During this episode of the Dan Bongino Show, Dan interviewed Julie Kelly to discuss various topics including the FBI's Pegasus spying program, informants in the January 6th case, and updates on the January 6th bomber case. Dan also promoted ExpressVPN as a means to protect privacy from big tech companies that profit from selling personal data. Additionally, they discussed Helix Mattress and its personalized mattress selection process. • FBI's role in January 6th Capitol protests raises entrapment concernsEvidence of FBI informants at January 6th protests and ongoing investigations into FBI entrapment fuel concerns about a cover-up, demanding transparency on the Bureau's involvement

The FBI's involvement in the January 6th Capitol protests raises significant questions about entrapment and potential misinformation. Reporter Julie Kelly was among the first to uncover evidence suggesting the presence of FBI informants within the crowd. This discovery, coupled with ongoing investigations into FBI entrapment in the Whitmer kidnapping case, led some to question the Bureau's role in the events of January 6th. The potential implications are substantial, as the public deserves to know what the FBI knew and when they knew it. The lack of public outrage over this issue further fuels concerns about a cover-up. The truth about the FBI's involvement in January 6th is gradually being uncovered, layer by layer.

    • FBI's past actions and informants under scrutinyMedia questions FBI's role in January 6th investigations, seeking transparency on informant activity and overcharging of defendants.

The FBI's past actions and the role of informants in investigations have become a subject of scrutiny, particularly in relation to the investigation into the Proud Boys and the events leading up to January 6th, 2021. The media, which previously criticized the FBI for its actions against certain groups post-9/11, now finds itself questioning the narrative it helped promote. The press coalition, consisting of major news organizations, has filed a motion in court to access redacted pages and a transcript of a hearing regarding informant activity and discovery evidence. The overcharging of some defendants, such as the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys, may be explained by the need to silence informants and prevent trials. These groups have been a focus of the January 6th committee. The complexity of the situation underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in law enforcement and media reporting.

    • Representative Clay Higgins questions FBI Director Christopher Wray about potential FBI presence during Capitol protestsRepresentatives are investigating potential FBI involvement in January 6 protests and there's growing sentiment among House Republicans to probe DOJ and FBI for related corruption.

There are allegations that the FBI may have had a role in the election protests on January 6, 2021, and some representatives are pushing for answers. During a recent hearing, Representative Clay Higgins asked FBI Director Christopher Wray if there were any FBI employees involved in the planning or presence at the Capitol that day. Wray was uncomfortable with the question and defended the FBI, but Higgins' query suggested that there may be evidence of FBI assets present. The head of the January 6th committee, Bennie Thompson, who also heads Homeland Security, rescued Wray from further questioning. With the Republicans now in control of the House, there is a growing sentiment among them to investigate potential corruption within the DOJ and FBI regarding January 6. The outcome of these investigations could shed light on the FBI's involvement in the protests and other related matters.

    • FBI's Actions Towards Political Figures: Loss of TrustThe FBI's actions towards political figures, particularly Republicans, have caused a significant loss of trust from the American people, raising concerns about accountability and transparency in law enforcement.

The FBI's actions towards political figures, particularly Republicans, have led to a significant loss of trust from the American people. This distrust is not limited to just the current administration but also extends to Democrats and even some within the FBI itself. Cases like the targeting of Representatives Devin Nunes and Scott Perry have raised alarm bells, with many recognizing the potential danger this poses to political figures and their associates. The lack of transparency and accountability in the FBI's handling of these cases has fueled this distrust. Furthermore, the apparent lack of investigation into the January 6th pipe bomber case adds to the growing unease. It's crucial that these issues are addressed to restore trust and maintain the integrity of law enforcement institutions.

    • Mysterious pipe bombs near RNC and DNC buildings on Jan 6, 2021Inconsistencies and unanswered questions surround the discovery of pipe bombs near RNC and DNC buildings on Jan 6, 2021, including the disappearance of the woman who reported finding one, lack of investigation, and missing security footage or witnesses.

There are numerous inconsistencies and unanswered questions regarding the discovery of alleged pipe bombs near the RNC and DNC buildings on January 6, 2021. These include the mysterious disappearance of the woman who first reported finding a bomb near the RNC, the lack of investigation into her claims, and the apparent absence of security footage or witnesses to the bombs' discovery. Additionally, the whereabouts of Kamala Harris on the day of the incident, which included her being at the DNC headquarters when the bomb was reportedly found, have been the subject of confusion and misinformation from government sources. The overall lack of transparency and inconsistencies surrounding these events have fueled speculation and conspiracy theories.

