Well you’re not alone. In Bounce Back, Andrew talks to prominent Australians about major challenges that have been thrown their way, and how they’ve overcome these difficulties on the road to success.

In this episode Dr. Rochford speaks with Jacqui Lambie.

Senator Jacqui Lambie is one of the most recognisable faces in Australian politics. Her determination to 'tell it how it is' has been shaped by years of experiences, setbacks and challenges.

Senator Lambie served in the military for eleven years until 2000 where a debilitating back injury led to a medical discharge. She then struggled to raise her two boys on her own in the North-West of Tasmania. Fighting the Department of Veteran's Affairs for fair compensation while drinking heavily and addicted to prescription drugs.

After being hospitalised and spending time in a Hobart Psychiatric Ward, she deliberately walked out in front of a car. This was rock bottom but also a turning point.

Fast forward to 2013 and Jacqui Lambie became Senator Lambie, elected to Parliament as a member of the Palmer United Party and fast became one of the most recognisable faces in Canberra.

In 2015 Senator Lambie struck a chord with thousands of parents across Australia when she told Parliament that her son was addicted to ice.

Since then she has resigned from Parliament, went onto Reality TV show to finance her election campaign and was re-elected to the Senate in 2019.

This series will feature some of Australia’s most recognised sports men and women, prominent businesspeople and well-known politicians, allowing them to tell their story, in their own words.

    Episode Thirteen - Ben Crowe

There’s no doubt a lot of us are feeling a bit lost or struggling at the moment.

Well you’re not alone. In Bounce Back, Andrew talks to prominent Australians about major challenges that have been thrown their way, and how they’ve overcome these difficulties on the road to success.

What is the only difference between people who have wholehearted fulfilled lives and those who don't? Those who lived fulfilled lives, believed they were worthy of it. That is according to professional mentor and performance mindset coach Ben Crowe.

Ben has worked with some of the world's most prolific athletes.

His work with Ash Barty is seen as pivotal in her finding the enjoyment in Tennis that spurred her to climb to World Number One.

His work with Richmond Football Club Captain Trent Cotchin and Coach Damien Hardwick, who've led their team to two Premiership victories.

His work helping Australian Cricketers move beyond their recent dark days through humility, perspective and sense of purpose.

His work with Tennis star Andre Agassi. His work with World Surfing Champ Stephanie Gilmore. The list goes on.

It may seem strange, but one of Ben's secrets to achieving happiness, confidence and success in life is to embrace imperfection. Be vulnerable. Be genuine.

In this last episode, Ben gives us his unique perspective on our guests and provides some insights based on his experience to help you Bounce Back.

Well you’re not alone. In Bounce Back, Andrew talks to prominent Australians about major challenges that have been thrown their way, and how they’ve overcome these difficulties on the road to success.

In this episode Dr. Rochford speaks with Rosie Batty.

The loss of a child is every parent's worst fear. That fear became a reality for Rosie Batty. In February 2014 Rosie's Eleven Year-Old Son had just finished cricket practice with his local team at a park on the outskirts of Melbourne when he was brutally murdered by his father.

It was the culmination of years of violence and abuse, most of it directed at Rosie. The day after the horrific attack Rosie spoke out in the media about Family Violence. From that day on, she has been one of the most prominent and successful campaigners on the issue in Australia's history.

Rosie played a key role in the establishment of Victoria's landmark Royal Commission into Family Violence. In 2015 she was named Australian of the Year for giving voice to many thousands of survivors who had not been heard, for rising above personal tragedy and the great loss of her son, Luke, jolting Australia into recognising that Family Violence can happen to anyone.

On a list that included The Pope, Fortune Magazine named one of it's Top 50 World's Greatest Leaders and she has been inducted into The Victorian Honour Roll of Women. In 2019, Rosie received an Order of Australia.

In this episode Dr. Rochford speaks with Richmond Tigers Captain Trent Cotchin.

In 2016 The Richmond Football Club was in the dumps, finishing thirteenth. It is fair to say the fans weren't happy with some wanting to overthrow the Board and the Coach and Captain in the media firing line.

Whether Trent Cotchin was cut out to be a leader was a regular talking point, Trent himself had doubts. One year later Richmond FC are AFL Premiers, breaking a 37 Premiership drought. They followed up with another Grand Final victory in 2019.

Their Captain was then and remains Brownlow Medalist and three-time Richmond Best & Fairest Winner Trent Cotchin.

On the morning of the 18th of May 2019, Australians woke up to vote in the Federal Election with most expecting the Labor party to elected to Government and Bill Shorten to be Prime Minister that night.

The polls, media and public commentary all pointed to that result, after almost beating Malcolm Turnbull in 2016 Labor were confident this were their time. Soon after the polls closed things weren't looking good for Labor. This certainly wasn't the plan.

Within hours Bill Shorten had phoned Scott Morrison to congratulate him on his unlikely victory. Bill announced he would stand down as Labor leader but committed to stay in Parliament under the new leadership. He's currently the Shadow Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme and for Government Services.

When he started as Department Secretary, Michael wrote to his 40,000 new employees.
"There is one thing I want to tell you about myself, you may know it already but if not I want you to hear it from me first. As a teenager I used and supplied drugs. In 1984 I was imprisoned for conspiracy to import heroin, I spent nearly three years in jail and then around eighteen months on parole".

He told his staff of prison guards and welfare workers how he 'deserved to go to prison' and that his background would be an asset rather than a liability as he took over the state's courts and jails.
