and just about ready to start Podcasting again, so I thought I'd have a strut about in my loft office (above my in laws house in the beautiful South East of Poland) and tell you about a couple of major changes to the game since we were last in touch. Apologies for the sound quality, my in law's house is a beautiful wooden box, but wood isn't great for sound recording.

Finally, I'm always active on the Kickstarter page and over on our social media channels on Facebook and Twitter too so come and say hi.

The prototype of the game is due to land in about a week, complete with third party designed and gorgeously efficient plastic insert to boot.

In short, we're back! And it's almost racing around squealing 'huzzah' time ...

    Stay safe and stay adventurous!

Episode Twelve - We found him! Bartek Dziok in the house of Oakenwild!

A very exciting podcast this week Adventurers!

We managed to drag the principle artist Bartek Dziok in for a recording session so we chatted about the expansion pack, offered various exclusive snippets and even found out where the inspiration for the new magical potion came from (Black Bimber) ... #mysterious

As the chat this week is all about the Oakenwild expansion pack (we go live on Kickstarter in less than a month so the next few podcasts might be a little predictable in focus, though not in content), I totally forgot to share the news about the Gorgon's Loch itself!

The game is currently racing its way through the factory of Nice Funny Games and will be completely produced very, very soon.

Next comes shipping, wrestling with customs in the UK, then finally I can start fulfilling your games. Apologies they will be a little late (a few weeks, nothing major) from our original plan of mid-May. Certain things have been a little unpredictable this last year, but we're moving forward nicely.

The final bit of news is that Nice Funny Games actually sent me a handful of pictures and videos of the game going through their factory so I have turned it into a compilation video and popped it on Youtube. Check it out here and, if you like it, go give it a like and a share!

Don't forget to sign up  to the pre-launch Kickstarter page for the Oakenwild Expansion to be one of the first to grab your expansion packs, and help us out by telling your friends about it too please!

    Thanks Adventurers!

    Episode Eleven - We're expanding!

    Greetings Adventurers!

Almost another month creeps by and the Gorgon's Loch grows ever closer to your gaming table!

As the last few weeks has been mainly me chatting with the manufacturers about shipping and packaging options, it's hardly great  podcast material so I have decided, instead, to let you know about the next exciting adventure in the Loch, the Oakenwild Expansion!

    This will be a simple expansion pack for the base game that introduces;

    • Two new playable characters
    • Six new enemies
    • A new weapon
    • A new piece of armour
    • A new treasure type
    • A fiendish new trap
    • A brand new magical potion
    • A new large room piece that represents the Oakenwild's home

Along with all the above, it will also come with a full, six dungeon campaign that integrates with the main game's board pieces too.

I will be having the pieces mass produced and sent to the UK without any boxes or plastic inserts and then we (Gabi and I) will be packing envelopes to put the packs in and shipping those directly to our backers.

    'Backers?' I hear you say!

Why yes! We'll be running another, much smaller and shorter Kickstarter campaign to fund the  creation of the Oakenwild Expansion. I hope you'll join me in spreading the word when the time comes. There's more detail in the podcast, I hope you enjoy it!

    Stay safe and stay adventurous!

Episode Nine - The Kickstarter has ended, Gloomhaven gets a sequel and unexpected horse noises!

    Hi all!,

Thanks for joining us for episode nine!

We're still in lockdown here at the farm but the big news this week is about our Kickstarter to fund the production of our very first game, what happened a couple of days ago when it ended, and what the plan is going forward.

This week Dan discusses the Gorgon's Loch Kickstarter, the added value coming to the game thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic and the resultant lockdown, random horse noises and the much anticipated sequel to Gloomhaven, Frosthaven and their epic Kickstarter success in just 2 days!

Did we just say 'random horse noises'. Yes. Yes we did.

Please come and join the party and help us gain visibility and attract more folks to the wide and wonderful world of board and tabletop gaming.

    Episode Eight - LOCKDOWN UK!

    Episode Eight - LOCKDOWN UK!

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for joining us for this, our eighth episode.

It's a bit of an odd one this week as the UK Government has just put us all in lockdown which means that we can't leave our homes except for very specific reasons, and can be fined by the police if we don't comply! It's all a bit dystopian to be honest, but it's for the greater good given how contagious and dangerous the Covid-19 virus is.

This week, from the comfort of his lockdown panic room (or his office) Dan chats about the virus, the lockdown, what he's been doing to secure the future of the company, how he's been passing the time and what's next for the Kickstarter for the Gorgon's Loch.

He goes into details of our second game, Professor Harlow's Laboratory, and discusses various parts of the scenarios, including how the STORM system will be used to power the game.

By the time next week's podcast goes out, we'll know whether we reached our funding target on the 31st March. Exciting!

We promise that between now and then we won't cancel the project, so let's keep shouting about TGL and keep our fingers crossed for a lockdown surge in folks wanting to grab a copy to while away the weeks at home!

Please come and join the party and help us gain visibility and attract more folks to the wide and wonderful world of board and tabletop gaming.

    Hope you enjoyed the podcast!

Episode Seven - Enjoying AireCon with Steve, Tom and Scott

Episode Seven - Enjoying AireCon with Steve, Tom and Scott

    Hi all!

