Theo resigns, recap awards, Kim Ng named Marlins GM!
We kick off this episode with the news of Theo Epstein of the Cubs and his resignation and let me tell ya, Brunke was very emotional. We recap MLB awards: Rookie of the Year, Cy Young, and MVP. Did Clevenger commit fraud basically stealing money from the Padres??? Last BUT certainly not least, Kim Ng named GM of the Marlins. The guys explain why this was a FANTASTIC MOVE and the NL should watch out!!!
This episode's interview {23:51} features former MLB catcher, Kevin Brown (Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays, Milwaukee Brewers, Boston Red Sox) and his countless stories of life in the Big Leagues surrounded by household names! Brown was a D-II college athlete yet explains why/how he was a 2nd round draft pick by the Texas Rangers, slated to become the franchise's starting catcher, yet a unfortunate event with "Pudge" Ivan Rodriguez re-signing a hometown discount with the team ended that chance. Brown was eventually traded to Toronto and caught Roger Clemens, Roy Halladay, and Chris Carpenter!! Brown made his way to Boston in the early 2000s and teamed up with Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez, Nomar Garciaparra, Jason Varitek, Johnny Damon, and Rickey Henderson. Kevin Brown caught countless CY Young Winners, and the list of impressive teammates is second to none! We close out the interview talking about his son, Logan, (featured in Episode 3!) and being able to coach/mentor/watch him play and rise through the minor league ranks!
