Stop Ecocide International (SEI) was co-founded in 2017 by pioneering barrister Polly Higgins (1968-2019) and current Executive Director Jojo Mehta.
SEI is the driving force behind, and central communications hub for, the growing global movement to make ecocide an international crime. Their core work is activating and developing global cross-sector support for this.
Positioned at the meeting point of legal developments, political traction, and public narrative, they are uniquely placed to support and amplify the global conversation.
Their core international team is located in many parts of the world and managed from the UK by Stop Ecocide International Ltd.

We have invited Thomas Mortlock  back for an interview to comment on the extreme weather events happening around the globe.

From extreme heat and fires in North America where we lost so much of the biodiversity in the Ocean and on land to the floods across central Europe and central Asia, to the fires burning in Turkey, Greece, Italy with considerable economic damages but unimaginable losses to human and animal lives, we are trying to find out if this is a sign of what’s to come.

Thomas is Senior Risk Scientist at Risk Frontiers where he leads the development of physical climate risk modelling services and Risk Frontiers' coastal, flood and tropical cyclone catastrophe loss models. He has worked for over 12 years in the fields of climate science, catastrophe risk and insurance, resilience, and coastal and flood modelling. Thomas is a Chartered Engineer and an Adjunct Fellow at Macquarie University. He holds a PhD in the field of Coastal Geoscience.

This week we had the pleasure to interview Inna Braveman from Eco Wave Power. This company is the future of Wave Power.

Inna Braverman founded Eco Wave Power in 2011, at the age of 24, and was recently chosen as one of the 100 most influential individuals in the world by medium.com (along with Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, and others).

For Inna, clean electricity is a very personal journey, as she was born two weeks before the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster and suffered respiratory arrest due to the pollution in the region. She got a second chance in life and decided to devote it to mitigating pollution.

Inna has given three TEDx speeches and her personal journey as a female entrepreneur was documented in a virtual reality film by Google, under the name “Female Planet”. She was also featured in Sanjay Gupta’s “Tomorrow’s Hero” in CNN for her impressive work in the wave energy field.

Eco Wave Power is a Swedish company, founded in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 2011, that has developed a patented, smart and cost-efficient technology for turning ocean and sea waves into green electricity. Dr Michael Greger M.D. FACLM is a physician, New York Times bestselling author, and internationally recognized professional speaker on a number of important public health issues. Dr. Greger has lectured at the Conference on World Affairs, the National Institutes of Health, and the International Bird Flu Summit, among countless other symposia and institutions; testified before Congress; has appeared on shows such as The Colbert Report and The Dr. Oz Show; and was invited as an expert witness in defense of Oprah Winfrey at the infamous "meat defamation" trial. In 2017, he was honored with the ACLM Lifestyle Medicine Trailblazer Award.

Dr. Greger's most recent scientific publications in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, Critical Reviews in Microbiology, Family and Community Health, and the International Journal of Food Safety, Nutrition, and Public Health explore the public health implications of industrialized animal agriculture.

Dr. Greger is also licensed as a general practitioner specializing in clinical nutrition and is a founding member and Fellow of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. He was featured on the Healthy Living Channel promoting his latest nutrition DVDs and honored to teach part of Dr. T. Colin Campbell's esteemed nutrition course at Cornell University. Psihoyos most recently finished directing The Game Changers, executive produced by James Cameron. The film tells the story of James Wilks — an elite special forces trainer and winner of The Ultimate Fighter — as he travels the world on a quest for the truth behind the world’s most dangerous myth: that meat is necessary for protein, strength and optimal health. What James discovers permanently changes his relationship with food and his definition of true strength.

Through the production of compelling film and imagery underlined by moving narratives, contemporary crises, and heroic film subjects, Louie Psihoyos is radically changing how people perceive documentaries. In this episode, we speak to Birguy Lamizana about the Great Green Wall project.

The Great Green Wall is one of the most inspirational and urgent movements of our times. This African-led initiative aims to grow an 8000km new world wonder across the entire width of the Continent to transform the lives of millions living on the frontline of climate change.
The UN Convention to Combat Desertification is a key partner in the initiative.
A decade in and roughly 15% underway, the initiative is already bringing life back to Africa’s degraded landscapes at an unprecedented scale, providing food security, jobs and a reason to stay for the millions who live along its path.
 
The Wall promises to be a compelling solution to the many urgent threats not only facing the African Continent but the global community as a whole – notably climate change, drought, famine, conflict and migration.
Once complete, the Great Green Wall will be the largest living structure on the planet, 3 times the size of the Great Barrier Reef.

Improving Millions of Lives
The Great Green Wall is taking root in Africa's Sahel region, at the southern edge of the Sahara desert - one of the poorest places on the planet.
More than anywhere else on Earth, the Sahel is on the frontline of climate change and millions of locals are already facing its devastating impact. Persistent droughts, lack of food, conflicts over dwindling natural resources, and mass migration to Europe are just some of the many consequences.

Yet, communities from Senegal in the West to Djibouti in the East are fighting back.
Since the birth of the initiative in 2007, life has started coming back to the land, bringing improved food security, jobs and stability to people’s lives.

WILDCOAST is an international team working to conserve more than 31.6 million acres of pristine coastlines, mangrove forests, grey whale lagoons, turquoise islands, stunning coral reefs, coastal wetlands and open ocean ecosystems.

Their work stretches from the wild coasts of California down to Mexico and more.