    • The importance of quality sleep and comfortable beddingBowl and Branch offers the softest organic cotton sheets made from 100% organic cotton threads, while AllForm provides customizable sofas and chairs with premium materials and easy assembly. Both sponsors prioritize customer satisfaction and offer discounts for listeners.

During this episode, the importance of quality sleep and the role of comfortable bedding in achieving it were emphasized. Bowl and Branch, a sponsor of the show, was highlighted for producing the softest and most luxurious organic cotton sheets made from 100% organic cotton threads. These sheets are not only comfortable but also free from toxins, pesticides, and harsh chemicals. The company pays its artisans fairly and respects their work. Julie Kelly, a guest on the show, discussed the January 6th Capitol attack investigation and raised the question of whether there was actually a bomber at the DNC and RNC on January 5th and 6th. She urged for transparency and the release of reports on the investigation.

    • FBI's role in Capitol riots investigations raises concerns of biases and inconsistenciesThe FBI's involvement in investigations surrounding the Capitol riots has brought up questions about potential biases and inconsistencies, including the role of FBI informants and the discovery of pipe bombs near the RNC and DNC headquarters.

The FBI's involvement in various investigations leading up to and following the Capitol riots raises significant questions about potential biases and inconsistencies. The head of the FBI Washington Field Office, Stephen Dan Twano, was previously involved in investigations that some believe could have been used to further a narrative against certain political figures, while the January 6th committee has shown little interest in investigating FBI informants embedded within groups like the Proud Boys. Additionally, there are concerns that the discovery of pipe bombs near the RNC and DNC headquarters before the joint session may have been a staged event, further muddying the waters. These issues undermine trust in the FBI and highlight the need for transparency and accountability in law enforcement.

    • Government Surveillance and Blurred LinesThe misuse of surveillance tools and lack of accountability for past abuses have created a dangerous environment where individual privacy and national security blur.

The misuse of surveillance tools and the lack of accountability for past abuses of power have created a dangerous environment where the line between national security and individual privacy is increasingly blurred. The discussion centered around the "pipe bomb" incident, which could have been a false alarm or a false flag operation, and the use of Pegasus spyware by the FBI. The FBI's misrepresentation of their use of Pegasus, as well as the lack of consequences for those involved in past surveillance abuses like Spygate, has emboldened the government to continue pushing the boundaries of what is considered acceptable surveillance. The consequences of these actions could be significant, particularly in the context of ongoing investigations and political divisions. It's crucial that we remain vigilant and demand transparency and accountability from our government and media.

    • Lawsuit against Biden admin reveals collusion between big media, business, tech, and liberal activistsA lawsuit by Missouri and Louisiana AGs seeks to expose collusive relationship between top government officials and these entities, potentially providing Republicans with crucial evidence for hearings.

There is growing concern over the collusive relationship between big media, big business, big tech, and liberal activists, which has the potential to interfere in elections and infringe upon the First Amendment. A lawsuit filed by the Attorneys General of Missouri and Louisiana against the Biden administration is making progress in court, seeking to expose this relationship and force top government officials, including Anthony Fauci, to testify. This could potentially provide Republicans with valuable evidence for hearings. The American people's frustration with this symbiotic relationship is increasing, and the judge in the case has been heroic in denying motions to keep depositions sealed. Eric Schmidt, a guest on Dan Bongino's Fox show, will discuss this monumental case further. It's important to follow the developments of this case and stay informed through trusted sources like Julie Kelly, author of the book "January 6."

4 Leadership Struggles I Had to Overcome

4 Leadership Struggles I Had to Overcome

    Lonely Leadership

What are leadership struggles? Many leaders act as if the point they’ve reached in their careers was easy to reach. From my perspective, as I progressed throughout my career, I ran into many different struggles. These struggles are some that I believe every leader will encounter. Rather than hiding these struggles from you, I will be putting them out in the sunlight for all of you to see. I have come to realize that all leaders are alike. As much as we think we are different, we are not as unique as we think. We all share the same struggles. On today’s show, I will be discussing the various struggles all leaders face and how to counteract them.