This week Steve and Dan enjoyed the full AireCon weekend, narrowly missing the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown of all live events of its size by a single day!

The podcast has Dan chatting to a couple of avid gamers (Tom 'the Honest Meeple' and Scott) who sat down and played through a large dungeon creation designed to show off everything the Gorgon's Loch has to offer in a huge maze!

Our own helpful meeple Steve spent the first day of the event learning the ropes and getting to practice showing off the various different dungeons of the game, then Dan abandoned him completely on day two, leaving Steve to demo the game morning, noon and night. He only made one crucial mistake, and that was NOT STOPPING AT ALL! Back to back for 12 straight hours Steve demoed the game to dozens of excited dungeon crawling gamers. Steve, you're a legend, we love you. Thanks for your help.

Dan joined the crew again on Sunday and spent many a fine hour chatting with reviewers and journalists about the game, all of whom were highly enthusiastic about the prospect of seeing our 'gateway game' arrive on the market.

Sadly, the podcast also features some rather heartbreaking enthusiasm for FantastiCon 2020 which, due to the current global pandemic and since the recording of this episode, we have chosen to postpone until August 2021.

    Kickstarter news:

The grand total currently stands at £4583 of the £34700 we need to bring the game to life, that's just over 13% of our target. That's a LOT!

With just 12 days to go it's looking more and more likely that we won't reach our target on this attempt, but these are UNEXPECTED TIMES and testing times often produce UNEXPECTED RESULTS, so it's important to keep sharing the project wherever you can. You never know what might happen in the next couple of weeks and it 'aint over till it's over!

We promise that we won't cancel the project, so let's keep shouting about TGL and keep our fingers crossed for an isolation-based surge in folks wanting to grab a copy to while away the weeks at home!

Please come and join the party and help us gain visibility and attract more folks to the wide and wonderful world of board and tabletop gaming.

    Hope you enjoyed the podcast!

Episode Six - Twas the night before AireCon and all through the board, not a Gorgon Queen stirring, nor any of her horde ...

    Hello everybody!

This week Steve and Dan chat about the upcoming AireCon weekend, at which they'll be demonstrating the Gorgon's Loch to upwards of 4000 people!

Exciting times, but also a little scary too!

Also this week, Hutton Orbital Radio is chatting to Dan (8:30pm Thursday 12th) about the game and the Kickstarter.

At about the same time as Dan is chatting live to the Hutton team, Steve and Gabi will be broadcasting a live play through of a Gorgon's Loch scenario on our Twitch TV channel from 7pm this evening. Dan and Gabi will start playing, Steve will drop in when he arrives, Dan will drop out to go get interviewed, then hopefully Dan will drop back in to join the fun afterwards. This 'drop in drop out' mechanic is something we're really proud to see in action.

Game nights need never be delayed because of a friend running late again!

    Kickstarter news:

The grand total currently stands at £4325 of the £34700 we need to bring the game to life, that's just under 12.5% of our target. With only 19 days to go it's a big ask but we're still confident we can do this with your support and encouragement!

Please come and join the party, even if it's just for £1 for now, and that will help us gain visibility and attract more folks to the wide and wonderful world of board and tabletop gaming. Thanks for your help!

Episode Five - A Super Symyoulated Scenario!

Episode Five - A Super Symyoulated Scenario!

    Hi all!

This week we celebrate the grand launch of our 30 day Kickstarter campaign on Twitch TV (please forgive the first 5 minutes of keyboard clatter, setup chatter and background noises, it's our first stream) and Dan travels to superstar sim-racer and dear friend Sarah Johnson, AKA 'Symyoulater' to give her the choice of her very first play of the Gorgon's Loch.

Dan and Sarah streamed the whole play through live her on her Twitch stream.

It was a really fun introduction to the game for Sarah and the fact that she chose the hardest and most evil enemy filled dungeon made it all the more exciting. In the immediate aftermath of the scenario, we fell straight into the recording of this podcast so what you hear is as authentic a reaction as you're going to get from Sarah!

    To the Kickstarter!

The first 24 hours were absolutely fantastic and we raised almost £3000! Thanks to everyone who has supported our project so far, please continue to do so by spreading the word far and wide for the next few weeks!

The grand total currently stands at £3826 of the £34700 we need to bring the game to life, that's just over 11% of our target already!

Please come and join the party, even if it's just for £1 for now, and that will help us gain visibility and attract more folks to the wide and wonderful world of board and tabletop gaming. Thanks for your help and we'll see you next week for the podcast the day before Dan and Steve T head to AireCon for three days of Gorgon's Loch playing fun!

Episode Three - Bonus Content - A lovely comparison!

    Hi folks!

After travelling to Cambridge and playing TGL last Wednesday, then chatting with Zac Antonaci and Major Alex Janaway about their experience of it, Major Janaway came up with a rather flattering comparison ...

He referred to our little game as a 'stripped back Gloomhaven'. Thanks!

Now for someone who has held the world champion WarMaster title for 2018, one of the most amazing tabletop war gaming awards in the world, this was extremely humbling to hear. However, being humble won't get our Kickstarter funded so we thought we'd brazenly release this chunk of bonus podcast content instead!

    Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

The Kickstarter to fund the game goes live on March 1st. That's just 8 days away!