The first leadership struggle I’ve encountered is lonely leadership. As you progress through an organization it gets harder to find people that understand you. Great leaders are told that transparency is a must. Be transparent. Share things with others around you. While transparency holds importance, is it always the answer? Transparency is only important to a point. There are some things you should not be transparent about.

You should never be transparent about your self-doubt. Being open about your struggles with employees can cause them concern about your organization. Secondly, never be transparent about your opinion of others. Especially key stakeholders. They will find out. My philosophy is to never burn a bridge no matter what. This decision has come back to benefit me throughout my career.

Thirdly, never be transparent about confidential information shared with you. I’ve seen may promising leaders sidelined because of issues of integrity and trust. Building a reputation of integrity as a leader is crucial. It can be lost in just one decision. Don’t make that mistake. This will shatter your career. Being a leader is lonely. Who can you share things with? Your spouse? Not always. I remember when I was at Teligent and we were the hottest new thing. We were on the cover of Business Week, Forbes, WSJ, NY Times etc. My wife was at her hairdresser one day, and the hairdresser was drilling her about information on Teligent. He assumed she had access to confidential information and was getting aggressive. After that, me and my wife came to an agreement to protect her. I do not share any confidential information with her. Never. She doesn’t want to be in that position.

Is there anyone you can be transparent with? Your coach or mentor. Let your board/shareholders know that you have a coach or mentor. If you’re going to share confidential information with someone, they should sign a non-disclosure agreement. All of this said, you will be lonely as a leader. It comes with the position. Do you have someone that you can be transparent with?

What Got You Here Won’t Keep You Here

Will the skills that helped you reach your position keep you there? These things will not keep you here or progress you in your career. Look at me for instance. My specialty is technical work. I have not touched technical work in 15 years. I had to learn new skills in order to advance. How did I learn those different skills? Right out of college, I was told by my mentor Bob that in order to find success, I had to broaden my playing fields. I knew my specialty very well, but I needed to have a variety of experiences. What did I do? I rotated in marketing, sales, finance, IT, etc. I did everything. While these experiences broadened my knowledge, it wasn’t enough. What were the skillsets that brought me to success?

    • Organization design - How do you structure a team? You have to be willing to adjust in order to create a successful organizational structure.
    • People Reading - Each person is unique and you have to commit to learning them.
    • Consensus BuildingLearn the individuals and their objectives. I do one on one calls with each member of my board before meetings. This helps me to get a better grasp on the thoughts and feelings of each member.
    • Objective Setting – How do you set good objectives? use OKR’s/make sure they are clear and measurable. Grant autonomy letting your experts use their skills to achieve ultimate success.

    Consequences of Ideas and Statements

Ideas and statements made as a leader have consequences. Things will get taken out of context and all the sudden they become the “new law”. When I was CEO at Cable Labs, I told my team that the most common statement they would hear was “Phil said”. In many cases what I said was misinterpreted or misused. The best proof point of this in my career is press coverage. If you google my name and read the articles on the first 16 pages of google, not a single article got the situation 100% correct. At Cable Labs, we had issues with the press pushing out false information. This caused employees to start worrying about the longevity of our Colorado office. I had to call a meeting with my all my employees to address this issue. I made a commitment to my staff that day that they would hear from me first, and not the press. In fact, this created a new culture at Cable Labs called the “no surprise rule” to constantly remind my employees of this. Why do I do this? Because ideas and statements can be a disaster. You need to be hyper-vigilant about what you say, how you say it, and how you operate. Are you conveying statements the right way?

    Creative Self-Doubt

What is the number one skill leaders are expected to have? Creativity/ ingenuity leading to product, service, and operational innovation. Many leaders get promoted to a leadership role because of innovation they are credited with. Look at Nobel Laureates. There is a trend of peaks seen from the recipients of Nobel awards. One in their mid-twenties and one in their mid-fifties. The question comes down to this. Do you still have your creativity?

What type of innovator are you?

Conceptual Innovators - “Think outside the box,” challenging conventional wisdom and suddenly coming up with new ideas. Conceptual innovators tend to peak early in their careers.

Experimental Innovators - Accumulate knowledge through their careers and find groundbreaking ways to analyze, interpret and synthesize that information into new ways of understanding. The long periods of trial and error required for important experimental innovations make them tend to occur late in a Nobel laureate’s career. Success comes from recognizing that as an innovator we need to shift from the conceptual to the experimental.
